About the viper wolves Jake did wander into their nest at night all alone so they probably felt that they was being attacked and also they have night vision and home field advantage so who wouldn’t try attack. I'd wait for the extended cut. There is only so much time they had to tell their story the extended cut of the first movie expanded a lot more on the story.
I didn't think them knowing from the beginning about Spider's father was unrealistic - it wasn't that big a base and his mother did name him Miles, it would only take one person knowing and telling Jake and his inner circle. I honestly didn't mind, it prevented a Luke and Darth Vader moment.
And yes, Jake is way too hard on his sons in this movie, Lo'ak especially, but I would keep an open mind, his character ark is not done yet. He was a flawed father, yes, which is not that unrealistic - he was only 22 when became a father, we don't know what sort of example he grew up with and the entire movie he's stressed, first running a guerilla group, then trying to make it work in their new so they don't get expelled. There is room for growth.

Trying to be a MILITARY LEADER when his side is the underdog and in constant danger is probably a major stress for anyone and being a parent with 3 children (4 of you count ADOPTED) is a big stress even during peaceful tranquil times. Raising children is never easy.
He is BOTH of the above. I could NEVER combine raising 4 children AND being a military leader during an ongoing conflict AT THE SAME TIME and to boot he is having to adjust mentally and physically to the fact that his human body is dead and he will never again be a human being which he was for the first part of his life. He has a lot on his metaphorical plate.

    • @CristinaGarcia-xx4gy
      @CristinaGarcia-xx4gy Год назад +2

@@Zurround exactly! I've said this in another comment but the whole character ark for Jake in this movie is that he has been blinded by fear for his children and that led him to step down as leader and try to move far away and "retire", so to speak. He needed to have his eyes opened that this danger will only spread and nowhere will be safe soon - which he did, right at the end.
Also, it is plainly shown that he was not like that in peace time and he is hardest to the kids who are warriors, the ones who will need the skills the most.
Lo'ak's ark makes a lot sense if you consider that he IS the middle child, which has been proven in psychology (a degree no one in this situation has) that the middle children get the least attention, and are even scapegoated more - you can see at the end Jake's also had his eyes open in that regard.
Also Lo'ak is the most like younger Jake and the most human one - so there might be some feelings there where Jake can't quite face having a mirror held up to him like that.

Lo' ak doesn't really seem to understand this until the end of the battle, which is why he basically expresses that he thinks his parents think Neteyam is perfect and he's just a disappointment. I'm pretty sure that Jake is just worried about Lo'ak starting something that will have devastating consequences and he doesn't want him to have to carry such a burden.

RDA Quaritch saving Spider from Neytiri killing him is one of the main reasons why Spider saved Quaritch because it shows that he cared for Spider. While it may have been a dumb decision, I understand his point of view. I think Spider didn't go with him because of his horrible actions. While his siblings seem to care about him (especially Kiri), Jake and especially Neytiri don't really seem to care. Overall, it's all setting up for the third one, among other things. I have a feeling Quaritch will go through a Redemption Arc in the next few films because Spider and Pandora is changing him. (similar to Darth Vader) and maybe even at one point, he'll work together with Jake and the Sully family to take down the RDA. Who know where this story will go? The main reason of why I think Jake acted like that to his children in front of the Metkayina, especially R'onal and Tonowari because of the psychology of father who asked for his family's staying in a strangers' place. Which had to respect the leader and his family or else they risked getting outcasted. I hope this help you understand the psychology of each character, a thumb up for me for this movie.

The thing that I didn't like about Amrita is, not only the fact that they drop the bomb that the substance stops human aging and don't elaborate further, but also that I don't want to justify the actions of the Tulkun hunters, but they are basically collecting the most important substance in the history of mankind. I'd have prefered that Amrita had a more mundane reason to be collected. For example, instead of saying that it stops human aging, they had said something like "Some rich people on earth *believe* that this can stop their aging. There's no scientific proof of that but they are willing to pay a lot of money for it so we are willing to provide". Not only aboids a huge lore bomb like that being forgotten like nothing, but also is more realistic since that happens in real life: humans killing endangered species for the dumbests of reasons.

