I know right? These series are a perfect balance that showing character growth and despite non combat lore makes you actually worry about MC without having annoying characters who are annoying for the sake of it. Every character has their reasons and series deal with their problems perfectly. With kindness where it has to be shown like the kid from orphanage or punishment where it has to take place like arrogant noble with ego and shamelessness higher than my hopes for dmc 6 lol.

The anime doesnt explicitly state this, but as Ferdinand is peering into her memories, he mistakenly thinks Myne is of noble descent. As WE all know, those luxuries are just the norm to us now.
So here’s a spoiler that’s not that important but does move the plot along. America is finishing up part 5 and Canada is mid way through part 6. Japan has just started part 8 which is also considered series 2 because the end of part 7 is the end of series one.
In part 6 volume 1 Ferdinand uses that memories device with Rosemyne( Myne) to get interesting information to help defend the capital and the city’s allies. Basically modern medicine and gun technologies. Rose Myne never uses a lethal gun but helps create it.
The second series is not called the Ascendance of a Bookworm but is the continuation of the story. The second series is called how a Bookworm ran and advanced a fantasy country. Well that’s the English translation.

I'd have to say, you are one of the best recap channels I've seen because you actively try to keep a semblance of what the writers wanted the audience to feel while also making sure you don't linger too long on a specific part.

He never elaborates on who a character is. When a new character appears, he doesn't explain who they are; he just says their name and expects us to automatically know who they are without any context.

This Anime is *So Underrated* . Season 1,2&3 are literally prologue of the story which will kick in season 4( if they make one)
Yeah, from what I heard the beginning and the end were the first parts of the story written. I'm not sure how many parts it's gonna end up having overall though. I suspect Myne is gonna keep getting promotions until she dies, and then keep getting more.
Apparently they had a lot of trouble to get even the funding for season 3, having to settle for 10 episodes instead of the standard 12. Unfortunately as things are now an animated continuation doesn’t seem very likely

The ascendance of a bookworm books are so good, I highly recommend that you read them if you are feeling like reading. This anime is based off the light novels, the Manga came after the show, so this is some good reads if you want!

This is exactly why I watch this anime. Myne has proven to be one of the most endearing, lovable characters in anime and storytelling in general. Even by today's standards she is highly resourceful so we can imagine how useful she is to that world in addition to her mana stores. Having knowledge of minor things that we are taught in arts and crafts to create handiwork. She also has this type of knowledge where she knows the gist of the process, but not the *actual* process. So I love how she uses the craftsmen and talents of that age to find a close approximation of what she is familiar with. She's not all-knowing, but knows what end result she wants.. something in itself that would be unthinkable by anyone in that world. I also love how she progressed through stages of the printing process and ends up with a fairly recent, historically speaking, method of creating books. Once that part of her story has achieved they turn it into a full-blown fantasy anime and she is just as blown away by it as we are. She says what we all are thinking.. and even aloud to those around her's surprise.
I watched season 1 a few days back.. and because of how captivating Myne is, along with the supporting characters, I found myself unable to avoid sitting through season 2 yesterday. I wanted to badly to just watch one episode at a time, but the feel-good moments are so abundant that I cannot bring myself to end a viewing session with just one episode in order to stretch it out.
Again this anime is a treat. It shows that not every family needs to have this sense of envy and jealousy for the success or attention given to specific characters. It basically shows what CAN be done if you deal with the more reasonable parts of society and involve yourself with people who wish for success, yet also know that their success is dependent on your success. It all started with Otto. Far too many anime or stories would make him for some ungodly reason turn into some hostile, greedy person seeing the skills of Myne. Even despite having had years of friendship with her father Gunther. Otto would simply be much too easy to turn into a plotpoint rather than a supportive, even doting father figure... because.. well... we know how much they hate good father figures in the west right now in entertainment. So for Myne to have MULTIPLE of them including her actual, immensely hearted father Gunther? Gunther, Otto, Benno, Mark and Ferdinand, all of which have a great caring behavior towards their adorable, blue haired girl. Her brilliance is just destined for greatness.
Truly a show that made my December all the more great. Myne will be remembered as a fantastic, admirable character.
It's weird that she's so ready to just give up her family and accept a new father.. otherwise this is a great story
She actually doesn't want to give up her family but in the end she has no choice. The anime cut out quite a bit of the story.

