Since your an anime fan I think you'd appreciate Unleash which is their anime video. Pretty well done with high end production imo. They've also recently released From Now On which is an instrumental tour de force. That being said, their live performances are where they really shine. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Definitely the gateway drug into the Maid fandom but, my favorite as of late has been their instrumental, From now On *the official live version,* and a slightly older song, Different. Both are great at showing off their technical skills and musicianship as well as their artistry!
Band Maid's Secret Super Power is to sound familiar and make you nostalgic for rock you grew up on. It hit's so good. 2 of them love the maid outfits (the guitarists) the other 3 tolerate them, and if you watch enough of their videos you'll notice how much the other 3 stray from the maid esthetic over time. If you love the Bass, I'd recommend Dice. Really, just go to their channel and pick videos, you'll be fine. There aren't any bad ones (yes, this sounds like fanboy nonsense, but you'll learn)
I saw them in Dallas last October - and yes, you can't help but fall in love with them. It was awesome! They played "from now on" which is an instrumental, followed by "Rock in Me" and "Sayonakidori" which are Miku-led songs. You should react to any of those. There were several maids around me, one in particular with a white wig and a complete costume, so yes, I'll watch if you wear a maid outfit.

Yes, most of their music rocks hard but watch out for when they slow it down, quiet down, and get serious: no other band performs a torch song or ballad like they can. Check out "Daydreaming", "About Us", or "Page". Also check out their BAND-MAIKO videos, they're a hoot! They rewrote several songs as Japanese Folk-Metal and performed them as apprentice Geisha (Maiko). Lots of subtle humor in the "Secret Maiko Lips" video You'll find out that your favorite Band-Maid song is the one you just listened to. They have a huge catalog and they are incredibly entertaining.

About the maid outfits, Matt, or "the gimmick" as some have called it. Miku, and later the whole band, wanted to show that cute "Kawaii" girls (dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling without even breaking a sweat) could rock as hard as any guy band (sweating all over their so called, hip street / grunge clothes and making it look like what they're doing -- their "art" -- is so painful and hard)... and by showing that contrast (they call it the "Gap"), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! The Gap is all about women empowerment. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working all too well. Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. They are considered by many as the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

Fun fact, the lead singer, Saiki refused to wear the maid outfit, which is why she's the only one in all black (edit: MISA, the bassist, is also in black, but I don’t know if there’s a reason for that). @@adamlopez2275 It's almost the same reason why Saiki does not like the Maid costume. I guess a unique black maid costume (I believe MISA mentions that Chinese maids wear those type of costumes) does really suit her more than the costume you find her wearing in the MV of "Thrill".
Mattables, if you really want to see Saiki's talent, react to "Puzzle" the official acoustic video. The back story on the song is the singer is in love with a man (maybe from an affair), and seeing him with his significant other and realizes she will not be part of his life. The frustration , anger, and eventually grief that Saiki's evokes in the song is heartbreaking. It could make you cry from listening to it. Also, Kanami, on acoustic guitar, provides beautiful background vocals to the song.
The genius of Band-Maid lies in making you think you're familiar with the riff (and you might have heard something vaguely similar some time back) and, as you said, you feel "at home" with it, you feel that the melody is "right" and you have an affinity for it. Very few bands have ever done this consistently in their music, like the Beatles and Pink Floyd managed to do. Mostly it's one-off songs and sections of albums that hit you like this, but these girls seem to hit the mark every time.
Well, since you seem to like the lyric line 'Become my prisoner', there can really only be one recommendation for your next video from these ladies. 'Don't Let Me Down' 😎... Small hint, the lyrics are completely in English, but maybe hard to understand. You should either open them alongside (as they are not included in the video) or definitely have a look at them afterward. 🤭 If I would ever let myself be willingly imprisoned by anyone, then by these ladies, or more precisely the vocalist Saiki. Well, looks like it's maid outfit time for you! Here's the thing - they look at their maid outfits as their "battle armor" - and when you react, avec maid outfit, to "Don't you tell ME!" (MV is great, live from Zepp Tokyo even better but you'll have to go underground for that one), you too may feel super powers coming on. You'll want to do everything in the maid outfit from then on, and you may even feel the urge to knock over tables and shit just for fun.😉
Not sure why so many reactors end up at choose me so early- i dont think its even in their top 50 tracks imo- tho ofcourse its good- ALL their songs are :) And its certainly one of the better early tracks. But they have like 30-40 songs MUCH better.
The LIVE version is even better. Check it out sometime. At first they did feel a little self conscious, except for Miku. She was used to it from the Cafe'. But later on they felt like it was their armor for going into battle. They have a new instrumental you could do celled, 'From Now On'.

