I may have broken my PC...For a new challenge, we're playing Rimworld with 200 colonists, each specializing in one area of passion (usually). I didn't give myself an extra doomsday rocket launcher for fun :)

How many colonists before the PC crashes?
ambiguousamphibian 432
ambiguousamphibian too many
Well its gotta be at least 2
Im thinking 641
Like 7 atleast
Aside from the 200 pawns... Fire, Vegetation, and Job Checks are the causes for your stuttering. Chop trees always, and try to minimize the number of colonists you have checked off beat out fires for, the game does a check every tick to see if there’s fire and with 200 colonists it can really slow it down. All in all, love the the videos!
Would setting the recreation time be one cause of the lag? Because of the searching for recreation things
Sean also having to open doors constantly
Me before watching the video: "Oh come on, fire can't be _that_ big of a problem. Sure, it's CPU-intensive, but it's not particularly _common."_
Thats an unfortunate way to do that, maybe a mod could make it so the fire checks for colonists within a range, rather than have colonists check for a fire in range
This guy is like the antithesis of Pete Complete,
Pete Complete: Carefully considered and calculated choices that let him survive in the most hostile biomes in the game and make it look easy.
Ambiguous Amphibian: Flying by the seat of his pants into the sunset, on a rocket he made out of windex and gumption, screaming the whole way.
and I think that's beautiful.
"on a rocket he made out of windex and gumption"
you...
this line.
I love you for this ONE fucking thing you said, and I fucking love how it makes me happy and laugh, XD!
I tried to watch one of Pete's playthrough. I had to speed it up.

So?....
that sounds like a rimworld art description
Megasloth: *minding his own damn business*
About 10 colonists, all equipped with submachine guns: P E R I S H
Animals vibing outside the colony:
200 half-naked men with guns: *Finally, a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary*
Me: "who orders a sweet ass Rimworld video at 3 AM?"
Also me: "Oh boy, 3 AM!"

you should have 2 people that just carry around the rocket launchers called Rocket1 and Rocket2. They wouldn’t do anything at all, just be idle all the time unless something scary happens
And we shall call them Team Rocket.

Lets hope they didn't blast off again
until they go berserk and blow half your colony away

You scum, crafter2 is the best fr
you can set the crafting of clothing to include worn apparel, meaning you can tell them to make a total of 201, including what people are wearing, and even make sure awful or low durability clothing isn't included in the count or in their wardrobe options, so they'll keep track of making new clothes and replacing their clothing automatically
i found the better way is to just keep a few in inventory. craft till 2. so u don't have to change that number every time u gain a colonist
As a heavy mod player, I can tell you that most of the lag from this game comes from Pawn pathing. You should try dubs performance analyzer to make sure it’s not some random block in the middle of no where causing rapid update and dropping ticks. You could also try runtimeGC to lower pawn relations. Because the game is single threaded, no matter how good your pc is you will always have this lab, and worry not about tour pc dying, because it will kill only 1 core at a time, and there are at least 4 backup cores that it could kill before you having to get a new pc.
Wait it can kill your pc?
@@theguy1240 not really, it's just a way of saying that your pc is hardly the bottleneck, since the game itself can't make full usage of it
Why are so many indie games only single threaded?
@@user-zc4sx9ig6p cause they're old
@@user-zc4sx9ig6p My guess is bc multithreading is a horrible beast of race conditions and misery, and a lot of small teams are already struggling to get the game patched together
with all the chaos stirring around us...the ambiguousamphibian brings me great joy...with torturing his little ants :)
"Hello friends, welcome back to our metaphorical gulag. In our last video we established food. And today we're going to equip everyone with a machine pistol and try to kill the megasloth inside of our walls"
Jesus those first three sentences were a rollercoaster for the uninitiated
Wait a minute, a bunch of cowboys living together that make violent love... is this Ram Ranch?
