My favorite TMNT Neca line definitely has to be the comics. It helps that the original Mirage versions are my favorite interpretations for these characters, but finally getting Jim Lawson styled Turtles figures is just a dream come true.

The Wanderer is the star of a comic Michelangelo wrote.
The green arm pegs through the wraps were an odd choice.

I appreciate your reviews because it feels like a collector reviewing it and not just someone who's hyping a figure for a company.

5:45 Unrelated to Ronin. Basically was a standalone story about Mikey traveling in feudal Japan that ends up is just a story he’s writing where he’s the main character.

Are you sure it was supposed to be Mikey and not a hero he created that was a turtle?

The live action 1990 figures are 4 of my favorite figures in my entire collection but I didn't get the sequel figs besides Super Shredder. So I'll say the comic versions are my favorites, Last Ronin and Mirage/Archie are basically dream figures and I don't feel like putting them away after 1 or 2 pictures.

My favorite neca TMNT line is the 80s inspired line since it's basically an updated version of the 80s line

My favorite NECA TMNT line is definitely the Mirage comic line. It’s my favorite iteration of the turtles and NECA always knocks it out of the park. The other lines are great too though, especially the movie line, and even more so those 1/4 movie turtles. Gorgeous.
As for the straps, I feel like the figure matches the original comic more than the new art on the box, so it’s hard to fault them for trying to be accurate, but at the same time, I don’t think it translates well to three dimensions. Ever since they revived the Mirage line, one of their cool new… features? for the box is they have Kevin Eastman come in and do brand new art for the packaging. So that’s why it doesn’t always match up with the box art, because NECA still bases it on the original source material.

I love the NECA comic Turtle stuff because it’s 1/12 scale. The other lines are closer to a 1/10 or 7 inch scale like their movie and TV figures.

Excellent review of one badass-looking figure! I bloody love the cartoon turtles, and the IP for the movie-based turtles is not bad either; however, these NECA comic-inspired figures are really making me appreciate the comics line. Wonderful aesthetics, dark and edgy storytelling, and overall just a win-win for TMNT fans.
Now, much like Mister Anthony pointed out, I don’t fancy the thin, elongated and stretched ‘X’ for straps on the chest-an unusually rare (cutting corners) misstep for NECA. I cannot think of any sound reason as to why NECA would choose to design it that way; yet I am curious and would thus love to hear NECA’s reasoning for it.
    Thank you for sharing,
    Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧

Uhh for me the best line so far is the comic line. It is easier to find and collect, though the latest four-pack was a chore to get. I have, on the other hand, never been able to follow the cartoon line. It's super bothersome because my local targets don't get them often if at all. I only have Metalhead.
As for this figure, I really like it. Despite those straps, it still manages to be a stunner. And let's be honest, it is still far better than what Mcfarlane and Hasbro do with their figures. I am guessing the only reason they didn't add actual straps was due to cost. It is an exclusive of a relatively obscure version of the turtles. Not everyone reads the comics to be in the know.

Yeah the cross strap and sculpt of the outfit isnt great and I think the back of the shell should be popping up and out way more at the top, its like it vanishes back there,

agreed on straps thought same but in comic matches up, like the panel art looks like that. they based sculpt on his late in comic final battle look, art on box is newer i think.

In this story Mikey wears a sort of kimonoe in the beginning, a soldiers uniform in the middle and in the final battle he looks like this which is just the soldiers uniform torn to shreds. I would have preferred the robed and straw hat look from the beginning but this look is the most suited for an Action figure. The harness is totally a problem. It kinda looks like this in some panels but it isn't accurate to the overall chatacter design.
The only turtles media I consumed as a child was the mirage comics and the 2003 show so this line is the only one I collect.

I don’t really mind how the straps were done. I’m guessing they made it like that to make it come across as a comic sketch. It didn’t work out that well but for me its good enough.

This right here imo proves to all the naysayers that you aren’t a “neca shill”. You are giving brutally honest feedback on a company that you usually like. I agree 100% on the straps, the way it’s sculpted, the front looks like his back. There is no shape to it and the straps are icing on the cake. This figure could benefit from a soft goods custom if someone really wanted to.

It looks good, but the helmet was an odd choice to add as an accessory, because it's not accurate to the movie, but yeah, probably Hasbro's way of say "you can display him in both the 2002 and NWH look", which still doesn't make sense because neither the suit nor glider are accurate to the 2002 version. It's Hasbro so yeah, "at least it kinda looks like" is what you'll get instead of a brand new and accurate '02 figure. Adding a right hand fist instead of the helmet would've made more sense, lol.

Cartoon turtles all the way for me.
The live action is a close second just because of the insane realism they achieve. The Tokka and Rahzar two-pack is easily the best thing NECA has released on a technical level, but it isn’t my favorite.
The Comic lines are my least favorite because I never read them as a kid. The Archie characters they have been releasing recently are so cool that I might actually read some now. I’m not going to buy the comic turtles though, I just don’t like the designs as much, and I have no nostalgia towards them.

Wow! ...yeah, I totally agree. That looks like absolute CRAP, considering it's Neca. That's some ML stuff, right there. And, I have to disagree... I do NOT like the overall aesthetic at all. That chest/shirt thing with the non-sculpted straps is just WAY too noticeably bad... it's the biggest focal point on the figure and it looks like a turd. Sik