Comment for outfit, its already there but I have to support this anyway. Everyone suggests Domination Official Live for a reason you can't go wrong there, or with anything this band of maids does. Personal favorites for me are Blooming, and if you liked Choose Me I think you'll like Blooming even more and Influencer one of their newer tracks and videos is great. Pick anything though it's all good stuff.

About the maid outfits, Matt, or "the gimmick" as some have called it. Miku, and later the whole band, wanted to show that cute "Kawaii" girls (dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling without even breaking a sweat) could rock as hard as any guy band (sweating all over their so called, hip street / grunge clothes and making it look like what they're doing -- their "art" -- is so painful and hard)... and by showing that contrast (they call it the "Gap"), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! The Gap is all about women empowerment.
Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working all too well. Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. They are considered by many as the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!
lol can't wait to see the next one in the maid outfit. Fun fact, the lead singer, Saiki refused to wear the maid outfit, which is why she's the only one in all black (edit: MISA, the bassist, is also in black, but I don’t know if there’s a reason for that). I forget why exactly she refused though. Choose me is also my favourite Band-Maid song!

@@adamlopez2275 It's almost the same reason why Saiki does not like the Maid costume. I guess a unique black maid costume (I believe MISA mentions that Chinese maids wear those type of costumes) does really suit her more than the costume you find her wearing in the MV of "Thrill".

Mattables, if you really want to see Saiki's talent, react to "Puzzle" the official acoustic video. The back story on the song is the singer is in love with a man (maybe from an affair), and seeing him with his significant other and realizes she will not be part of his life. The frustration , anger, and eventually grief that Saiki's evokes in the song is heartbreaking. It could make you cry from listening to it. Also, Kanami, on acoustic guitar, provides beautiful background vocals to the song.
The genius of Band-Maid lies in making you think you're familiar with the riff (and you might have heard something vaguely similar some time back) and, as you said, you feel "at home" with it, you feel that the melody is "right" and you have an affinity for it. Very few bands have ever done this consistently in their music, like the Beatles and Pink Floyd managed to do. Mostly it's one-off songs and sections of albums that hit you like this, but these girls seem to hit the mark every time.
Well, since you seem to like the lyric line 'Become my prisoner', there can really only be one recommendation for your next video from these ladies. 'Don't Let Me Down' 😎... Small hint, the lyrics are completely in English, but maybe hard to understand. You should either open them alongside (as they are not included in the video) or definitely have a look at them afterward. 🤭 If I would ever let myself be willingly imprisoned by anyone, then by these ladies, or more precisely the vocalist Saiki. They don't make it difficult to choose them. :)

Well, looks like it's maid outfit time for you! Here's the thing - they look at their maid outfits as their "battle armor" - and when you react, avec maid outfit, to "Don't you tell ME!" (MV is great, live from Zepp Tokyo even better but you'll have to go underground for that one), you too may feel super powers coming on. You'll want to do everything in the maid outfit from then on, and you may even feel the urge to knock over tables and shit just for fun.😉
Not sure why so many reactors end up at choose me so early- i dont think its even in their top 50 tracks imo- tho ofcourse its good- ALL their songs are :) And its certainly one of the better early tracks. But they have like 30-40 songs MUCH better.
The LIVE version is even better. Check it out sometime. At first they did feel a little self conscious, except for Miku. She was used to it from the Cafe'. But later on they felt like it was their armor for going into battle. They have a new instrumental you could do celled, 'From Now On'.

Comment for outfit, its already there but I have to support this anyway. Everyone suggests Domination Official Live for a reason you can't go wrong there, or with anything this band of maids does. Personal favorites for me are Blooming, and if you liked Choose Me I think you'll like Blooming even more and Influencer one of their newer tracks and videos is great. Pick anything though it's all good stuff.
I recommend "Play" live.