  • @aleksbug853
    @aleksbug853 Год назад +27

The moment it was revealed that they kill tulkuns for this substance that stops aging was one of the most heart breaking moments of the movie for me. Just like the destruction of the home-tree is so devastating for me because of it painfully remainds me of what was, is and will be lost in the real world. Humans trying to escape death by stealing life from other creatures was kind of similar reminder. With the ending when Jake and Neytiri ultimately accept death of Neteyam, it builds very coherent message: each energy is only a borrow, not willing to return it, not accepting death will lead to disruption of balance, stealing life from others. And that's why Earth is dying. It was just the one line, but have profoundly impacted me.

ah I was waiting for this video! Got myself a snack and then watched it all the way through :)
You know how I feel/what I thought about pretty much everything haha so for once I don't have much to say.
I do think I can (maybe) "explain" something you wondered about at the 10 minute mark. Why the viperwolves don't attack the Recoms even though they did attack Jake in the first movie, as did the Thanator. I think you're conflating two "attack motivations" here.
General Ardmore refers to the banshees swarming the helicopters, if they spend too much time in the mountains, as an "immune response". It's what first happened at the end of the first movie: the wildlife responds to Eywa's direction, to attack the invaders. Apparently Eywa kept defending Pandora that way. It is this immune response that the Recoms do not trigger. This is visualized by the viperwolves not blindly attacking them.
When Jake got lost in the first Avatar and was attacked by the Thanator and the viperwolves, those were not examples of that "immune response". The Thanator and the viperwolves were simply hunting. The animals of Pandora still do this. They are still dangerous animals. As we see the banshee fight back against Quaritch when he tries to bond with it. The animals just won't do the swarming thing where they go in for the kill for no reason other than to defend Pandora.
I think if instead of a couple of viperwolves, the Recoms had run into a Thanator, it would have still tried to kill them as part of regular hunting behavior. And if it had been dark and a Recom had become isolated from the group, a pack of viperwolves would have attacked - as they did with Jake. Right now it was broad daylight and the viperwolves were outnumbered by the Recoms.
So maybe they don't show it the right way in the movie, to make this clear, but I don't personally see it as a contradiction or inconsistency.
And just like that, I still managed to have a lot to say oops sorry about that.

I'm looking forward for Avatar the Way of Water's extended cut and all the extended, deleted and unfinished scenes.
    - I love Lo'ak's relationships with Tsireya and Payakan. He is feels kinda outcast with the latter, thus leading to the mutual understanding of each other. And I also like it how Lo'ak gets attracted with Tsireya upon seeing her for the first time and developes a crush for her, which Tsireya seemingly returns with similiar attraction. Their teenager romance seems to be build in the several weeks the Sully family spends with Metkayina, while it took from Jake and Neytiri whole three months to grow closer, bond and fall in love with each other. I also loved how Tsireya's feelings for Lo'ak make her more understanding and supportive towards his troubled soul due to his status as an outcast. Also, RDA and Quaritch kidnapping Tsireya, Tuk and Lo'ak into the net reminded me somewhat the kidnapping scene from Lilo and Stitch film.
    - I was very shocked by Neteyam's death even though it was rumored already, because I so hoped that it won't be true until Neteyam got shot by Wainfleet during of his, Loak's and Spider's escape from the ship and his funeral was so sad and touching. 😢😢😢😢😢 But I was even more shocked by Neytiri's blind lust for blood when she slaughtered the Sea Dragon crew with such of violent berserk rage, and how she even threatened Spider's life after Quaritch took Kiri as a hostage.
    - I also loved Spider's role here. He posses the firm and emotional loyalty towards Sully family and Na'vi in general to the point of standing up for them, but has a complex feelings towards the recom version of his true father, even if he is left disgusted by his antagonistic and cruel ways towards Na'vi. I'm not sure, but maybe Spider has a rather begrudgingly made though that perhaps there is at least some good in Quaritch despite everything he has put him and the Na'vi Sully through.

