Could you imagine devoting a whole commercial describing all the features of the products that actually don't have anything to do with your company... that is insane. It would be like Esso making a commercial about the features of a V12 Ferrari's to electric car drivers. "what if I told you, there's this magic juice you can put in your car, and you won't need to charge it. Your car can run in a matter of minutes instead of an hour!"
As a Mac user, if someone asked "what is your laptop missing" I would say things like FaceID or ProMotion. Not "touchscreen". I find touchscreens on laptops to be ridiculous when you have a good trackpad.
@@keco185 absolutely. I find it rather ridiculous, as the whole point for laptops are that they allow you to bring your desktop with you. They're not supposed to BE an iPad.
As someone who carries a MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil I would want a touch screen for notes. The ipad is great at diagrams and layouts, but you can’t type as fast as you can on a laptop unless you carry a Magic Keyboard and at that point you might as well bring the laptop.
As an Apple user that uses PC’s work since forever, I still can’t stand how bad Windows is with touch. Even now that I have a Surface Pro 7 for work, I never use the touch screen. Touch points are still way too small and it is still an OS designed for a mouse.
That’s my exact issue with windows now too. They attempted probably 5+ times to make it touch compatible but it’s just really not still at all. Not that macOS wouldn’t be cool with touch compatibility I feel like it would have to regress the cursor and keyboard experience for it to be good. So windows is stuck in this weird limbo of putting this awkward partially touch compatible OS on everything. Which is why Apple has been smart keeping them separate OS while unifying them at times with stuff like continuity, sidecar, universal copy and paste and universal control now too. People may disagree but a Windows TabletOS with continuity type features would instantly improve the experience so much.
Same. Probably hot take.... but personally, I don't see any need for it to be so. I say let it be good at what it's good at and stop trying to make it like the other thing just because people want it to be more like their other one. I don't want a touch os with windows and if I did, I know where to find that... with apple.
The Setting app on iOS is showing its age, though. The design isn't intuitive and some features are limited. I can set a usage period on my Android (e.g. 1st - end of month) and my Android phone can automatically track and keep a complete history of usage of each period for both cellular and WiFi. I have to manually reset the cellular data usage on my iPhone at the beginning of each period and there is no WiFi data tracking.
It always amazes me when giant companies paying thousands for ads that have to get approved by dozens of people before they make it on the air are so terrible. How does no one in that process realize its a bad ad
I had a 2 in 1 before I switched to Mac. Almost never used the touchscreen for regular use, the only times I used it was when I would remember that I could do it, but unless you actually need it or want it on your laptop, the "benefits of it" in general are very minimal, especially when you have a 15 inch device, you'll just end up using your mouse and keyboard.
It's insulting to think customers are stupid enough to fall for junk like that. If they are real people then they are just excited to be doing a "thing" because they'll be in a commercial or whatever. If your an Apple fan you won't want to use a pc because you've already taken the advantages and disadvantages into consideration before you bought a Mac I would hope. 🤦♂️
Yuuup. This is reminding me of those Chevy commercials with “real people, not paid actors” who are just “paid people that aren’t professionally-trained actors.”
Intel is completely high to think that people care too much about the processor in their laptop, ONLY engineers or pro content makers do that. Most people in the world don't give 2 fucks about Intel. Geeks overestimate how popular a semiconductor manufacturing company is when most people don't even remember what semiconductors are.
While this ad is utter bs, you are just not right at all. Most Mac users and most Windows users are not enthusiasts that compare different types of laptops. Most cant even name which model of a macbook or windows laptop they are using. It's the same type of people that think windows laptops are trash, because they compare their 400$ laptop against 1000$ macbooks. It's just a fact that the average consumer has no idea about tech.
@@kreativeGG Dude. I doubt any Apple user, no matter how 'stupid' or 'unenthusiastic' don't know which MacBook they're using. The name is right at the bottom of the screen. Windows laptops, on the other hand ... there are so many of them and with weird names like Dell Inspiron 5515 that people have troubles remembering. I can imagine Windows users going like: "Yeah, I have a Dell/Asus/Acer..." and flounder when they're asked which model they're using. It's just not enough to take me out of the Apple ecosystem. Beyond iMessage there's Apple Music, my iTunes purchases, Contacts, iCloud management, logging in and using my Apple Watch for Apple Pay purchases via Safari; just a host of features and services that make using Apple products so seamless. To my knowledge none of these options are available on the PC side and since Microsoft bowed out of the mobile OS game it's unlikely that any of these features will ever be available. The reality is that if you don't use macOS you're using Windows. Doesn't really matter if it's on an Lenovo or an HP, they're all running the same software and beholden to Microsoft. So not being an Apple user doesn't equate to a million more choices. Just the same OS wrapped in different hardware.
Yeah! As a macOS, iPadOS and iOS user, I find it really hard to have a nice workflow whenever I'm using a PC. And the same goes when I've had to use an Android phone. It's annoying not having iMessage, Airdrop, or even the Apple TV app. And you simply can't as productive as when you have everything in the same ecosystem.
@@tommymrshadows -- Agreed! It's a small feature but I like that when I'm talking about or thinking about a movie or TV show that I want to watch later that I can add it to my Apple TV app queue and have it ready to watch when I fire up the Apple TV box (I'll concede that the naming convention for the Apple TV isn't the greatest).
As an apple sheep, I can confirm that I do not want the MacBook to have a touchscreen. It makes for a worse computer experience. I’d rather use touch on my iPad.
the ipad is the touch optimized ui but the mouse experience on that thing has improved but still not enough to be able to compete with a mac mouse experience.
I’ve used Windows for most of my life and for years, I’ve used a Windows 2-in-1 as my computer. Throughout that time, I almost never used the touchscreen, and I almost never used the tablet functionality, except for showing it as a gimmick. Then, when I switched to a MacBook Air a couple years ago, I didn’t miss the touchscreen at all. So while I’m not against having a touchscreen on a laptop, I don’t think it’s a must have feature for a Mac because it’s optimized for keyboard and mouse.
Fun fact: many of these ads use employees of the company (especially the car ones). They are technically not actors. Source: I worked in one of these companies.

