- The live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was probably the pinnacle of the TMNT franchise and NECA's onslaught of collectibles from the movies will probably go down in history as some of the best toys ever. Will they be able to keep the mojo going with these two unique character designs though?

I now tend to come here first to get a straight up - non sponsored (and even if it was - have seen Anthony tear something apart if it was trash), no agenda review. Totally agree with you, when he's digging something like this, its both rare and I believe - well deserved!
Secret of the Ooze was my favorite as a kid. Growing up though, the first one really cemented itself as my favorite movie. It's just timeless. I still love the second movie though, and the designs for Tokka and Rahzar..and Super Shredder have always been phenomenal. I'm so glad these figures exist. NECA have some truly passionate and gifted sculptors, and they deserve a raise with this release.
If they made the second more violent or serious ie too many joking around. It would of been amazing. Another disappointment was it was producers chance to introduce Krang!!
I actually really loved the 2nd one a lot. But we don’t talk about the 3rd one..it doesn’t exist 😳
If 3rd is the one they go back in time I actually liked it
The 1st TMNT movie is my favorite but i really like part 2 also.
I remember being obsessed as a kid over these two guys. Its nice to see them done justice in action figure form finally. Glad i ordered two sets.

These two figures are easily some of Neca's all time best work. I'm a big Neca collector, in fact I've been collecting figures from them longer than any other company, but I also don't get everything they make, for me it's mainly their horror stuff, Alien, Predator, Terminator and Gremlins, and even then I don't collect everything from those specific lines. This is an instance where I'm glad I don't have a connection to or collect TMNT stuff since the figures Neca makes for them are too good and would probably bankrupt me, but I'll still acknowledge that they are pretty much all great figures.
I really enjoy the second TMNT movie. It's so 90s. And these figures are MASTERPIECES. Too bad not everyone will get them.

I was so busy with work last summer I had no idea these figures existed or were available to pre-order. What a bummer.
I would of loved to get a 2nd fire extinguisher, puppy and turtle as additional accessories for their final scene. Patiently awaiting my pre order to arrive in AUS. Stay safe merry Christmas
Secret of the ooze was my first live action turtles film as a kid. I loved it. I can’t wait to get my tokka and rahzar in the mail. Great review as always 👍

This is stretching a little, but maybe a non mutated version of them could be included...IDK...I still think that the set already has enough.

I LOVED this movie as a kid, because back then all I really cared about was that it was TMNT. I didnt care about the 'lack of weapon use' or any of the other issues people have about it. If there was a movie I watched more than any of the classic Star Wars VHSs (or Terminator 2) it was Secret of the Ooze. These are 10/10 for me. Glad I picked them up. I hate NECA sometimes but then they do stuff like this and its all love.

These would be perfect to add to your collection of ninja turtles figures, even if you don’t have much of the TMNT 2 figures in your collection.
Honestly I think its a cool movie, felt neat seeing two new big mutants instead of Bebop and Rocksteady. That being said could you imagine they did do Bebop and Rocksteady in the 2nd movie instead of these guys? Lol
Wow. Crazy detail and paint apps. I have 11 NECA figures so far with two of them being TMNT Turtles in Time (Mike and Raph). I had to order them from BBTS because I never see them in my local stores. These won't hit retail and are pre-orders only so 0% chance of me getting one since I don't do pre-orders or buy from scalpers on eBay. Great review as always.
Anthony, when these guys were shown at a con they were the Bell of the ball. I could not wait to get them. I am waiting now and hoping they will show up this year. Definitely will be in the top 5 of most reviewers. Great review. Maybe Santa will leave you some Z's under the tree;).

For accessories, it would have been perfect to have them in their dog/turtle form as they appear in the movie after their mutations is reversed..
When I was young I loved the second movie more than the first. Looking back it's flipped but soft spot

Far as accessories go we should have got a second fire extinguisher to recreate the 1 scene where theywere used. Kinda sucks to only get 1 but its a very minor complaint

I got mine as well. Very Happy with it. I consider neca my cheaper version of hot toys. Quality sculpted and painted figs that I can actually afford. I wish that they can do more DC Movie version figs.
This set is definitely top 3 in my list for 2020, amazing set.

I used to like the second movie. then I got older and did not like it. But now my daughter is super into it and I probably like it more than I ever did. Nostalgia!
Okay I passed on these guys when NECA had them on preorder bc I don’t like SOTO as much as the ‘90 film, but this video convinced me to get one from EBay 😅

I have to say that being at the prime child age when 2 came out ive held a very soft spot for 2. One was too serious for my child brain. As I've grown ive also grown to appreciate 1 a lot more, but I still love 2.
I always passed on neca figures when I was younger simply because of their fragile nature. I was always afraid I might break these figures due to the joints. But now I say “screw it” and got some of the predator figures. Now here I am wishing I could’ve collected more of them back in the day! Mcfarlane’s doing a good job, but man, talk about going for the jugular!
I've have a hard time rewatching
SECRETS OF THE OOZE because I'm such a big fan of the original film and their terrific turtle designs. It's almost like if Necca made the first movie and Mattel made part 2 lol its that much a difference in quality to me.
Neca should use the tokka sculpt to make a Realistic Slash figure like they did with the original playmates Slash to make tokka!