I loved the movie but there were to many things that i tought was missing.
    1. The recoms barely had any dialogues and they got killed too quick and easy. Very dissapointing considering the hype and all the info about them before the movie even came out. They looked tough and badass but looked like ants in the movie.
    2. 0 scenes on shown on earth! How!!!?? They could have shown how the venture stars depart from earth with the big lasers etc... Considering that they sent like 12 of them and that they was also new and improved. It looked like they just came for Sully (later explained that earth was dying and that they eventually wanted to colonize pandora).
    3. I would have hoped that they would shown how Bridgehead was built. We just saw multiple venture stars for some reason de-orbiting as we know that they are not built for de orbiting. They could atleast have shown how they built it, with the new tech and robots they talked about, and if there were other bases because you could see venture stars scorching other areas far away. The supply maglev trains also does not explain were they were going or were they were coming from.
    4. All in all, the beginning was waaaay to rushed in my opinion. More family scenes, maybe some scenes with Norm.
    5. There were too many black screen transitions or whatever its called. It didnt suck you in for and exciting moment and it felt like very flat.
    5. There were almost no Na Vi spoken, especially with the other clan and them talking to eachother. It just didnt feel right that even the navi chose to speak english.
    6. Its a crime that they didnt talk more about Amrita and that it is the sole reason for RDA´s presence on pandora. Unobtanium was the reason on their long operation before they departed. And it was atleast explained in the first movie what it had for purposes. Amrita for me seemed like a game changer of a new plot and could be talked about more stating that it is so expensive and also what why they wanted to stop human aging.
The movie was awesome and a visual masterpiece. definitely a strong 8/10.

"Why did the viperwolves attack Jake in the first movie but not Quaritch and his team?"
I think the answer is that the attack on Jake was a normal type of attack/hunt against someone that's loudly bumbling through their jungle, while the attacks that General Ardmore describes are more focussed and dangerous, because Eywa is still mobilized against the humans in that particular area (the mountains), from back when Jake spoke to her before the final battle. So Quarritch might have been attacked by the wildlife, if they were seen as potential prey, but they wont be attacked in the way that the fauna attacked the helicopter fleet in Avatar 1.

Despite it not being explained, I think they know the truth. First I felt like you but then I understood this. Payakan was responsible for their deaths because the tulkun don't kill and don't fight back (we check that when they are being hunted), and it was his idea to do that, resulting in their deaths much like Lo'ak caused that conflict by going to save payakan. It's not anyone's fault, but it is the moral code of the tulkun. Therefore payakan is considered a killer and Lo'ak eventually did the same. Which is sad but makes payakan and Lo'ak even more relatable!

I think this movie was a great introduction to another part of pandora that we know nothing of. It gave us a little something but not everything which makes me wonder what the other movies will be like. In A2 it is well established that humans are here and many more are coming as Earth is dying off. The idea that your consciousness can be transferred to Navi body is terrifying. The idea that the Tulkan's brain fluid can stop aging making one almost immortal is also terrifying. Yes so many questions unanswered in A2 for a reason.
I have a feeling that spider will end up with Kiri as we see how protected he is of her. The way he looks at her and towards the end when he was helping her as the ship was sinking mirrors titanic jack and rose. Spider's motive was not really fleshed out. He seems wishy washy but I can attribute that to him being young and conflicted when confronted with his human vs Navi side. But Spider and Kiri arc will be later in A4 and possibly A5 as we explore who or what is Ewya and humans overtaking Pandora. I do believe A3 will focus more on LoAk. He will be burden with the death of Neteyam. He will blame himself for it which will lead him to be more of an outcast and seeking his own heroines journey. He will of course seek out Payakan for the adventure and tseirya will have to choose to go with him or stay with her people.

I think the viperwolves attacked Jake because he was alone and easy prey. The recoms were in a large group and heavily armed.
I think there is one scene where Quaritch says that Jake has "gone to ground", so maybe the RDA noticed that the raids stopped and that's why they assumed that he had left.
I get why Spider decided to go with Quaritch. The kid (he's only 15 at the start of the movie) didn't want to be tortured anymore.
Jake didn't know that it was Aonung's fault, because Lo'ak lied for him and took all the blame.
Theory: Kiri didn't meet Grace but Eywa in Grace's form (because Kiri herself is possibly Grace reincarnated). Whatever happened to Kiri also happened on Eywa's side of the connection as the Spirit Tree went completely dark. It's like both of them had a blackout.
Yeah, I hope they explain amrita eventually. This seems like such a game changer.

Spider even explicitly says that the blue he paints on himself makes him feel like he’s running faster and let’s him sneak past the animals, after the RDA’s attack on home tree, and the final battle that any human kicks the “immune system” of the plant making them a target, and is why the Blue Squad wasn’t attacked by the Viper Wolves.