Rimworld ranch really rock's
Rim Ranch
I love that the infirmary is entirely dedicated to caring for those that have had the crap beaten out of then for getting our of line :D
Fun fact: the game is programmed to start raining if there’s a lot of fire on the map.
hard randy is the only way to get wiped out by forest fire. any other storyteller will bring rain before it gets big.
16:50 Changes pawn schedules en masse, next minute the entire game starts lagging. "Why am I getting random jitters suddenly?"
Longest 24 hrs man
Love this, hope your doing well in general.

Just a minor note on your paved walkways: Anywhere there is already stone can be smoothed. It costs you zero materials, and is prettier than paved floor, improving beauty stat. Takes very little time as well, as opposed to walking to the stockpile to gather materials.
33:10 you could just click and drag to apply settings in mass
Man! just watching you micromanaging all of this makes me tired.
Here is some mods that will help:
Dubs performance analiser: adds multiple tweaks that greatly help with lag in large colonies. and you will know what was that freeze
4M Menhis misc modifications: Multiple quality of life options.
Snap out: Less beatings, maybe not in your style....
Better workbench managment: So Sooooo good for huge colonies, among other things allows to link orders on multiple workstations to be changed as one.
Stack XXL: Wwith amount of shit you making this will greatly reduce clutter and lag as it reduces things to chose from.
Allow tool: How the hell you are playing without it!?
Ahtung: Ever wanted to make firing line with 200 guys? in one second!
Stabilise: for when you want bleding stopped HERE AND NOW!
High density Hydroponics: I don't belive you will survive that long...
Mend and recycle: Cause vanilla system is bullshit.
REPLACE STUFF: REPLACE WOOD WITH STONE, GOOD.
Everybody gets one: Produce dusters ontil all slave..em...colonists have one.
Oh and there is one we would all apriciate... steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2076610321&searchtext=oh+god
PS: You can copy and paste shedules and most othe tedious things.
no idea how i lived without DUBs analizer, mate! Thank you so much! Gotta say thats one "Preemptive strike" mod was causing massive lag despite i wasnt using building from it at all.
I really appreciate the tips. Thanks!
having snap out, xxl, high density, and mend would change it from vanilla a lot and wouldn't help with micro, I'm not sure why you suggested them
why do you rename all the mods with s's to z's
Analyzer
Stabilize
???
@@AlkalineGamingHD Much of the world spells words like that with an s instead of a z. The z spelling is mostly an American thing.
"You, Megasloth, have been found guilty of trespassing and have been sentenced to death by firing squad."
“Do not hunt the megasloths I fear them” yea that was apparent when you formed a firing squad to attack one and then slowly shot it to death
been waiting for new episodes even before i knew the series was out
"I wonder what's causing so much lag"
the 200 colonists all moving and completing tasks: "Good question."
Please man you can click and drag on almost all the menus to change everyone at once. you are driving me crazy by clicking 200 times.
And shift clicking on work priorities, hunting and taming menu, etc.
Legos didn't have macros.
Territorial pissings, i remember you asked me to play it in your discord general chat a while back cause i was playing other nirvana songs on my bass. I still haven't learned the song yet but i have learned a few other nirvana covers. Great video im liking this series!
Marvelous. All guys in cowboy hats with guns and feisty attitudes also no shirts. You just need some tigers and you would have an Exotic gulag.
Have you thought about using mods to make some of the micromanaging easier
Def check out the manager mod, you can set it to auto harvest trees so you always have an x amount of wood
(Will hiccup the game whenever someone checks for the management stuff, but you can set it to check like every 2 days for example
A really useful mod for construction is called "replace". Basically, you don't have to deconstruct walls or anything if you want to change the material its made out of. All you do is place the construction blueprint above it and builders will automatically start building above it. When the construction is done you will also get the materials from the old building as if it had been deconstructed. Very handy mod which doesn't require a new save.
This feels like watching the electronic and slightly more advanced version of my ant farm. I love watching swarm behaviour.
