    “Guns...they bring people together.” Listen, freedom loving Americans that own guns want all people including the black population in this country to exercise their rights as citizens of this great nation. Statistically proven that people with carry permits cause less crime than COPS! Let that sink in.

    Killer Mike spittin knowledge. Straight up. He's right, we need to encourage minorities to exercise their rights as well. Guns are and should not be a blue or red political stance. If you're a democrat, republican or liberal it doesn't matter. You should be in favor of procting yourselves.

    Mike I appreciate your candor! Direct to the approach. I grew up hunting and had my first gun at age 10. My father taught us how to load, carry and gun safety, if this was not followed. We would not have access to our guns. Responsiblity! I'm with you, those I know that own guns, as I am, are home owners, fathers, tax payers that obey the law.

      NRA is one of the most influential lobbies in DC. They affect elections, legislation and serve the interests of their membership with the power of the almighty dollar. I believe if you want to have any sway over the political and socioeconomic systems that affect the black community, we have to get into the positions where we can be influential.

    The NRA doesn't discriminate against any money.We as black people don't need the NRA for us to be gun savvy.Im not a member and I have a safe full of Ars and Aks and are well trained.The money that the NRA collects from it's members is squandered buying millions of dollars of personal items for the hierarchy.

    The NRA's membership is only 5 million people, each with the right to vote for their board of directors. If 1 million black folks joined the NRA in a week and voted as a block, we could completely change their board of directors, kick off any perceived racists, and shift their messaging to something more inclusive to us and other minorities.

    • @mcjon77
      @mcjon77 6 лет назад

      What I have seen over the past year+ has been a shift away from just advocating for gun rights, toward advocating for conservatism in general and against liberals (not just anti-gunners) in particular. Everything becomes a plot by socialists/communists. The thing the NRA refuses to acknowledge is that there are tons of liberal/progressive gun owners. That would be my push. Folks feel afraid of Neo-Nazis and KKK types walking around their area with AR-15s, then the NRA can teach those local progressives to arm and defend themselves (just like they did with Robert Williams in Mississippi during the civil rights era).

    Poor white here. Everyone has a right to defend themselves and I don't want to see anyone victimized. I'd still support gun rights even if I was the only white guy in the movement, because I want the right to defend myself. I'm actually happy to see all kinds of people learn to safely use weapons so that they can be responsible for their own safety. You can't rely on someone being there to rescue you when your life is endangered. I'm not on board with the progressive left's agenda, so maybe Mike would consider me an "ally" more than a "friend", but that's fine. I don't care if you believe in all kinds of ideas I disagree with so long as you won't harm others and will respect their rights. Then we can indeed be allies in liberty and support one another since we may have different lifestyles but we accept that diversity rather than forcing one way of life. I'm OK with communists in my community so long as they're not trying to force me to be a communist. Do your own thing, join a commune, have guns to make sure no one can enslave, rape, or murder you. I'm fine with that. I'm just not OK with authoritarianism.
    Good on Killer Mike for promoting this kind of personal resiliency here. If the public are armed, they have the means to refuse tyranny. If they're not armed, those in power can treat the public as slaves, and they can do nothing about it but beg their masters for leniency. All of Hong Kong is demanding that they simply maintain the civil rights they have. And they're ignored by their authoritarian rulers. Hong Kongers do not have the means to rebel. Black Americans and all other Americans should maintain the means to rebel, so that if it's ever justified we can do so. The alternative is accepting that we may be ordered into slavery or mass murder.

    Killer Mike said he and his father are long-time members of the NRA, yet now he's trying to distance himself from the organization as if he was just talking to the other side and he didn't know better. Man, he even predicted this in his interview with Colion saying "celebrities often don't know what to do; they're told what to do" and followed that up with an example of with a rapper he knew being pressured at a radio station to record an anti-gun message which he did not believe in. Killer Mike in his apology repeatedly emphasized that he is now trying to be a "good ally," when in his NRA interview he said that white anti-gun activists needed to prove to black gun owners like him that they were good allies and completely agreed with Colion when the latter pointed out how $3 million should have gone to failing public schools rather than a march. Yet because Killer Mike prioritizes his inclusion in elite circles over his political convictions, he pretended as if he had no idea the NRA would use the video against the march. I've always loved Mike's music even though I wildly disagree with his political beliefs but the one thing I can not tolerate is him tailoring his views for mainstream liberal audiences because that's so unlike him.

