My apologies for being an unmitigated fanboy, but Andy Akiho is among the best active composers out there. I see no reason why time won't see him become one of the best composers period.
Abby Schuneman as a volunteer on tour with crown, I hear them rehearse every day and I can easily say I prefer the Crown vocalist's voice. the vocalist sings a beautiful song from Wicked as the ballad, and then immediately makes the switch to this, and she does it amazingly well. I remember getting goosebumps the first time I heard the show
It's hard to imagine this piece without Fay Wang's highly individual voice. I think she may be part of Andy's first-call "house band" - several of the players here seem to be. And it wouldn't surprise me if he wrote it for her specifically.