Thank you so much for these videos. They're SMASHING! :D
you should put packed up firepoppers in designated locations around the base. if there's a fire, have someone grab and place it, then immediately trigger it, basically a portable fire extinguisher.
on a similar note, it's be really cool to see a wall of weapon racks containing your rocket launchers and any other strong weapons, so you know right where they are, and to show off your collection
loving the series! its definitely smart to split the workload! if you split the workers by job instead of profession you can get work done at all hours of the day! for example: 5 planters sleep at night, and 5 sleep during the day, hope this helps!
This man just executed order 66 on every animal on the map.
That's some real chaotic evil energy
"Cowboy hats and dusters for everyone!" My god hes creating Texas
Everyone is a cowboy... Uh oh... You've built... RAM RANCH!!!
As usual, when man must have his PC speed up, nature must suffer.
There are so many great quotes from this video. I love it… made me laugh on a Monday morning. Thank you. Very entertaining.
Watching your pawns shooting that sloth made me remember how good combat extended is
I stayed up since the last upload to see #2 I love your Rimworld videos, I LOVE EM.
32:24 “Make love to him! Make *really violent* love to him!”
Saw this in my recommended, but didn't realize it was a new vid. Almost didn't click. Might want to differentiate thumbnails a bit more, as well as adding a number to the start of the title, for devices which truncate titles.
Glad I caught it though!
same, thankfully I see the upload date
Yeah I’m on the playlist and I was looking at the list like * huh did he post it twice
"it's so satisfying, its like microsoft excel and legos" - i felt that
That nirvana cover @21:21 tho
Oooooo another video, made by the cutest RUclipsr, who also happens to be my favorite! 😳😘
12:29 300 tough aesthetic colonists with burning passion for melee :D
i had to laugh when he builds a crazy room for people with break risks and fills it with machine pistols... xD 'having a hard time? this pistol will make all your problems go away!'
Tips:
-Double click sleeping spots/harvesting/beds/walls/etc to highlight all in view.
-Theres a copy option when doing schedules and work shifts to make setting the colonists jobs and schedules easier.
your upload schedule fits my sleep schedule so perfectly thank you
Well after watching you and others play this game I finally bought it
"It looks like a fucked up virson of the Disney store in here" fuck that broke me hahahaha
This man + this game = an endless goldmine cornucopia of mildly disturbing non-sequiturs
Er, Gulag Cornucopia
29:42
After spending a decade as a butcher myself, can confirm this condition
PRO TIPS: with assigning medicine you can click and drag downwards to assign to herbal. you can copy and past sleep/work schedule on the left of the excel chart looking thing. you can copy and past jobs on production things (e.g. stonecutter tables) click on copy on the job, then paste on top right of the menu. For faster production with jobs, set them to "drop on floor" instead of "take to best stockpile", it let the haulers haul it instead of the crafters.
26:09 “this is so satisfying, it’s like Microsoft excel and legos” 😂😂 I dropped what I was holding from laughter don’t know why 😂😂
I let out a big "what!?" when you said you didn't need electricity...
The one guy cloud watching in a warzone "how good is the serenity"
Cassandra Classic is clearly intimidated by the sheer mass of humanity you have, somehow and probably through dark magic, constructed a settlement out of and she dares not to send armies your way.
So close to 100k, man!
Troubleshooting, anything designated trouble is shot.
aaa that 1 poor guy that has no bed at the bottom still sleeps on the floor till this day .
Yes, more ants gameplay to inject into my veins, I need more
Your youtube channel is a certified banger
Why is this so satisfying to watch
"You've gotta troubleshoot." Best line of the episode
Yo AM you can see how many humans you had selected on bottom left corner, also you can click and drag when you have humans selected and drafted and you can put them in a line.
