- I have found that GORN VR goes alongside Fallout 4 VR as an absolute nightmare, and this is why,. SO I’m milking it for all its worth and made another of the now IMMENSELY popular “this is why/nightmare” series. In this episode we look at one of the best VR games I’ve ever played.
Don’t let all the nightmare and complaining get you, this game really is absolutely fantastic, and I hope it comes across in this episode. Sadly all the modding vidoes have been taken over by this series.

WELCOME TO MY FIRST NON FALLOUT 4 VIDEO ALMOST EVER. My review of Fallout 4 VR was so mindbendingly well received I decided to try and see if there were any other games that were absolute nightmares and I found GORN VR.
GORN VR is a little special in its ‘Nightmare’ status, the game is perfect. Literally perfect, it has no flaws. Except it takes the VR immersion factor so far you really have to clear your loved ones out the room. I knew VR could be a nightmare, but I never thought it was would be this dangerous.
Watching this made me relive the moment when I stepped into this game and immediately punched a hole in a shelf, punched my monitor, then on the final level raised my head towards the sky and obliterated the lightbulbs hanging above me sending a shower of glass all over the room like demented confetti
Me and my friends were at a vr arcade and one of them tugged on the wire with his hand on several occasions
I was playing this on my rift cv1. Within three days of owning the game I had completely destroyed my right thumbs tick and put scratches all over the tracking rings. I had to buy another pair of controllers. Note to self: play gorn in a bigger room.

I didnt quite understand upisnotjump’s take on the “too immersive” for a while since i hadnt ever played VR. But ive been playing vr for about a year now, and my mind always seemed to pick up on my real world borders really well, until i played GORN. About five minutes ago i just pimp slapped the shit out of my closet door, during my first session playing GORN. My brain completely ignored the very apparent warning that was in front of my face because it was distracted by the need to KILL

The number of times I have been concerned that I might have just broken the tempered glass on the side of my PC case is a concerning fact all on its own (5, by the way).
I had the same thing when I played Astro Bot. While that game doesn't need you to punch things, I genuinely felt my body cool down when I played the water levels! It was just that immersive that my unconscious mind reacted to my "physical" environment within the game.

I think what must be happening is your mind is somehow so convinced that the water is real that you triggered the Mammalian Dive Reflex (which is not actually exclusive to mammals), which is USUALLY triggered by water hitting your face. It's a rapid subconscious bodily instinct that pulls blood flow somewhat away from your extremeties and towards your core to brace for entering water, which will, of course, be colder, so it can maintain body heat in the important places. (This is why splashing yourself with water 'wakes you up', you're getting a rush of blood flow back to the center of your body.
But I always thought that required the *physical contact* with a liquid... The fact you can trick yourself into experiencing it with convincing enough non-physical stimuli is actually kind of fascinating (and sliiiiightly existentially terrifying, but what isn't these days?)

This was one of the first games I got, I played it for 20 mins before I destroyed a light-bulb.
Another hour later, I destroyed another, then by the 3rd hour, I broke a controller and left a sizeable hole in my bedroom wall.
I have not touched it since.

Less than an hour after I started playing Gorn I managed to not only punch out Christmas tree but also shatter a bunch of ceramic decorations.
I bought gorn because of you. I'm now a complete lunatic that hacks up dead bodies after I chain-hook people off the sidewalk.

Gorn is the first and only game i've bought for my VR headset so far. I've smacked my desk, my dad has smacked my desk, and i've walked headfirst into a wall. That being said, it's a masterpiece, so buy it.

The VR one is, just back up against a wall when you start. I go to basically a VR arcade to play, and they have had 4 controllers broken by people playing super hot

Horseshoes, and Handgrenades. It’s a VR gun simulator that is so in depth, down to the smallest details. Every thing is really accurate. I highly recommend.

This is the first VR game I've played where I got a bit of motion sickness and its spot on to what you said in the video. Brain thinks you have loads of room, but then you're confined to a small space.

You can also rip peoples hearts out, use limbs as weapons and my god is it fun I've played it. I stayed up hours playing it alone. I agree completely with this

I clocked my wall with my vive controller and snapped it in half. My play area is 5x5 meters too.
Luckily the wire components inside just unplugged from the circuit boards and I was able to plug them back in and literally Frankenstein my controllers plastic shell back together with super glue and tape.

I've had my VR installed for 27 hours, and I've played this game for 99 minutes according to my steam account. That's been enough time to break my right hand controller by punching it directly into a desk.
Seriously people, if you're going to purchase this, make sure that you have enough room to play. Do not attempt to even turn it on if you don't have 10 feet by 10 feet of unobstructed space.

Oh that game is so good. I was so upset when it ended, i finished it in one sitting. It freaks you out when you enter the headset in light, and leave in pitch darkness.
Play it again and look for the secret hidden Extreme Drifter ;)

This could be such good self defense training! The main thing holding me back is not wanting to harm people. Right now, my practice punches have all the slow, insubstantial force as dream-punches. I don't have VR yet, but Gorn will be on my list!