    • @Sidewinder528
      @Sidewinder528 6 лет назад +2

      Paul Chapman ....Don't be Stupid, You already know that the Black Panthers were Considered a Radical Militant Group by the "Establishment". White People were terrified of them....so the Milford Act went into effect and was also endorsed by the NRA. But the Irony of the whole thing is that this Law affected EVERYBODY.....Black, White, Yellow, Brown etc. If this Law had only Applied to Minorities then you would have a valid argument.

    • @paulchapman3948
      @paulchapman3948 6 лет назад +2

      There's no need to insult people who are trying to engage in conversation.
      I think it's ridiculous to assume that anyone would believe that any seriously considered act would be explicitly against one race in this particular period of history. Many acts have been written and implemented that apply to every person--yet, many would argue that they have an adverse effect on a particular group.

    • @WaxDat8800

    And the reality is that a Black man (or woman) with a gun is going to be perceived as even more of a threat to the police (or anyone else) and is more, not less, likely to be killed. So you can say you are protecting your family but when that Black family calls the police to report the burglar, that Black male is more likely to be shot and killed by the police than had they not had a gun. Does that mean that they should not have a gun? No. But my point still stands.

    • @therockbiter8140
      @therockbiter8140 6 лет назад +2

      That's partly a lie. More black men are shot by police true, but given the numbers of police contacts is so much higher naturally there will be more. If you turn the totals into percentages black men are LESS likely to be shot by police. That's like saying more black men are rejected from the NBA than white men and claiming bias....no there's just way more of them trying out.

    • @biasedperspective4276
      @biasedperspective4276 6 лет назад

      Lucas, there are way more White people who come into contact with the police. Blacks actually interact with the police in percents proportional to their percentage in society (~13%) www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/pbtss11.pdf

      A few things:
      1) People are killing unarmed black people already. While Philando Castro was an absolute injustice, I've been pulled over while armed with no issues. We followed the same steps. I just lucked out by not running into shitty, fearful cops.
      2) If a black man has a home defense weapon, they won't be dependent on calling the police for a burglary. Yes, they will have to report it, but that's after they've handled their business.
      3) If you have no methods of defense in your home and someone breaks in, the police are the last thing you need to worry about.

    Definitely an area where I'm 100 percent with Killer Mike. Most other areas as well. Just dissed him on a video where he talked about Trump... felt bad so I had to come here and give some positives. I would really like to hear Mike and El-P both expound deeply on their feelings about the Trump presidency. Positive or negative... I really don't like the fact that everything I hear coming from their camp is pretty much just regurgitation of "Trump's a racist", which is such buzzy bullshit, I can't believe it's coming from the same person in this video right here. Mike and El-P are usually not the type to regurgitate the status-quo... but given that black militancy is such a personal topic for Mike, and even El-P, though he's white, I can see some possible and forgivable discrepancies. But if there is something wrong with Trump... it's not racism... and if he IS racist, we don't know about it, and it's not a public fact. It's literally a CNN meme.

    • @enriquesanchez9016

      Except that Trump IS a racist and that's a fact. His whole campaign was based on racism, he was extremely hateful toward Mexicans and Muslims. And you know it so why are you trying to deny it?

      I know it? I know what I know, you don’t know what I know and I don’t know what you know. Trump expressed “hatred” for illegal immigrants, but it wasn’t so much hatred as saying, hey, what they’re doing is illegal. As far as Muslims... maybe we shouldn’t make a priority to let as many Muslims into our country as possible.

      a while ago someone interviewing run the jewels implied that america was racist for voting donald turmp in and mike turned that around with "not everybody that voted for trump was racist, and they didnt vote for him for those reasons. They're not ultranationalists, there are scared people who dont have jobs, some people just want to support their families."
      Even if i dont agree with everything he says i appreciate that he thinks for himself and doesn't demonize those who disagree with him, something people both sides of the political spectrum could really learn from him.

    • @wildcatpeace
      @wildcatpeace 6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I saw where he said that, but the implication was that although not EVERY voter was racist, or voting for racist reasons, they were incidentally being duped into voting for a racist candidate. I still don't see any evidence that Trump is a racist president.