He didn't really need to become clan leader as well (and from a Na'vi standpoint it doesn't make sense either if you go off of pure practicality, because of the simple reason that Jake wasn't fully integrated into the Omaticaya culture yet; he did go through the rites of passage but he wasn't fluent in Na'vi yet and very likely didn't know all the customs and ways of the Omaticaya yet either. Tsu'tey grew up in their clan and thus knew all about it, he or even one of his fellow warriors would've made a better candidate). Things u misunderstood in my o pinion
    1. The reason the Thanataurs attacked jake in the first movie and the reason they don't attack Quaritch and CO are completely unrelated. Quaritch and CO are being sent in because of the "Immune response" which is referring to Eywa hearing Jake in the first movie. Eywa is defending that entire area and never stopped doing so. This is why they haven't just flown into the Mountains and Blew High Camp to Hell and back. Thats why the RDA only has 10 minutes of airtime before they get Avatar 1'ed.
    2. Quaritch and Spider being Father and Son doesn't have to be this "Luke I am your father" moment to be good. It's even implied that EVERYONE is Spider's life knows about Quaritch judging by Kiri's initial comment when they are at the camp. The main point is that DESPITE every logical point that they should hate each other, A Father and Son's bond goes deeper than blood. When Spider is with the Sullys, he is outwardly unloved by Neytiri, but when he is with Quaritch he feels like he is being useful and even loved at times. This of course fades a bit once Quaritch starts "War-Criming", but the point remains. No matter what happens they still FEEL a connection. To quote Neytiri from Avatar 1, "...Spirit is all that matters".
Once Spider gets Confirmation at the end that his Father feels something for him as well, He cannot let him die in front of him. He saves him, but doesn't owe him any more than that.
    3. Quaritch and CO did NOT stop looking for Jake and the Sullys once they left high camp. They realised they can't just Go in and keep Yoinking his kids, so they decide to "Go Full Na'vi". This is for two reasons
Firstly Quaritch wants to utilize the Na'vi bodies him and his squad are now in. They tried going in with normal human tactics and they got clowned on by Two people. Giving everyone a Banshee to ride and whatnot makes his combat force more effective overall
Secondly Quaritch promises to Spider that he wont make him Betray Jake Sully, and he is genuine with that. He has Spider Indirectly help them (Being an Interpreter, "Helping" to get the Banshees) so that his son doesn't have his brain microwaved by the Scientists back at Beachhead City. He's keeping his son out fo harms way while still completing his mission of vengeance.
Once Quaritch and CO receive info on where a Rogue Gunship might have been (Somewhere far away from high camp) Quaritch makes the call that it must be Sully since the Omatikaya are the only Clan with stolen Gunships. Only THEN do they realise that they ran. If Kiri hadn't had that Siezure Jake's plan could have worked is the implication I got while watching.
    4. Lo'ak could NOT have just Explained away Payakan's involvement in the death of Tuul'kun and Na'vi as "oh but he didn't kill any of them". There is a line from Tsireya after the meeting that explains why this is. Lo'ak tells her about what happened, but Tsireya responds "By the Tuul'Kun way he is (a killer)". Directly or not Payakan incited Conflict that resulted in the deaths of dozens of people's lives (Na'vi and Tuul'Kun). Tsireya Saying this confirms that the Tuul'Kun way is akin to pure Pacifism. Not only is directly killing Forbidden, if you take action that LEADS to killing you have still killed someone, However indirectly. Personally I didn’t mind that there was no hype or dramatic scene about who spider’s dad was. That doesn’t fit James’ more realistic style. Spider and all the other characters know who his dad is, hence why they talk about it normally. It’s only us, the audience, who don’t know. We shouldn’t be so disappointed that it’s a casual conversation, because we have to remember that these characters have had lives off screen that we haven’t seen. I thought it was the perfect way to go about it, no unnecessary plot twists or dramatic moment; just a simple side comment by two characters who already knew that information

