What is the brand of the belt? Can't make out very well. I have been asked to use one for water jogging as I have osteoarthritis. Thanks.

@@kashmirajain4123 Ryalls Aqua Belts. They are an excellent Australian made belt and I have my own.

Thank you! What is the name of the device that goes under your arms?

Hi there, do you mean the pool noodle? Sorry I'm not clear what you are referring to :)

Oh, is that what you said, use a noodle under the arms? I heard "something" or dumbbells for under the arm (for pregnant women). I've been looking for a buoyancy belt and am not sure if I'll get enough buoyancy from one to lift me out of the water high enough to jog in place (vertically, not at an angle) in the water in the deep end of my pool which is not as deep as most pools (I can touch the floor on my tippy toes with my head above water). However, I can jog in place sitting on a noodle in the deep end of the pool so I thought a belt should work, and perhaps be more comfortable? I found this brand that looks similar to yours:
WaterGym Water Aerobics Float Belt. It has nothing but good reviews on Amazon but my situation is a little unique with regards to the depth of my pool at the deep end. Would a buoyancy belt give you approx. the same buoyancy as a noodle (one single noodle is all that I have been using.) Any recommendations would be really appreciated! I loved your video, thank you so much!

Thank you for your question. Regarding the noodle or dumbbells under the arms, this is an alternative for pregnant women in regards to the question that I am often asked about belts being used with this population group. But, in these cases, it is not the same, as you cannot get the same running action or other movements as the motion in the upper body is restricted because of the lack of mobility from the shoulder. They are not the same exercises.
If you are sitting on the noodle, this again is not the same exercise as a belt around the waist. Jogging in a sitting position is very different from jogging in an upright position. Different muscles, different cardio effects and also you use your arms in very different ways and thus in my opinion (which may differ from other people), these are not the same exercise. It would be like comparing sitting in a chair doing a running action with the legs, and then standing up and actually running across the room - uniquely different so not a comparison.
Most buoyancy belts do the job, keep you buoyant. The only issue is when men who have considerable muscle mass, they have a tendency to sink and thus require specific buoyancy belts. Most women do not have this issue. How hard you work, will determine how high you drive up out of the water and this takes a bit of effort to do it.
There are lots of exercises that you can do in a pool the depth that you say you have, but perhaps with the fully upright positions, this may not be possible without touching the bottom - it comes down to depth of the pool and your own personal height.

HI Vanita, Thank you for your question. Jumping exercises are safe in the water as the water supports most of your body weight. In fact, some form of impact is important to maintain bone mass, so avoiding all forms of impact would not be recommended, but ultimately you will need to check with your health care provider if this is the case for you. Buoyancy belts are a useful tool to keep the body fully suspended in deep water, whilst having the freedom to also use the arms to increase intensity and range of motion. You can certainly perform the exercises without a buoyancy belt, though the technique will change slightly as you will need to use your arms in a different way to help keep the body afloat.