I agree that aesthetically NECA is the best on the USA market by far but the QC is a big issue. I know the price point is low but even then I can't ignore the paint shipping and the glued articulation. NECA's articulation is sometimes lacking, I understand some sacrifices have to be made when the sculpt is that good but even so the articulation could be a bit better. That was my overall opinion about NECA but my opinion about this set is the same as yours, this are the best, they are near perfect for the price point (I actually can't see anything else NECA could have squeezed out of this two for the price point). Secret of the ooze was awesome!!!! Still the first is and always be the best but it was still damn good lol. These 2 figs are pretty damn cool!!!! Me want me want!!!!!!!!!

NECA's QC issues are crazy apparent once people start getting ahold of Krang's Android Body. Paint chipping/ flaking and completely stuck joints and paint issues overall.
If you buy Neca and know what to expect and how handle out of the package (work joints with heat or hot water) In combo with the price point. Undefeated. Coming from someone who will spend as little as 10 bucks for a figure or 400 for a figure.
Great review! I unboxed mine as I am watching your vid. To be fair, the paint transfer is somewhat of a one-off issue so that shouldn't be counted against them.
Maybe the animals that they transformed from?
Wow. What a fantastic set. And I'll catch hell for this but Secret of the Ooze is my favorite Turtles flick. The first film is obviously a classic but part two hits me in a different way.

these are probably figures of the year for me. i saw a few people in figure groups say that they were too expensive and i could do nothing but laugh lol
Yeah that's very unreasonable for people to say considering if you sold these individually at 35 bucks each nobody would complain. I think that are priced perfectly. People had no issues paying 35 for metalhead so why they have an issue paying 35 each for these is ludicrous
Ive not been hyped to own figures since Toybiz Baf days, then Motuc Big Lots & now these..definitely, figures of the year
I love the 1st movie, and will say that it's the best film version of the turtles ever. The 2md film is fun. Goofy, made for a more family audience, but that's not a bad thing. It's just a fun movie.

I don’t like to have to heat up a figure for me to pose it, I shouldn’t have to do their job for them (which is making a figure that isn’t stiff) Still a great bunch, let’s hope there is no QC with others
I 100 percent agree about NECA being one of the best domestic action figure producers especially at there price, I cant wait for these to come in
I feel like the ONLY thing they could have added that may have made sense was the de-mutated animal versions of them, but thats a stretch and obviously not necessary.

I can’t remember if it was a tokka or rahzar action figure but I remember dropping and losing one of them at an airport when I was a kid
Second movie was way off the first, way better than the third but no doubt had the most visually interesting designs of the 3 with these 2 and super shredder.
The 2nd movie isn't bad, but they really dropped the ball changing up the tone so much. If they had gone with the original proposal from laird/eastman it would have been an awesome trilogy but instead we got something that could sell toys with dumbed down violence and removal of grit. The first movie is a fine balance between the fun of the cartoon series and the grit of the original comic series. Loved secret of the ooze as a kid and I can still watch it now (finding some enjoyment) but the first one is just so much better.
These figures are a good example of where the budget is going with NECA. Sure you have the very valid argument of "non durable goods" but I agree with what you said regarding nobody else coming close when it comes to detail/paint and accessory counts.. it's no contest. I would however be wiling to pay more for something not classified as "non durable goods".
i dont know if they can help it. their size might simply limit what they can achieve.
These guys are up for pre order this Tuesday. And I’m sure they’ll go fast. I knew neca would bring them back. I was about to pay 180$ a while back and I’m so glad I didn’t. I think they’re gonna cost about 70$ on tbe neca site

I agree with the overall statement that Neca is HANDS DOWN the company that is giving you the best bang for your buck; they USUALLY have excellent paintjobs that give their figures a "this is NOT a toy" look, they're certainly never small and they cover a lot of stuff that any other company like Medicom or SHF would ask you for twice the money (at least) for.
However, like all good companies, they also kinda refuse to get better in some other areas. With the notable exception of the AMAZING TMNT live-action line & maybe that special white Predator, the articulation they feature is usually clunky, limited for no reason and, more importantly, fragile. I understand that last aspect comes down with the price but it still sucks. Even if you rightfully say that "they go for aesthetics first"; these two figures AND that Predator exhibit that they can do both when they try. They also have a long way to go with human faces and digital printing (or lack thereof).
I wish they put the same amount of effort in their Godzilla line than what's showcased in these two figures. Friday the 13th is another line that comes to mind with very outdated engineering and that line is still going.
Man I actually want those but the fact they are NECA still worries me.
A toy/collectible company that constantly claims to not be a toy/collectible company, since they officially file themselves as a "perishable consuner goods" company with almost all their products also being listed as "perishable consumer goods"..
I received mine yesterday and my tokka is missing one of his eyebrows I'm so disappointed and mad. I hope neca can do something about it, iv spent SO much money on there toys over the years and this is not good enough.
I think 3 beats 2 because of the character development but other than that 2 wins for just these big monstrosities

I love Secret of the Ooze! Its the perfect combination of the seriousness of the original film and the goofiness of the cartoon. These guys are of course a big reason why i love it too. Still waiting for mine to arrive.

I really liked the 2nd movie but had my heart broken on the 3rd.
I feel like they should be 8.5 & 9.0 inches. Definitely faller than the Turtles!

Tokka is probably taking my top spot for figure of the year, I honestly never was a fan of Rahzar, so despite the nice work they did on him, I'm just meh about the figure.
I would have enjoyed this set more if my Tokka hadn't arrived damaged and they actually had the foresight to order some additional sets for QC issues. 😒 $70 set and the best they could do was give me a $10 refund.

I certainly don’t hate the second movie but it’s such a departure from the first movie that it almost feels like it’s not even in the same universe.
