Good on you guys. That's the way how you bring up the presa and all other dogs. If every dog owner does the same thing you doing we all should have incidents. Dogs are like human, if you socialise you become friendly, if you don't, you stay uncivilised. 👍👌😍

@@vibha44 we are still working with Commander. Nipping is still an issue. We just have to correct it on the spot. We use a prong collar when his energy starts going in the wrong direction. Usually fixes things right away.

Glad this was not a battle or an attack or anything. Battles between these breeds can get intense. There are videos online of battles between these two breeds that show how ugly it can get. Some videos are on a site called mymailru. In most of the ones I have seen, believe it or not, the American Pitbulls win most of the time. I know it sounds crazy given the size difference, but there is a reason why the American Pitbull is the top dog for combat sports like bear baiting, wild boar baiting, and dog combat as well as for the strength sport of weight pulling and is known and used around the world for these competitive sports while the presa canario is hardly seen or talked about being used for those things today. Presa canarios are strong and tough dogs too, and they can be used for combat and weight pulling, but the American Pitbull is just better and more tenacious at those things in general.
Thanks for sharing this info! We've never really seen the weight pull or other competitive sports but sounds like something to experience for sure. But your right combat can be intense. No combat for our boy Commander tho. He is naturally suspicious and protective so we are more s working on his socialization with other dogs. So far so good. Other than the occasional show of dominance he hasn't shown any dog aggression.
What are you smoking bro? Presa's destroy most APBT's, the only fights a pit will ever win are ones that last longer than 10mins, most done, presa's end it way before then. The reason Presa's are not as well known is that they are way rarer, a newer breed and super expensive/hard to own. You know nothing about dogs and are probably one of those people who think game pit's are the top dogs lol

i just got my presa last week he's 9 weeks old lol he already acts bigger than he is. my old bulldog doesn't care for him either so i'm worried about his social skills as he gets older too

I 100% agree... I've raised one that is now 2 yr and 1 mo old and we did a lot of socialization with him He also had a large Cane Corso (fully grown) as a puppy and went to Doggie Daycare happy hour 4 times a week.
How did you get the ears to go fully up and stop flopping forward
Although the Vet assured us both the ears would stand on their own, I was a little nervous that they wouldn't. Having previous experience with taping our boxer's ears, I kind of knew what to do. Commander's one ear just started standing on its own. The other ear I taped with some athletic and medical tape. You can find a bunch of suggestions on youtube or with direction of a vet, but either way its pretty simple to do. Practically one night of the ear being taped, it was standing pretty strong.
Better check him or he gonna be dog aggressive. And if something ever did happen everyone will call him a pitbull cause people are ignorant on breeds or dogs. Pretty pup though.

He needs all the socialization he can get! Thats for sure. We are working on his dog aggression. He lives with an older dog that wants nothing to do with him so he is kinda deprived of dog to dog interaction.
I kinda have that situation as well my Presa is 11 weeks and the other dog we have really wants nothing to do with him so I feel your pain but I'm in Hagerstown Maryland area if you ever interested there's not many Presa Canario's in these areas so I try to look for ones that's close by

Yes, Socialization is so very important! Commander literally goes everywhere we can take him! He gets introduced to as many dogs, people, places as we can!

There are only a very few real Presa Canario breeders left in the world. I would never buy a Presa that is not from The Canary Islands. The best in the world is Irema Curto Kennels. BTW, the Curto family are the ones that saved this breed from extinction. Outside of the islands and maybe mainland Spain, you are taking huge risk and will probably end up with a Presa mixed with something else. People are selling Presas that are mixed with other breeds to make them bigger, but they are not real Presas. There is no such thing as a 165 lb. Presa yet I see a bunch of breeders selling these huge dogs as Presas. I also see Preas that have droopy faces, wrinkly faces, etc. Again, not real Presas.

I own a presa great dog but a true American pitbull a real one that’s ADBA Registered will cut through any dog like a hot knife through butter and they did for over 100 years