This saga needs a human that is both a complete humanist (Loyal to humanity and not the RDA) and with solid argumentation for its actions. Somebody that sees the bigger picture of the crisis humanity is, while simultaneously acknowledging pandora and Eywa as a whole and not only for material resources/excessive consumerism's sake. Somebody that is laser-focused on its mission but at the same time is critical of the methods they're using to achieve said objective. Someone more cunning and less trigger-happy. Somebody that actually respects its rivals.
My personal choice for this figure would be one of a scientist/Engineer. But also a corporate agent for RDA with some military training.
He goes to Pandora to supervise the colonization efforts as a counsellor for the generals that plan the safety of the operation.
He's obsessed with both Eywa and Pandora's life, (maybe even a secret admirer of Grace Augustine). It's convinced that they're pandora's most vital resources (Even more than Unobtanium and Amrita).
He dislikes RDA's current methods of scorching the Earth and brutal submission of the local life and goes like a Rouge Inside RDA's ranks. Avoiding unnecessary loss of life while making advances to exploit the mineral and biological resources of Pandora for Humanity's sake (Even fucking over RDA in the process). Manages to contact Eywa as a human (Maybe a little genetic engineering would help) and negotiate/extort her for whatever she can do.
I suspect that Eywa is responsible for Pandora's dramatic overabundance of biological niches and adaptations. Maybe she can compute and design those, a capability that can help humanity develop a way to produce Amrita, Unobtanium and many other valuable substances without destroying pandora. And using a superluminal beacon to transmit this knowledge to Earth. Ending up in RDA's collapse as other companies/governments would be able to produce and outcompete RDA.

There was no joy in his killing, he died becuase he was the enemy, and that to me is more impactful instead of cinematically dramatizing how he died. It goes to show that the villains aren't some purely evil people, they were just doing their job.

Spider was my favorite character in the film, I don't think he ever is in league with the RDA, he's rebelling in small ways where he can throughout.
My favorite moment in the movie is where he picks up the fire extinguisher on the bridge of the Sea Dragon and starts wrecking house. I also laughed when he had to hide from Neytiri at the end, I was like: stay hidden dude! That mother is on the warpath!
Ultimately I thought that Spider was a very wise character.

20:25 eclips is not night time. night time is when the sun (or in their case alpha centauri A) goes below the horizon due to the rotation of the world. eclips is when centauri goes behind polythemus. a day-night cycle would be like sunrise -> first half of the day -> eclips -> second half of the day -> sunset -> night. it is like a solar eclips only it happens dayly due to polythemus being so large in the sky. eclips would be much shorter than night, but also be more sudden with barely any kind of twilight. on pandora it would also be much darker than nighttime since during the night polythemus would still reflect a lot of light from centauri which does not happen during eclips. the darkness would also depend on the current location of alpha centauri B, which is a second star in the system that would look dimmer than A from pandora but would still be many times brighter than the full moon seen from earth.

I'll be honest there are a lot of comments I just find very weird in this video.
    - About the General: Why does she need to be in the plot all the time? She served a purpose, Avatar is clearly already set up for a 5 film minimum, yes she'll be in future films but why is it a bad thing she didn't get a tonne of screen time when we already have Quarrich as the main villain?
    - Viperwolves: Firstly they only attacked Sully at night, they also only attacked him when he was alone. No, the two Viperwolves on screen weren't dumb enough to attack 8+ Avatars. I always got the assumption that Pandora became more magical, but dangerous, at night.
-JuSt TaLk To JaKe: Sully was the leader of one tribe, of which there were many others. One can assume he would have a lot of pull though due to his exploits, but either way what would the Humans say that would change anything? 'Ah yeah man, Earth is dying (it already was in Avatar 1), sorry we burnt down acres of forest, have no respect for your planet, kill your animals and steal your resources, but we want to bring millions if not billions of Humans here. Sound good?'. What would Sully say? 'Ah yeah cool water under the bridge, them rockets that killed whole forests was kinda dope. Here come live right next to us we'll get along fine'. Silly comment to make tbh.
    - Spider/Quarrich: Does it need to be a mystery that he was the father? I suppose it would have been an interesting reveal, but I'd hardly say coming out of the gate and making it obvious is a bad thing. It explains immediately why Ney'teri hates the kid, it prevents a long mystery plot that would be really obvious (who else would it be? There was hardly any named Humans in Avatar other than Quarrich and Selfridge who were on the bad guys team), and it comes into the plot later as a way to get Quarrich more in tune with Pandora by learning from the kid. You bring this up again later on how it should have been a mystery who Spider's father is, which I disagree and think would have just added more run time for very little pay off.
-Bridgehead: Whilst it would have been cool to see more of it, do we really need to? It's clearly a giant base, bigger than previous, with loads of humans. Would staying here do much for the plot? Not really. I'd rather see more of the planet.
    - Unable to find Sully in the forest: It's pretty obvious they were looking for Sully in the forest, but they weren't able to know exactly where they are due to interference and such. Whilst they're searching for that lead, and whilst the Avatars are investigating and all that, they find out the lead that Sully/his kids are in the islands where the water Na'vi are. Sully leaving shows that Sully understands how dangerous the humans are. Would the RDA have found their tribe? Probably with time, but they stopped going that route once they knew he wasn't in the forests anymore. You bring this up again later, again, there is no indication they just gave up looking for Sully in the forest until they had the new lead and I'm not sure where you got that from.
    - Kiri holding breath: Firstly she's off screen for a long time, she could have easily gone up for air. Secondly we know the sully kids can hold their breath for a long time and part of that is relaxing, slowing the heartbeat, all those lessons with the sea tribe. Kiri, the clear embodiment of Eywa, is pretty damn relaxed and vibing. She isn't in the water panicking or uncomfortable like the sully kids were at first. I do think that the fact that the Sully kids go 'yo, where tf is kiri?!' and then 10 seconds later completely forget worrying about her is weird.
-Lo'ak scolding: Yeah, it happens to much and really makes Sully look like a shit father to be fair. Why he didn't step up and do anything like you said is really obvious though, they're in a strangers home so apologise and look pretty so we don't get kicked out was the vibe of a lot of his behaviour even if it happened too much. Also the adults didn't know anything about the Whale or the Shark, at least when he was being scolded, which would have changed things if it was mentioned.