6:46 I agree with Marques completely on this one. Personally as a Mac user, I find touch screens on laptops to be the most useless thing ever, not only does poking your screen going to make it more dirty with fingerprints, its also going to tilt your screen angle or even tilt the whole laptop depending on how heavy your laptop is and how heavy you poke. MacBooks have a great trackpad that works amazingly well, I have not used a mouse for years now because of how good the trackpad is. (Also I have experienced wrist pain in the past with mouses but never with the trackpad). Touch screens work well on iPhones and iPads because of the way we use them. Because we are holding the screen, it it stable and so touches can be precise and thus a good user experience. Whenever I am trying to use my iPhone when its mounted in my car, (which is close to touch screens on the laptop scenario), I get a horrible using experience, and most of the time, I just give up and unmount the iPhone and use it in my hand. If I were asked what my laptop is missing, I probably say the new m1 chip for more performance since my MBP from 2015 is quite outdated.
I saw this add and it was just so cringe. I really don’t think most Apple users are that blind to that there are other options, they just prefer the Apple options and what comes with those. I’ve never thought of a touchscreen Mac just because they would have to regress macOS to be touch compatible and mouse compatible which is why windows is so wonky to me right now. Also ergonomically there’s something about using a trackpad and keyboard or stylus and touch screen. It feels really awkward blending that at times on a laptop, like it is out of sync and using the trackpad is more precise and on the same plane as the keyboard so the transition is easier. The only time I really do is my iPad Pro because it is touch compatible primarily. Often I take only that and just take the iPad off the magic keyboard as needed. The touch experience is so key and I think that’s where windows and intel obviously is still really really far off with the 2 in 1 dynamic and they’re really blind to it.
On the touch screen part of the conversation - I had my dream come true with iPad and magic keyboard case. I can use it as a laptop but I can reach out and grab exactly what I want when I want it, instead of scrolling the mouse over to it. Plus I can take the screen off and draw on it if needed. I think I’m writing this comment more as a reminder to my Self: I bought this as a treat to me, to remind me that I’m worth the things that I want and I wanted it because it’s a touch screen laptop that I can take the screen off… it’s magic. So I am 100% one of those people who want to touch their laptop screen. To be clear, I had a high-end asus touch screen laptop for many years and thought that was the pinnacle - until using an iPad and realising how much better it could actually work.

It's a bit bittersweet but rewarding to see that Intel is at this losing position right now... I remember last time I used Intel which was the i7 7700k which overheated no matter what and it was the same 4C 8T cpu than previous generation with no noticeable change in performance for 400$ in 2017... I don't remember cursing a company that much and wishing them a horrible...horrible journey, they had this coming 100%.
Because no windows machine has a trackpad as good as Apple’s so they had to figure out another way to let their users navigate the OS. For me if Apple added a touchscreen it’d be like the swipe keyboard that I forget my iPhone and iPad have.
Another thing that kept me in Apple is the resale value. At least where I come from, they hold their value very well, more than 40% of it's original value for machines that are 4 years old or more. I can sell it off and it will fund my next Mac purchase. For its Windows counterpart the value fall off drastically, and well, there's very little demand for that and you expect it to be on shelves for a very long time unless you sell it for an absolute bargain.
It is a terrible AD, but the way Apple fans behave sometimes makes me believe this is true 🤣 I've had apple people tell me they won't text people who are green bubbles.

