Hi Sir Richard, i have just received feedback from Omnicor on my assessments. Thank you so much because now i am able to develop my weaknesses through your video. This really helps... and these tips will come in handy for my next assessment.
Another percentage tip: multiply the number by 1.x for % to increase, i.e. 1.21 for a 21% increase) or 0.x for % to decrease. Also, divide the smaller number by the larger one to calculate the % difference.
@@mairajkhann You have to then subtract the result. Eg: 150 x 0.25 = 37.5 (this is the decrease, now we do 150 - 37.5 = 112.5 the final result) You could also do 150 - (150 x 0.25)
For the calculation example of 90% x 97 he should have explained step by step. 9.0 x 9.7 (move decimal x1 to the left) = 81 then get 7 x 9 = 63. So get 81 + 6 = 87 then put a decimal of 3 after which makes 87.3

It’s C because: There are 10 numbers containing 4 (40, 41… 49) and 1 on each decimal group until 100 (1-9 has one 4, 10-20 has one 4) so that makes it 19 times that the number 4 will appear until 100.

Thank you so much for your help. I failed miserable on this section and glad to see that theres help out there haha please keep up the brilliant videos :)
I don't get where he got the 3 either. Mum said 9 x 9 = 81 as well. Doesn't make since, especially since another lady in the post here said, beforehand for 30% of 81.... to get 30% of 81 take 30% of 10= 3 then how many 10s do I have in 80= 8 so 3x8=24 then add 30% of 1 which is .30 total =24.30. That means 90% of 81 taking 90% of 10 = 9. Then how many 10s in 90 = 9. So 9x9= 81. 90% of 1 = .90 total 81.9.
Tip # 2 is confusing, is it correct to say 52 is "20 or above" or you will add 52 with 19 ( from 30 and above) to get the total marks of 20 or above in their English exam?
no the numbers given refer to the percentiles. That means that 52 have marks of 20 or above which already includes the people that scored 30 or above. The difference between the 52 and the 19 are the people that scored between 20 and 29 (30 is already the next category)
For your example or any similar ones, instead of moving the decimal one place from the left side, you move it 2 decimal places.... So 9 * 9.32 does the trick. 83.88 Logically you cannot use the sams trick as described here because otherwise 9% of 932 will then be 838.8, and that doesn't even look right. We are talking about only 9 percent here.... I have been consistently poor in mathematics and right now waiting to give an online test with similar questions... So, if you are reading this...wish me luck and pray for me. I need 'em both very badly. Luck and prayer. I'll take care of the hard work. Thanks.
The question is "What is the percentage of student who achieved marks of 20 or above in their exam?" Your answer is 52%. But the 30 and above is also above of twenty, So my answer is 51+19=70%

Is the reason why #7 answer is D=18 instead of A=17 (138/8=17.25) because there would be 2 extra students leftover if A=17 was the answer and the "minimum" for each teacher is 8 students so we need to round up to 18?

Thank you this is helpful, don't suppose you have tips for people with dyscalculia? it's hard to do it in my hard while being timed, I can do it given time to write and think but I can't do it very fast under pressure.
Thank you for the tips. Awesome!!! I also do percentage to get 30% of 81 I take 30% of 10= 3 then how many 10s do I have in 80= 8 so 3x8=24 then add 30% of 1 which is .30 total =24.30
I’d like to suggest another way: if you think about it, 30% of 81 is just 3 times 10% of 81; to calculate 10% of any number you move the decimal one place to the left (10% of 81 = 8.1) and I hope 3 * 8.1 is easy enough for a person to do so.
Hi Daniela, Thank you for your feedback. We love engaging with our viewers, this is why we encourage you to put the answers down the comment section. This will allow me to mark them for you within the next 24hrs :)
Hello. The SHL test I’ll be taking in few days doesn’t allow you to go back and fill answers you weren’t sure of and you must fill an answer before you’re allowed to move to the next question. How do I handle situations where I’m not sure of the method for getting the correct answer or I feel the protocol may waste my time and I need to move on to easier questions before deciding my answers for the tough ones, what can I do? Secondly, I took the practice tests on the link that was shared in my test invitation email and the numeric questions were a lot tougher than what you’ve shared in this video which I think is basic arithmetic. I’m a lawyer so I’m presuming the tests were intentionally made more complex and it’s really driving me nuts because I have no further mathematics background. Even the questions that had diagrams had arrows and I needed to move the arrows sequentially but It was tough to notice the pattern in the numbers et al. Do you have specific videos for shl tests for lawyers. I’d highly appreciate your prompt response
Thank you for a great tips over %! Always been struggling with them! Your way is much more easier! Another thing seconds for answering. I am way too slow. 😔I don't have no idea how to increase my speed .
Tip 2 needs more detail. I got caught out because I assumed it wanted 20 and above which included the 30 and above numbers as well as they are above 20. There is a question on the Amazon test which looks at expenses and the question isn't clear at 1st. out of 3 meals the breakfast was over the allowance however all 3 meals together came under the daily allowance. It means if any of the meals come over reject the whole thing. I think this is an important tip on these tests, just do what it askes, don't use you brain anymore than is needed.
I think it is 1D2D3E4C5B6E7D, although Q4 took me a long time to think and research on what should be the correct answer, it's not just numerical, it's an English test as well..
based on how u explained the 3% x 81 and than u gave the example of 90% x 97 it should be 81.64% not 87.3%. Now I know the correct answer is 87.3 based on using my calculator but truthfully, I don't understand how you got 87.3.

