VERBAL REASONING TESTS! WHAT IS A VERBAL REASONING TEST AND WHY ARE THEY USED?
A verbal reasoning test is used by employers to assess a candidate's ability to understand and interpret written information.
A verbal reasoning test consists of a written passage of information followed by a set of questions that can only be answered as either:
TRUE
FALSE
CANNOT SAY

Question 9 is tricky . The question asks if King Richard banned the game in 1839. I initially answered B but changed to C (cannot say ) because the passage only speaks of King Richard II and not King Richard. For the question to be accurate they have to add II to King Richard otherwise it's two different people. Without this clarity the correct answer is that we cannot say .
I was also thinking the same. i was looking for anyone pointing it out here in the comment section. I agree with you!
It tells us that King Richard II banned football in 1389, therefore I believe this tells us that his predecessor King Richard did not live in 1839 and therefore it is false.
I need a clarification about question number 10. Does the word "suggested" has any effect whether the answer is true, false or cannot say? I hope you'll be able to answer my question. I have my exam about this coming up for shifting my college program and I really need to pass that exam.
yes the word suggested has an effect on the answer, because its saying "it is suggested that the Romans legions (may have) introduced" not the Romans legions have
introduced blah blah. i hope that makes sense

Hi Richard, I came across some verbal reasoning questions in which there were no options such as true false or cannot say, instead, the question was, which of the below is true? And the answers were scattered all over the passage. What would you suggest the best way to answer those is?

Recent studies have re-confirmed the relationship between healthy eating and mental health. On the other hand, nutritional deficiencies have been linked to violent and anti-social behaviors.
In one study, men in British prisons received nutritional supplements containing the recommended daily requirements of vitamins and minerals, while a parallel group of prisoners received placebos (i.e. false supplements). The prisoners who received the real supplements for four months committed an average of 26 percent fewer violations compared to the four-month period prior.
In another study, junk food consumed by 3,000 adolescent prisoners was replaced with healthier options containing less refined foods and less sugar. During the year that the diets were changed, violent and anti-social incidents decreased almost by half.
These results are typical of many studies in the last 25 years, which have shown that a diet with less sugar and more natural foods containing vitamins and minerals results in less violent and anti-social behaviors of children and adults.
1) *The British prisoners received fake nutritional supplements.* here I marked as *true", but I am not sure. In this case, when it says "the british prisioners" is it referring to the whole group of people in the studies?? Because if it the whole group, the it is not *true*. I am really confused. :(
2) *All studies linking nutrition to anti-social behavior are based on incarcerated subjects.* Here I marked "cannot say".

Thank you for all your helpful videos but I had a question about the 9th question. Shouldn't the answer be C? They did confuse the person reading the questions with the Year 1839 instead of saying 1389, which makes the person reading the question believe that the answer is 'FALSE', but the focus was on the name of the King; King Richard. The king mentioned in the passage was King Richard the II, so shouldn't it make the candidate think, "Oh, it's a different person, a person not mentioned in the passage, so, I 'CANNOT SAY' for sure, which is option C"?
I get what you mean but I think that's a mistake on their part for removing the 'II' 😄 but yh can be confusing in the moment