This is what happened with Android as well: androids and “non-apple” laptops can’t beat iPhones or MacBooks on merit (ie raw performance, real features, and build quality), so they start making random useless gimmicky functions like larger screens and folding phones and folding laptops and all these useless features to attract more customers. These companies are so shameless!
And a lot of windows laptops have pen support, but what am I supposed to do if I’m in an online class. Do I switch each time from video to one note (which sucks)
This is pretty much the equivalent of Shell making an ad for gasoline. "Do you want to be able to get more performance out of your 2006 Camry? Do you want to wait 30 minutes for your car to charge or fill up in two minutes? Don't you want a car that's so loud, everyone in your street wakes up when you start it at 6 in the morning? What if we told you that everything you desire is available TODAY? Buy a gasoline car" Customers have moved on, the industry has moved on (that goes for Intel and electric cars). Why not follow or better yet, start the next thing, Intel?
To me it comes off as a very make-believe, desperate move where Intel simply has nothing to brag about. As a CPU manufacturer, it's weird to see them hyping every other feature _except_ their CPUs. Its like they themselves have lost faith in their own product. They know they can't compete, so they try to point out any other features Apple lacks, even if those features are niche and lacklsutre. The actors don't help either.
Imagine a computer where the operating system was designed, built and supported by the same people that built the hardware... ALL the hardware. What if I told you that "you can have this now?" .

Instead of hitting them where it hurts. Which really isn't hard! . ALL your points are spot on. And very funny too! . I don't get how Apple bashing benefits Intel especially as their processors are (as of now) in MacPros! Surely AMD bashing makes more sense? If any bashing be required... . 'Bashing' of any kind has to be done cleverly and manipulatively or not at all. Intel really need to review their marketing and advertising strategy (I have an idea but I ain't givin' it away free) else AMD will wipe them out. Equally, if AMD (and others) don't come out with something power efficient, they're dead too. Another RUclipsr expressed concerns about this and it really seems x86 / CISC / power hungry computing, is already a thing of the past.

As a Mac user, if someone asked "what is your laptop missing" I would say things like FaceID or ProMotion. Not "touchscreen". I find touchscreens on laptops to be ridiculous when you have a good trackpad.
@TV_Alt if anything is going to cause wrist pain, it’s using a vertical touch screen
Well pro motion is here heh

I believe this is the reason why Win11 did that
Same. Probably hot take.... but personally, I don't see any need for it to be so. I say let it be good at what it's good at and stop trying to make it like the other thing just because people want it to be more like their other one. Simplicity is the key for apple
What i mean is i dont have to go through 3 generations of ui just to change display settings:D
As Jony Ive said in the iOS 7 intro video.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
Having to use a Windows laptop for work at times is okay UNTIL I need to change settings. It's mad that what you pointed out is a thing.

Well, I’d like to customise my 2020 MacBook Pro:
I’d like to change the Intel Core i5 for an M1 chip 👍🏼
It's insulting to think customers are stupid enough to fall for junk like that. If they are real people then they are just excited to be doing a "thing" because they'll be in a commercial or whatever. If your an Apple fan you won't want to use a pc because you've already taken the advantages and disadvantages into consideration before you bought a Mac I would hope. 🤦♂️
Yuuup. This is reminding me of those Chevy commercials with “real people, not paid actors” who are just “paid people that aren’t professionally-trained actors.”
You would be incorrect
You're literally reminded which laptop model you're using every time you open it up. And there are only TWO (MacBook Air or MacBook Pro). It's not difficult to remember.
Windows laptops, on the other hand ... there are so many of them and with weird names like Dell Inspiron 5515 that people have troubles remembering.
I can imagine Windows users going like: "Yeah, I have a Dell/Asus/Acer..." and flounder when they're asked which model they're using. I can't imagine any Mac user who cannot tell whether their laptop is an Air or a Pro.

Throughout that time, I almost never used the touchscreen, and I almost never used the tablet functionality, except for showing it as a gimmick.
@TV_Alt hmm I am actually also a mobile developer myself. Not sure how touch screens can contribute to my work?
0:46 - probably because they fear them the most... 🤷♂️
Yep, if M1 beat them, they know what will happen when the next level of that M1 arrives on the next week.
NO those people in the store are thinking "those products are whatever the Intel rep says they are....."
It’s like Intel is the bitter ex-girlfriend who’s trying to recruit mutual friends after the break up. 😂
You know Apple’s M series chips are phenomenal when Intel is feeling threatened by them
I saw this add and it was just so cringe.
The fact that a brand can explicitly diss a rival brand in a USA ad still baffles me to this day

Why the f**k would someone use a “mouse-centric” userface with fingers? Touchscreens on laptops make no sense
It is a terrible AD, but the way Apple fans behave sometimes makes me believe this is true 🤣

2:18 - I still remember that one guy in one of Arun's old vids where he asked what people thought the best looking phone in his hands were, and one guy squinted, saw the Apple logo on one, and was all like "tHe qUalItY" or something. The problem with people like MKBHD and the audience here is confirmation bias. They just think because most here are somewhat tech enthusiasts or knowledgeable, that everyone is. But the fact is most people are not. Most people dont care about tech or inform themselves properly. There are plenty of people that just buy apple because of brand reputation and status.
@@kreativeGG There's also general internet bias too. Anyone on the internet long enough would be weary to claim things like "I'm 100% loyal to [insert company]", but those that don't really read/write comments wouldn't likely have that bias.
@@KentoCommenT yeah I agree with that for sure.

Apple users not using the word “mac” or “macbook”. That’s a giveaway. Lol.
Imagine a computer where the operating system was designed, built and supported by the same people that built the hardware... ALL the hardware. What if I told you that "you can have this now?" .