Me: I have four colonists and i hardly can keep track of them all
Vidso: Colonist go brrrr
This makes me wanna go on a rimworld binge
At the beginning he should have said "Hello comrades welcome to the goulag"
The colony turned into ram ranch with the cowboys
You should double check the rooms. I noticed quite a few colonists still have sleeping spots instead of beds. Loving the video!!
:D Thanks for the great video! Sooo many colonists.
"Oh there's the doomsday rocket launcher, I was looking for you."
That's... worrying. XD
Oh look at mister nice guy giving the gulag a hospital.
Could you plant a massive coca tree farm and feed everyone off those? They'd get a mood boost and don't need cooking but dunno if it's enough.
you mean cocoa not coca right
cocoa is what you make chocolate out of
coca is what you make cocaine out of
Excel and Legos 😂 that got to me oh gosh ahahah
"Memeass Tirith" lmaooooo
“Oh, THERE’S the doomsday launcher!”
I thought you would be more distraught about the fire, instead we get:
FIRE AND BRIMSTONE!!
_There's nothing about this Gulag that's metaphorical, comrade_
I hope you do a 300, 400, etc etc. the 1000 one was very overwhelming but I want to know what the best amount of bois would be. At a certain point you have too many do deal with resources but if you have a little to few you don’t have enough to make it what you need in time before everyone breaks. I’ve never played rimworld but I love these videos. Thank you for doing all this hard work you handsome man.
I've utilized a tactic for the mechanoid ship piece instance and mortar invasions. I build a couple defensive outpost outside my walls near where they can drop in/set up. Its essentially a roofed box, with sandbags and pillars for cover. Funny stealing the mortar's building supplies before they get to it is the best way I found to defeat them hehe
28:49 Eeeekkk! No, Pool is known as pool. Billiards is it's own game played with just 3 balls.
"Make really violent love to him!" i mean as long as it's consensual? i will prob use this myself now lolol
"It's like Microsoft Excel with Legos."
That's an apt Steam review.
Whenever I'm about to go to bed, I stay up 5 minutes to see if Ambiguous uploads, most of the time it works
laughs in Australien
I subbed bc of rimworld and I'm very happy with this new series
"Guns of Love" would make for a killer rock album, starring Cutter12, Miner11, Plants6 and special guest appearance Doctor14
Damn you and your releasing videos when I intent to go to bed!
When changing medicine restrictions and the like. You can just hold down left click and drag your cursor down. That will change them to the medicine you started off on, a lot quicker. Also, you can copy/paste bills at workstations. There is a small white paper in the corner you can press on.
If you want less lag on larger colonies then the answer is rather simple. Fireproof floor the majority of everything outside of your base. The game tends to spawn in animals to a ratio where the vegetation can sustain them or they leave the map. You can leave a little bit outside your walls if you still want to hunt, If you put it right at the edge of your gun range it makes for easy target practice.
Personally I like using either the bones mod or colored sterile tiles and doing a checkerboard pattern or other weird designs. I get a strange sense of joy in knowing that my enemies become the flooring their brothers in arms will bleed out on.
If you use the raise the roof mod you can pull down overhead mountain roof and completely strip mine the rest of your map, so it's no cover for the enemy as far as the eye can see.
ooh a squirrel in the storage room
*gunshots*
no more
"Is the game stuttering? Well, it's time for GENOCIDE"
Must be those damn wandering animals
Great video lol. Your rimworld thumbnails are amazing. I’ve said that before but it needs to be said again.
I enjoy this far too much
The drones in the colony are more mentally stable than any pawn I had control over
The ambient music at the very beginning sounds like its from lala land haha
Hey man. Enjoying the series. Good job keeping everyone alive up to this point! Not sure if you knew this but a lot of settings can be copy/pasted, like for sleep schedules, bills, storage settings, etc. There are also shortcut keys for every action/order you can issue. Might speed things up for you.
And when assigning meds, just hold down the left mouse button on whatever meds you want them to have, and drag it down the line.
Removing the fade transitions has made the video so much easier to watch, Nice job
Amazing idea! Keep it up!
