Even though the originals are so much more iconic as far as OG turtles, man these aesthetically look so much better. The original design was more "funny papers" lookin', and these definitely capture a more quintessential comic book aesthetic. Cause originally I was a little thrown off with their bulk, but it really works.

Always thought it was weird that not every iteration of Donnie (the versions that have a strap for Leo's scabbards - and yeah, swords have scabbards, knives have sheaths) has the over-the-shoulder strap for his bo staff. You'd think that'd be a thing; plus it adds a little more variety to characters that look so damn similar.
The turtle initial (M, L, D, R) is seen on the head when you take the head off. Also, Raph's shell is the more scuffed up one due to him getting into fights more often than his brothers

This is a beautiful set, but i have the original Mirage 4 pack from Spencer's Gifts. I bought that set with my first paycheck when i was a teenager. And honestly, I'm good with those. Awesome review, man. I have a nostalgia attachment to the OG Mirage set because they're modeled after Eastman and Laird's art styles.
Do these come with the plastic stick things to make them look like they're in the air? If not, what are they called? Not usually a toy collector, but Im so tempted to get these...
SPOILERS REGARDING THE RTNY ARC OF THR MIRAGE COMICS 1:59 Regarding the artwork on the inside you ask it if it reminiscent of a panel from the comic. I think it is a colored version of the panel where they cremate worm Shredder. Not actual Shredder but worm Shredder is where all these other things got inspiration for how to kill real Shredder. That's why they have Leo decapitate Shredder usually. Because Leo decapitated worm Shredder in the comics. Not how actual Shredder died. I guess people found the iconography of the severed head/helmet more compelling than having him pushed off a building with a bomb.
Leo decapitated Shredder in Tmnt 2003 animated series I think in season 4 near the end of the original war with the Foot Clan where the brothers took the fight to the Foot building and battled Shredder at the top of the tower Game of Death style.

With being an artist, it's very interesting you were never into comics. I'm not positive, but I think the body that is more scratched w detail is Raph (since he is the hot head) and his arm might pop off easier compared to the other bodies.

Since the weaponry, in this case, is Japanese, the term I use is saya. You sheath katana or ninjato in saya.
