    The fiancé in the second story is awesome. He didn't lose his cool over the text and instead helped her draft a calm and considered response. Then when the idiot blew up and responded, he took the phone and handled everything so that she wouldn't have to think about it/deal with the stress on her wedding day.

    I love how the cheating husband is like “how can she be over 20 years so fast?” If she knew about your affair “for some time,” she already went through those emotions, alone, and has already started the process of moving on. I mean, she’s practically been dating someone else.

    Chronically Late story:
    Okay maybe it's just me but the friends in that scenario are ALL garbage. All it took was being late ONCE in two years and they were SO quick to write her off???? Also- those friends were all sitting around for over an hour, there is NO WAY her tardiness did not come up, so why did the friend who was supposed to update her not say anything? I'm imagining them all sitting around going "man why isn't she here, she knows this starts at 10", which should have been followed by the friend who was supposed to give the updated info saying "oh my gosh! I never told her, let me call her real quick" - OR SOMETHING, LIKE HOW DID THIS NOT COME UP.

      Yea it doesn't make sense I think most likely thing is OP is being deceptive... like apparently they didn't eat for the entire 1 hour and 15 minutes they were waiting for her? Out of, what? Compassion? Why would they do that choreographed move to leave then? And why would they make an elaborate plan to update OP about the time when they could also just post in group chat either way? Itd be a reminder as much as a heads up. I think this story treats the friends as NPCs and personally think its more likely there's stuff OP didn't say or just made it up. Either way I think there is enough sketchy things about the story that talking about it should always have a preface like, "IF the OP is telling the truth, then ..."

      every single time you plan on going out with friends, you'd have to spam them every day, to make sure the times stay the same, the length of time it'd take for them to answer be nauseating, and the extreme anxiety while on the way to the meetup point.

      Haven't seen it yet but I commented in another video how the "friend zone" is a myth. It's a concept conjured up by people(mostly men) who don't have the guts to shoot their shot and instead try to show the woman how "nice" he is. When this somehow works they will complain "it's like having a girlfriend without the benefits" to which I respond, "you mean having a friend? Which is what she is treating you like because that's how she views you?"
      At the end of the day the people that pull this crap are outright predatory. They are using the premise of friendship to get into a person's pants rather than genuinely offer friendship without any quid pro quo. But then these are the same people who will disparage their object of "affection" when those feelings are not returned or perceived to not be how they want.
      It's an incredibly toxic trait and I will likely edit as a response to this after having seen it. Still on the first story and WOW...

      You definitely see some generational bleed in that one. Judging by how op described his reaction it certainly didn't seem like he knew he was gaslighting and traumatizing. I do believe he did actually care about her and had insecurities that he didn't know how to deal with other than emulating his dad. He grew up with a dad who actively taught him that emotionally and verbally abusing your partner is a good thing and saw women as an object to own. Having that as his normal growing up it's no wonder his father's insecurities and abusive habits bled into him even though he didn't fully understand what he was doing.
      Obviously this isn't an excuse, the boyfriend is responsible for his actions and breaking up was the right thing to do. However I don't think he was evil and malicious like your ex was , I think there is hope for him in future relationships if he seeks therapy and unpacks what his dad taught him.

    As a polyamorous person-NO. These misconceptions are so problematic. Open relationships do not work if a couple is on the rocks; it requires a super stable relationship with open communication. It’s not a band-aid to slap down and call it a day. And if no conversation has happened between all parties, it’s not an open relationship-it’s cheating.

    • @grankmisguided
      @grankmisguided Год назад +329

      Hundred percent, but I think it was only mentioned as a way to try to broach the subject of them both having cheated, not as a way to be that is at all healthy or okay. Ethical non-monogamy is not a fix for extramonogamous affairs; the trust has already been violated, you definitely can't now shift to a relationship style that requires *more* trust and communication! It's the other way around: consider bringing up non-monogamy when you first feel that way, so that you *don't* end up violating your partners' trust when you get over your head later 😑

    • @zizou00_
      @zizou00_ Год назад +104

      Yeah, a relationship is an agreement between all parties about what's going on in it. It requires open communication, and it requires every person involved being explicitly aware of all aspects of that relationship. Monogamy is an agreement between two people. Bringing anyone else in without both being aware and consenting before that new person is even approached is cheating. Being in a monogamous relationship, then cheating, then trying to manufacture some poly scenario isn't a healthy way to approach it, even if both parties are cheating. Dude was so scummy being comfortable in his 6 year affair (which he managed to paint himself as the victim of in his explanation, yikes, bringing up his daughters when his decision to cheat (and continue to cheat) was his own choice), but the second his wife does it he acts all emotionally damaged and carpet-barfy. Dude's a selfish monster.
      Chanse was trying to be open minded, but missed the mark on that one. It happens. The guy was clearly okay with cheating on his wife for a protracted period of time. He was not looking for a poly relationship, he was looking to cheat on his wife. Doesn't matter how much he says he loves her. He doesn't respect her enough to be honest about cheating on her. That's not someone who would communicate well enough to maintain an open relationship. It's someone who is only thinking about their own gratification.

      yeah, I didn't like that he introduced the idea of polyamory in that story, because that's not it... cheating can't be turned around like "oh lets just fix it by agreeing to sleep with other people"?? the disrespect, the lying, the broken trust, the dehumanization of his partners, where he literally gave them percentages of satisfaction. ew. no. cheating is cheating. he just wanted to still have a formidable partner he is settled with and has a life with while getting a bit of action behind their back, no harm as long as they never find out.. and the way he got so upset by HER cheating, jesus...

Anyway, the big takeaway I got after literally months of offering olive branches just to make amends and let bygones be bygones was that you don't have to be friends with everyone and sometimes the best thing to do for yourself is to cut people out even if they have been around for a long time. Not sure if you had to do that or are considering it, but for me at least she just kept proving to me that I made the right decision to stop trying to be friends.

      Plus, can't forget the one two punch of executive dysfunction and time blindness! I use alarms and schedules for even the most menial tasks or things go off the rails. Everything has steps, and those have to go in order, and while helpful, it's hella exhausting.

    I 100 percent predicted the ADHD diagnosis. When they set they set tons of reminder etc and sometimes that still doesn't work I knew it must be ADHD or neurodivergence. I'm autistic and struggle with the working memory part of executive function and have forgot important things like driving lessons, support work appointments, bringing gifts I got to birthdays etc despite usually setting many reminders. It's not purposeful or careless.

    • @MissCaraMint
      @MissCaraMint Год назад +25

      No It’s, not carelessness. It’s humiliating to not be able to function properly and just be on time. Sure you build up a workable coping stray, but every once in a while there comes a time when it fails for whatever reason. That’s where communication with the people in your life becomes incredibly important. I’ve been so lucky to find a group of friends who are extremely supportive, and that makes all the difference in the world.

      Seriously. I can't believe I operated my whole life not knowing I had ADHD and the amount of shame I've lived with is astounding. I truly thought I was a useless broken flaky ahole, when in reality I've been overwhelmed and exhausted and barely keeping it together.