I've been anticipating this film for 13 yrs, but I was very ill so I finally saw it yesterday. The first Avatar was the best theater experience I've ever had & was floored by the 3D. Avatar 2 was probably my worst theater experience, because I now wear glasses & the 3D glasses created a weird shadow over one eye. I felt like I was watching a 2D movie through sunglasses and a periscope. But I could still tell the CGI was so much better, the texture of the Navi was incredible. Overall, I thought the story/characters/music suffered a pretty big decline from the first; I wasn't moved emotionally the way I was during the original. The combat scenes were excellent, Neytiri was incredible, but she didn't have much to do for most of the movie. Kate Winslet's character seemed unnecessary. Quaritch was great; Stephen Lang is a brilliant actor; I completely forgot about what he looked like in the first film because he was so convincing as an avatar. I think there were too many characters & the story wasn't as focused and simple as the first. Jake being a paraplegic & restarting his life on a new world while falling in love was a great empathetic story. Maybe I'll try to see it again in a better theater. The sound in my theater was terrible; I could hear music from the next screening room throughout the entire movie, and the house lights came on during the middle of the film. But I gotta figure out how to make my prescription glasses + 3D glasses work.

Definitely would’ve sucked to grow up on a spaceship and then obviously they would’ve had to raise him. That also assumes there was crew switching between being active and being in cryo. He had good plot armor because of the role he had to play for Quaritch. Excited to see the role he’ll end up playing in the rest of the moves.

After neteyam had passed and the battle on the ship was over, jake hugged him and said naytiri’s words “a son for a son” indicating spider was now under their wings. So i deffinetly think that dynamic will be very different from their other kids, especially when naytiri finds out spider saved quaritdch. Spoilers! (duh)
Quatritch was hands down my favourite character to watch in this entire film.
    Let me explain:
I knew he was stringing Spider along during the interrogation room scene, but I was hoping it wouldn't be the end. Every time he was on screen with Spider I was watching their interactions like a hawk. Facial tics and movements from hands. I honestly forgot it was an act and started looking for ways that he (Q) was being genuine.
    SO
When Neytiri was threatening Spider and he practically disowned him, I was like WHAAAAT because the acting was THAT GOOD and my poor little naive butt bit into it. The first movie is like this for me too - every time I see the escape scene where Grace is shot, I keep thinking "if they're a little faster they got this," or "Trudy turn the ship earlier."
BUT THEN HE GAVE KIRI UP AND I'M LIKE YES HAHAHA FEEL FEAR AND A RESPONSIBILITY FOR SOMETHING BESIDES YOURSELF AND THE DRA MWUAHAHAHA
So... Quatritch... just.... I am most excited for him. "Want vs Need" for character storytelling and all - so far we have Want, but what is the Need... I cannot wait to see the upcoming internal conflict!!! AAAA!!!

