Also just a note that Fennec is based on the latest firefox release with a few trackers and telemetry removed.
I'm so glad these "degoogled" phones are becoming more mainstream! I'm having trouble finding quality tutorial videos and I don't want to brick my Moto G7+
@@_Trakman Android Auto, being the biggest one. The second I would say is OpenStreetMaps. I travel a lot and it is not very user friendly and the search address function sucks hard. A few other minor inconveniences but overall I would recommend the degoogled experience.

I think de-googled things should be an option as you said but I think for most people google is far too convenient for them to de-google(which is kind of the problem ig).
imho the update from the settings menu only fails if you loaded volla os on the phone yourself (when coming from UT for example). there is info in the help section of the volla website that helped me solve this.

I use microg for lineage os on my OnePlus 2, I've tried the whole fully degoogled experience already and it's ok but google does have it's merits. Take maps for example, no one else comes close, RUclips as well, yeah you can use newpipe but you always have to export your subscriptions anytime you unsub or sub so a new channel. Use microg with tracker control and it's the best middle ground.

I'm running Volla Phone 22 with Ubuntu Touch and Waydroid. If Waydroid is running without any other app, it consumes 30% of battery in 11 hours. If I set Waydroid in sleep mode, it consumes as much as without Waydroid (about 10% in 24 hours). Of course, you have to know the howto of using it, and you have to be willing to use a Linux phone.

Just so it's clear, UBports doesn't develop or manage the Volla OS. They only work on the Ubuntu Touch OS and the installer. I just had the impression you implied UBports needs to fix the updates in Volla OS :)
Yap, I did not test Volla OS and CalyxOS yet, but already tested almost the rest of the other de-googled OS-s and the GrapheneOS was the best fit for this purpose (and even the installation is quite easy as need to run just one installation file after unlocking the bootloader). Anyone else having problems intalling alternative Android OS's thru USB 3? My laptop has only USB 3 ports and all brands of phones vanish when rebooting to prepare to load the OS.
My experience with lineage is phenomenal - very rarely the keyboard doesn’t pop up n I just minimize the app n bring it back it works, now it wants me to plug it into my computer to install updates...if you use signal the app will occasionally not work bc it forces you to update n well they don’t update it for us so if that’s no big thing - maps are your only real concern otherwise.

I took the phone back to the the store and he couldn't figure out what happened so he gave me a new sim card. The phone did what it could. It lasted about 3 days without google. I was able to delete play store, chrome, google. It was fun while it lasted.

People want to degoogle and then still use Google apps. How much privacy do those user really care or important. It is better than those Linux privacy phones which people spend much time to configure to make it just to be able to call and SMS/MMS because of the so called privacy. I feel it is not worth it. I dualboot kali nethunter and a custom rom i edited on my Work tablet. This is Google free. My Phone i hardly use except for messaging and emails so its very stripped. I prefer my own rom compared to these custom roms but its interesting to see.

SteamOS is based on Arch, and it's default way to play games is with proton. Honestly I've been using Manjaro and literally all my pc games (not Valorant tho) work fine. The only exceptions are Fortnite and Apex; they technically work but their anticheat isn't compatible. Granted Valve has already said they're working with devs to get games with anticheat working too

Aurora droid is a better looking f-droid client which has a integrated repo manager and aurora store can be used to install google play apps