So 9 * 9.32 does the trick. 83.88
Logically you cannot use the sams trick as described here because otherwise 9% of 932 will then be 838.8, and that doesn't even look right.
But the 30 and above is also above of twenty, So my answer is 51+19=70%
maybe it`s a Hungarian thing, I also calculated 70%
No. The correct answer is 52%. If you see 0 and above is 100%. 10 and above 91%. It means that the data on the left is already considered.
72 , 24.08, 3.18, 21, 432 , 472 ,18
for the 4th ques it will be 19 not 21
4,14,24,34,44,54,64,74,84,94,40,41,42,43,45,46,47,48,49
20 and not 19
The last question is 17 not 18. The question says what is the minimum number of teachers….

Thank you for your post and answers. Almost 100% All correct other than Q4 which is not 20?
I was watching the video at 2x and when the test appeared at the end I was pondering that this man must be crazy to give the solving time equal to a blink
I got DDECB ED :P Thanks for your tips and samples. It really helped to get a grasp of problem type!
Smashed it Yejin, you've got all these correct! Super work
Is the reason why #7 answer is D=18 instead of A=17 (138/8=17.25) because there would be 2 extra students leftover if A=17 was the answer and the "minimum" for each teacher is 8 students so we need to round up to 18?

Hi, Well done, 6 out of 7 here. Have another go at Q7 as you are not to far of the correct answer.
@@CareerVidz Correct answer of Q7 is D.

@@arnolddeleon547 It's 19. Because 44 is just one number, not two numbers.

@@CareerVidz hi , I’m not so sure how you calculated number 7 , thank you
@@mobolajiakinboro6330 because 138 is not divisible by 8 as a whole number, you have to round up. So 138/8 = 17.25
Thank you for the tips.

How did you do on the test?
How did the test go?
@@LuziyaKambwela had one here yesterday. I passed it!
Very helpful. Now let's see how we perform

2D haha, must have read the wrong letter
Tip 2 needs more detail. I got caught out because I assumed it wanted 20 and above which included the 30 and above numbers as well as they are above 20. There is a question on the Amazon test which looks at expenses and the question isn't clear at 1st. out of 3 meals the breakfast was over the allowance however all 3 meals together came under the daily allowance. It means if any of the meals come over reject the whole thing.
I think this is an important tip on these tests, just do what it askes, don't use you brain anymore than is needed.
Q7: A
Take another look at Q7 and see if you can get D as the correct answer.
I think it is 1D2D3E4C5B6E7D, although Q4 took me a long time to think and research on what should be the correct answer, it's not just numerical, it's an English test as well..
YOU ARE RIGHT BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Failed to do even one of the questions and then realized that I was on the 1.75x setting... lol
Tip 3 is inconsistent,90%*97 technique
You may need to check again. It's fine.
based on how u explained the 3% x 81 and than u gave the example of 90% x 97 it should be 81.64% not 87.3%. Now I know the correct answer is 87.3 based on using my calculator but truthfully, I don't understand how you got 87.3.
HA!!! I figured it out. yes its 87.3 9x9=81 9x7=63 -- 81+6 = 87 remaining number of 3 is 87.3.

Bonus percentage tip: x% of y equals y% of x. Handy when swapping makes calculation easier
