Footage of people browsing cars at a Ford dealership in Tysons Corner, Virginia. Shots of customers sampling cars, in the office, etc.. This video last around 12 minutes. #ford #fordmustang
Drove into a Ford Dealership in 1993, pouring rain. No one would even come out of the showroom except their oldest salesman with an umbrella. Bought two new Fords from him that day, one for me and one for my wife. Sold my car privately. That's why he was their top salesman.

@@DoggoneNexus I noticed it years ago watching reruns of 1970s game shows where the big prize was a new car, and they just looked like old relics even though they didn't have a single mile on them yet.
Yeah. But if you watch modern Nascar, you just see modern corporate crap going in a circle. Back in the day the old style cars were so much cooler. Like the Chevy Lumina, while it looks like a box on wheels now it was way cooler than what they use now.

For what it's worth "Northern Virginia" where this was filmed, is the wealthy region in the United States....or was back then. All the President Reagan military industry spending, also a black county called Prince George's is nearby, richest Black county in the United States.

I really miss having a true selection of colors. Nowadays even if you factory-select your color, the options are like… white vs. pearl white, maybe a matte color thrown in to spice it up.

No they weren’t! If you do the math it would be as unaffordable as today! Inflation every year made it more and more expensive, so if you bought a $14,000 car then, and do the math of what $14,000 dollars was in today’s dollars you would flip! And peoples salary wasn’t that high back then, average yearly salary at a good paying job was around 26-50 thousand a year. Depending on the profession!

No, not these cars you couldn't. Not even close and I can guaranty you no one shopping at Tyson's Ford in these videos are working for minimum wages. This is one of the richest areas of the country then and even more so now. I lived there just 5 years later and the average home price in that area back in 1999 was near $500,000.
@christschool He's not talking this specific area you 🤡 he's saying in general there were plenty of cars you could buy on minimum wage. Now you can barely afford to ride the bus on minimum wage let alone ever save money for a car.
LMAO I made minimum wage ($4.25) in 1992. I was driving a 25 year old bug with 190K on it. I never would have dreamed of buying a new car - even a geo metro on those wages.
Buying and getting a new car back then had a different feel to it you could actually enjoy the excitement unlike today you get a new car only to worry if you will be able to afford bills afterwards so basically all the fun and excitement of getting a new ride is non-existent for normal people that aren't rich

In Dec 1994 (searching for my '81 Skylark's replacement) I first tried Ford in Burlington City NJ. My boyfriend drove a Ford Escort and I test drove it but didn't like it. While waiting for the Ford seller to return, my boyfriend and I overheard sellers in the next cubicle talking about certain sexual acts. We were so offended over the unprofessionalism that we walked out and drove down the road to Auerbach Chevrolet. I leased a '95 Geo Prizm and the staff was classy. At work the next day, the Ford dealer called me about the Escort and I told him I got another car. He asked "Is it a Ford?" and I told him "No, I got a Geo." *Click* went the Ford guy's phone. Total jerk!

"how much is this car?" "thatll be 10k" "all i have is this burlao sac of potatoes, a ball of string, and a week old semi eaten pancake" "thatll do" - the 90s
The man buying the car looks like he is straight out of the movie Breakin' There's No Stopping Us. He's about 10 years behind, fashion wise in 1993. Driving gloves for one of these mustangs is so funny. The 90s American and Japanese cars I felt were horribly designed and they don't really stand the test of time like other era's. In 1993, I was working at NationsBank, now Bank of America, as an indirect auto lender. I booked nearly $300 million in car loans that year from all over the United States. I don't have proof, but I suspect I made more auto loans than anyone else in the United States during the 1990's. Mustangs were not huge sellers compared to other models and makes, but they did sell a lot of them. As a lender, Ford was not highly thought of as a lender making car loans. I think most people ended up financing through Ford Motor Credit because bank's would not lend over MSRP which most Ford buyer's paid out the door. Lots of bad credit buyers found their way into Ford dealerships because of the easy financing through Ford Motor Credit. However, this Tyson's Ford location, in Tysons Corner Virginia was different. This is one of the wealthiest areas of the US and there were lots of good credit customer's that walked through their doors.

I traded in my 1986 GT that I ordered from the factory for a new 93 Teal Cobra, grey interior. 😁. Think 1300 or so teal ones were built. Later bought 99 then 2004 Cobras. 60 now, I don't like the new stangs, look like toys, maybe my age 🤭

1994 mustangs on the lot in 1993, back when cars actually came out early :P.
This is December 1993. Most 2023 models came out last year.
Back when cars were actually affordable and you can buy extra packages to your car and still would be affordable
No they weren’t! If you do the math it would be as unaffordable as today! Inflation every year made it more and more expensive, so if you bought a $14,000 car then, and do the math of what $14,000 dollars was in today’s dollars you would flip! It would have cost you $29,830 today. And that was only for a plain Jane car without any options! And peoples salary wasn’t that high back then, average yearly salary at a good paying job was around 26-50 thousand a year. Depending on the profession!
Car dealers are right down there with journalists as the most despicable individuals in our society.

back when you could buy a car on minimum wage
No, not these cars you couldn't. Not even close and I can guaranty you no one shopping at Tyson's Ford in these videos are working for minimum wages. This is one of the richest areas of the country then and even more so now. I lived there just 5 years later and the average home price in that area back in 1999 was near $500,000.
@christschool He's not talking this specific area you 🤡 he's saying in general there were plenty of cars you could buy on minimum wage. Now you can barely afford to ride the bus on minimum wage let alone ever save money for a car.

Wow! It was still fun times in 1993! None of us even thought we'd see an electric Mustang Mach-E! _(4/2/2023)_
So, Ford was the KIA of financing back in the day🤣
