Sorry Dave I may be too late. I know your experiencing high winds and won't have time to read this message. But I'd like to tell you what Dr. Motes does at times like this. He, like us doesn't have green houses. Even during Hurricane Andrew, he puts all his plants on the ground. The wind is the slowest at ground level. Good Luck!
I can't wait until my Dendrobium blooms. I grew it from a little stump, a freebie the grower threw in with my order. A stump! Of course she is a NOID. I have idea what the blooms look like! She is just 2 years old and I think the cane that is growing now, is the ONE! DAVE! YOU DIDN'T SHOW ANY PHAH'S! You call them the Home Depot orchid. 😂😂😂 I love my Phals! I have one, Luna Rosa, in the sink soaking up some nutrients right now! Enjoy your daughter! Love and light!
Thank you for sharing your orchid journey with us! It’s inspiring to see your dedication, and I’m sure your Dendrobium will surprise you with some amazing blooms!
I love Palmer's! Wish I could see the nursery in person Absolutely gorgeous orchids. Especially love the hard cane Dendrobium with the mini antelope blooms. What does the chocolate drop cross Cattleya smell like? I've heard the chocolate drop is kinda bad smelling but I love the way looking blooms.
HI Dave. Love your videos, they are entertaining and informative. You give great tips in a very easy way to understand. So thank you. Love your haul from Palmer. Last but not least, you're a funny guy 😂. God bess.
I went to my local orchid society show on the weekend and found a few unicorns and 1/4 unicorns. My unicorns were Catesetum Pileabrosum Green “Green bat” & Cmds Dragons Glade. Also found this gorgeous Phal Ox Royal yellow.
Your dendrobiums look amazing Dave! I love Palmer Orchids online shopping. I recently purchased two miniature Gram. scriptum orchids. They were in bloom when I received them. I have a large Grammatophyllum outside which is not doing very well. That is why I ordered the smaller version from Palmer Orchids and they are doing great. Happy first day of Autumn!
Worried about you and your chids. I’m from Galveston so I know what you’re going through. Wishing you the best of luck with this awful hurricane. Would love to know how you prepared. Please let us know you’re ok as soon as you can. 🤞 ❤ Bon courage
Dave, Need your help. Live near Disney. Have a standard Screen pool structure. My Vandas do great under the screen. I am concerned about putting Phalaenopsis and Cattaleyas under screening. Any suggestions on how I can turn my pool area into a shade house?
Any suggestions for an orchid that would thrive on a west facing window sill? I live in Miami, temperature inside is 76-78. I only have phals that don’t like the afternoon sun.
@@DavesOrchidOasis oh thanks for the tip! I’ve never considered the central a/c tbh. That probably explains why the air roots of my phals are always dry and brown-ish :(. I will shut off the vent in my room at least overnight because people in my house have it running very cold and it never shuts down during night time. I wish I could grow them outside but my son prefers only lawn and no plants 😟
congrats. If Nelson hadn't just gotten himself one this month it would have been more special. Kelly showed loads of these too. I can't share the excitement but I hear the smell is the best thing about the dendrochillum. Palmer sells the best fertilizer from what I have seen. If you read the recommended dose on their instructions and know how much that works out as in parts per million you will probably scratch your head but they know what they are doing. If you do do the math, you might be surprised but it backs up what you have been saying. Others fertilize far too weak.
I really appreciate your insights! It's great to hear different perspectives on dendrochillum and Palmer's fertilizer. Your comments help foster a wonderful community of plant lovers!
Hi David. Hope that hurricane Milton didnt hurt your family and your orchids too badly. 🙏
GREAT haul👍. I have a Dendrochilum magnum and, I agree with you, it’s a “unicorn”😉😍
I love it!

Thanks for sharing Dr. Motes' strategy! It’s always helpful to learn from others’ experiences during tough weather. I’ll keep that in mind!

Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate it, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with beautiful scents too!
@DavesOrchidOasis hi!!! How are you?? I'm at Naples and the wind was horrible 😫 I hope you're doing good!!!

My grammys outside were sad too. You HAVE to make sure they are exposed to NO cold in the winter. It sets them back a year or more.
@@DavesOrchidOasis Thanks Dave, yes, as soon as the night temperature goes close to 55 degrees in the house it goes.
Your dendorbiums are looking so beautiful and healthy .Question how many times a week do you water your dendrobiums
2 or 3 in the summer
Bringing my orchids in tonight for the expected hurricane Orlando fl here, wish you and us the best.
My stupid vanda rack blew over :(
Oh no !@@DavesOrchidOasis

I have family a little south of Fort Myers and I’m more worried about your orchids 😂
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to know we have support during this storm. I’ll share our preparation tips soon!
Hi Dave😌🙌🇯🇵That yellow Vanda just opens up my eyes it's so beautiful🥰And the Crownfox is just incredible color🤯💞
Are you in Okinawa?
@@DavesOrchidOasisI'm in Saitama
I love Palmer Orchids.
Yes!

phals will die. Cattelayas should be fine. The screen should be enough. If they burn you may have to buy shade cloth on Amazon,
any recommendations for online orchids i can buy? i’m from northern california.ty
It's tough. I haven't had a ton of luck compared to going to the nursery itself.
Do you think I can leave the vanda and mounted dendrobiums ouside all year in so cal?
As long as it stays above 45
Any suggestions for an orchid that would thrive on a west facing window sill? I live in Miami, temperature inside is 76-78. I only have phals that don’t like the afternoon sun.
That's tough because most of them hate air conditioned air. I haven't had any luck growing inside besides phals.