Overall I loved the entire movie, it's hard for me not to like something that James Cameron has put his heart and soul into. Sigourney Weaver playing the teenage Kiri was a bit weird, but personally I didn't really care. I don't think we'll see the kids stay kids for too long. Like in the next movie and onwards (lets hope and pray we get more after 3) I think we'll have a montage of where the kids are still kids, but then it goes to where they are like young adults. Maybe Jake and Neytiri will have another kid, not to replace Neteyem, but to have another one (besides I don't think birth control is really that much of a thing among the Na'vi, even with Jake). I also love all the characters and how the teenagers behaved like teenagers. I still kinda want a scene where we see a human mom and a Na'vi mom have a bonding moment over motherhood and how no matter the species kids are a lot to handle.
The scene where Jake gave up being Clan leader moved me. The Omataya became more than just a clan, they became his extended family and friends. I could tell that T'sutey's younger brother has a lot of respect for Jake, you can just tell it in the younger brother's face. Like if the comics are cannon, I don't think the younger brother holds the same type of anger or negativity towards Jake as his parents do. He did not want to outcast Jake and his family. I also kinda believe that Jake and Neytiri will be allowed to visit the clan when they want, maybe with some restrictions. I just don't see them being permnately outcast from the clan, Neytiri's mom is still there and I don't think Mo'at can go her whole life without ever seeing her only family member again.
I'll admit the scene where they first flew to the Metkeyna clan, Ronal kinda scared me. Also how Jake said it's not him you've got to worry about it's Ronal. However Jake promising they'll learn their ways and learn to be sea people seemed to win her over.
I'll fully admit I didn't expect Kiri to have a seizure under the water, but to me at least it makes sense. My reasoning being is Grace can't tell Kiri who her father is because I believe Grace had absolutely no knowledge that she had even been pregnant. I do however, believe that when they connected Kiri's Queue to the Tree of Souls was when Grace in the afterlife found out that she had a daughter or Kiri went to her sometime after. So when Kiri asked who her dad was that caused Kiri (and maybe even Eywa to a degree) to have that seizure. I still kinda believe Kiri is space Jesus, I honestly don't really care. It's not going to stop me from watching.
The scene when the Tulkuns returning really moved me. I loved seeing them reconnecting with their sea family. Also the scene with Ronal and her spirit sister really moved me. Which made it all the more painful when they killed her spirit sister and the calf. The RDA killed a child simply to just leave a message. I think I scared the people a few seats away from us with how feral I went when the RDA people began getting killed off and Neytiri went on the rampage. Got a little bit too into the movie.
Overall I think it's a phenomenal movie. I plan on seeing it multiple times.

The fact that Spider is Quaritch's son and everybody in the film already knows it is not so much a problem for me, rather the problem is that in the marketing buildup they kept this fact concealed and treated it like a big mystery. Everybody following along already knew that Miles Jr. Socorro was the son of Col. Miles Quaritch.
I think it would have added a lot if this were put out there in the open right away during the marketing buildup of the last month or so, have plenty of interviews with Jack Champion and Stephen Lang together, "So, Jack, what was it like to play this guy's son?" I think it would have helped people outside of the Avatar fandom to be drawn more into this new story.

1:10 That's an interesting thought. Maybe Jake makes video logs for prosperity in case the RDA successfully destroys Aywa and the Na'vi can no longer upload memories or see their ancestors. Maybe that's what Avatar: The Seed Bearer is about and Kiri somehow becomes the seed that restores Aywa.
4:00 I don't think the one-year time jump was needed. Why didn't the Ometakya people attack when the humans first arrived? Wouldn't they have been more vulnerable in Cryo? It felt like the Na'vi didn't do anything until after the humans were settled in.
10:16 I thought the Recoms would dress as Na'vi to further explore that theory since Jake was almost killed by the thanator and viperwolves, but nope.
16:56 I would have liked to see what happened to the Ometakya clan after the Sullys left. I felt Quaritch's interrogation scene with the Metkayina people would've had a more emotional impact if it was instead Norm, Max, Mo'At, and the Ometakya people and that's how Quaritch learns about Jake's whereabouts.
36:34 A few things could have been explained more or even vaguely alluded to possible answers that kept me thinking and guessing instead of feeling confused and lost.
37:52 The fact that they reused a lot of dialogue and shots from the first film frustrated me. At times I felt like I was rewatching the first film and it took me out of the experience.