@@ZeranZeran its a really good story. Unfortunately the English translation of the manga is still far behind the anime but it does include what has been cut out of the anime. You would have better luck with the light novels. There is so much detail in the light novels that didn't make it to the anime. So I highly recommend both.
HOLD IT! Not FERDINAND'S concubine! Your mixing the anime with the light novels! Delia wants to be the high priests (LN high bishop aka evil santa) concubine, not the head priest's (LN high priest aka Ferdinand)
It's not only wholesome and adorable, it's also incredibly dense for an anime. There's just so much story in only two seasons.. most anime can't even finish one arc in one season and this series feels like every episode is pushing the story forward. It's just great writing.
This anime seems absolutely incredible! See, this is what Anime should be! Unique, imaginative, with excellent writing & character development. Not the tropey bs we get 90% of the time. This is the sort of anime I stick to, aka the good stuff. I absolutely plan on watching this, it seems great!

one of the reasons I hold this show in high regard is the way the magick system has been slowly introduced
there are animes where you show biiiig elastrius spells and blown-out visuals... and it seems nothing within the context of the show....
but here.... the fact that we waited for 2 seasons for proper magick to be shown, it feels.... it feels big....
that lion is basically a summoned golem... but when I saw it I was feeling wonderes...
I just noticed on this one that as people are brought under Myne's wing, their hair gets shiny too! Guess shampoo is a perk!

Part 2: Let's invent printing so we can make books faster
Part 3: I'm adjusting to my new life as a noble, but at least I have access to reading material
Part 4: I'm attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry so I can read in its library
Season 3 of the anime is just at the end of Part 2. If you skip from Part 1 straight to Part 4, you may wonder how the hell is she able to use magic at Hogwarts now, but like the Never-ending story, you can't skip the parts you don't like because they're important later. The World-building is some of the best I've seen and it's a satisfying read.

A very nice anime. Interestingly, many things have quite a German flavour to it. The houses and the names (Ferdinand, Lutz, Gunther, Otto, Benno) for example.
I've never seen the anime, just read the novels, and it's wild to me how different some characters color schemes are. I imagined Lutz as with beige/ashen per example

It's been forever but I still can't stand how dumb that green haired knight was, and the other knight as well.
Did it not occur to him that by obeying greenboi who outranked him, he'd be disobeying Ferdinand, who outranked both of them?
He gets called out for that, but I suspect it's social pressure. Given what Schicoza's mother went on to do, he may have feared her revenge, too.
Good content, there are some minor mistakes like dehlia wanting to be Ferdinand's concubine when it's the high priests. But still good, keep up the good work

Thats a prime target for taking advantage of. She innocently wants something expensive? Just say no and watch her invent various new things, tag alongs and by-products that are revolutionary and much more cost effective, just buy off the rights. Something else? Just say no again. She needs money to keep herself alive? She will get it, benefitting all around. All sorts will want to adopt, enslave or secure her in a marriage (and then just keep telling her no, we can't and things she lacks). Nobles and Church could put a claim on all future benefits just claiming it is so. At this point she better become independant and maybe keep some people around as her protectors

Each season does 3 Light Novels at most. The next season would start on book 9. Book 14 was just released in America while book 47 was just released in Japan.
The author said he will write at least another 20 book. He plans to write until the character Myne is at least 18 years old in the series. She is currently 15 in Japan later books.
Season 4 is very unlikely bc it followed story of Myne (whose story ended) and we now follow Rozemyne.
The light novel ( the main storyline only, not counting fanbooks and short stories) will have 33 books when the 12th Volume of Part 5 comes out (alias the last book) then there's the spinoff which will probably get Ln adaptation too.
Also, where did you get the thing that the author will write at least until Myne's 18? I don't think I heard about it. (Also, the author is a woman)
