Whoa! This is a conversation that needs to be had among those who are "spiritual" as well as "scholarly". I think discernment is needed that's not based on historical or scholarly knowledge because if that's all you have, then that's all you know. The presumption is "there is nothing else to know" and when we run out of answers and find confusion - then we turn to God! Not for answers or solutions but to blame, accuse, and declare to be false because the version we received of him "doesn't match" our confusion. It is confusion to be taught and instructed by white racists who have neither admitted nor repented of the enslavement of your ancestors, while admonishing you to "repent" and serve a God who looks like they do! It is confusion to object to a presentation of GOD who looks like you do - in favor of the one who looks like those who oppress you! It is confusion to insist that "color doesn't matter" when your entire history in this country has been based upon it, including the murders of today committed by police who are justified by the states that employ them. I think we indeed need to revisit from whence the information came that told us "this and that" is the will of God to make us submissive and docile to some unfortunate occurrence. And I think we ought to "stop mixing apples with oranges" and expecting them to "line up in agreement'. Because the flesh is totally and solely about the flesh. There will be no "meeting of the mind" with the spirit. So, if all information is based on "scholarly" "historical" knowledge - why even question or bring GOD into it, who in fact is Spirit? What do you do - open up a book and "read all about him"? Sit in class and let others "teach and tell you"? When it comes to the things of the spirit, you can only speak about "what you know" not "what you are told". So we have many teachers who know the words but don't know the one who "spoke" them. And they are running around telling folks "what his will is or isn';t" ....when they never "heard from him". They simply read what he said and proceeded to dictate what was meant and did it in the flesh NOT according to Spirit! So we have ERROR and CONFUSION. Because the flesh seeks ONLY to serve the flesh. Now, whose church is it in operation? Gods or MANS?

Why burden yourself with the Bible if you don't believe all that it says. That is an excercise in a vain pursuit.
The Bible is written to the people of God. For those who are not, it is like reading someone else's mail. The salutation of the epistles clearly state "To the church..."
Everyone has free will. Steal, kill, commit idolatry and fornication.
The pleasures of sin are sweet for a season but the end thereof are the ways of death. You can write it in a table and note it in a book for it in a book.
I say not these things to condemn but it is because I love you that I tell you the truth.
Many are presumptuous and are wise in their own eyes because they say we see not knowing that they are blind and walking in darkness not knowing not where they go. And if the blind lead the blind they both fall into the ditch.
The wisdom of this world is earthly and sensual and the carnal man is not subject to the laws of God neither indeed can be because they are foolishness to him.
The weakness of God is stronger than men and the foolishness of God is wiser than men yet God chose the foolishness of preaching to save us all. Grace and Peace.

Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower is, in part, a discussion of how God is conceived (shaped) and how God shapes us in turn. The shapes are constantly changing because life is constantly changing. It’s very interesting. On another note, my great grandfather was a minister at a large, vibrant baptist church on the east coast. He had a PhD, read Latin, etc., and my grandmother asked him in her late teens why he taught her about God and the Bible in one way but allowed his congregation their own set of beliefs that didn’t necessarily mesh with his-in fact, he kept his most progressive views to himself and his family. His explanation was that you have to meet people where they are. The problem is, I don’t think he met them where they were and brought them forward because he was employed by his congregation.

I just bought the book. I love this UNDER-spoken topic. I used to be what was sold as a “Christian”. It is a dangerous place to be IMO. I think certain churches s/b closed. Peddling guilt & taking money. Thank you so much 💚🧡✨

Dr. Butler, you are so profound. And thank you Prof. Hunter, for finding so many great Black minds and bringing them to the world. God bless.
3/14/22 -- Listening to this again... That guy [your 1st caller] messed up when he said something about 'putting people on a pedestal' because of their HARD-EARNED titles. Although I'm not a Ph.D., God knows that B.A. was hard to get! Dudes like him get slapped for their disrespect... But Dr. B. took care of him.

So what she’s saying is God is all powerful except for white supremacy. He has the power to give and take life but he can’t get rid of white supremacy. What black people were praying for in 1700 they are still praying for in 2021. How? Make it make sense.

In the 1840s, Ireland suffered a devasting famine. The vast majority of the victims were Catholics.
Many Protestants at the time wrote and said, "This is God's will. Giving charity or any kind of assistance would be Sinful". Up to three million people died.
Similarly, in British controlled India, tens of millions of people died in famines while Christian British administrators and settlers OPPOSED aid on exactly the same terms that they had opposed aid to Irish Catholics - "God's will".
There are many Evil people in the World who use God to voice and implement their own evil.
I'm not sure that there is a God, but if there is, I want to be a fly on the wall when God confronts the many millions who did evil in God's name...

The very Bible which we say the caucasian man used to enslave us, explains in Deut. 28:64-68 that it was TMH who enslaved our ancestors (His chosen people) because of their disobedience, rejection of the One True God and engagement in Baal worship (which we learned from those whom TMH told us not to associate with - these instructions were given to the children of Israel).
Throughout the centuries, man (through religion) has added and twisted His Word!!
However, our merciful Yah offers redemption to His chosen people through Yahuah our Messiah.
There's a time for all things and in the fullness of time He shall return for his Bride (His redeemed)!!
BTW, I strongly disagree that the Messiah was 'Middle Eastern' (the Midle East didn't even exist then) and in the Book of Matthew, TMH told Joseph (Mary's husband) to take the baby and Mary and go into Egypt (which at that time was a Black country and was outside of Roman rule [It was King Herod who wanted to have the baby King killed]). The question then becomes, how would this Middle Eastern looking child be able to assimilate in Egyptian culture which at that time was totally Black? Our Messiah was a BLACK man, people!!!💯
