    despite how much we LOVE blonde hair, this week we're doing the exact opposite of the norm: dying hair from BLONDE to CHOCOLATE BRUNETTE. this is called a TINT BACK because we'll be FILLING the BLONDE HAIR to CHOCOLATE BROWN. the process involves restoring the color that removed when her hair was lightened for a rich, sultry, and shiny CHOCOLATE BRUNETTE hair.

    Wow...i wish I would have found this video earlier! I was using a highlift cool blonde by Ion with 20 developer every few months to touch up my roots. I went in to get a balayage and told the stylist this and she said I would have no problems. So I get it done and I have brassy brownish orange hair and a demarcation line. I didn't notice it in the salon lighting that day. So I called her 2 days later and just went back in to get her to fix it and it looks so much better and well blended. The stylist is perplexed at how it ended up that way even though I had not washed it for 3 days. Um maybe because she didn't use a filler before doing the balayage. So my question is how do you take a platinum blonde and give them a balayage to add in medium brown to their hair without it looking brassy, gray, or green?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  6 лет назад +3

      Amber W well the proper way to do it is to fill what you want dark first and redo the hair with the EXACT SAME foiling pattern with the end colour! if theres more than 3 levels of difference , the hair wont look muddy if it isnt filled 😊

    would you ever just fill and color with a demi. so they still have the option to be blonde after?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  7 лет назад +15

      Hey lady! Lovely to see you back again. Yes you are able to fill and color with a demi. It is going to vary for each client. We do not recommend that our clients switch back and forth between dark and blonde. Maybe lowlights would work best if they think they will want to be light again soon. Regardless of demi and permanent, they both will require lightening to get out fully which can over process the hair. Side note: if you are removing dark pigment on prelightened hair, I would use pravana color extractor to remove as much pigment as possible before lightening :) Hope that helps!

    Honestly I've been trying to dye my hair chocolate brown for ages and I tried asking my local hair stylist, but she just gave me a mahogany colour. But my hair went mahogany instead of brown. I then removed the dye and bleached it to a level 8 blonde, and added brown hair dye, but the colour turned rusty without any warm pigments. I repeatedly tried using a hair colour remover to remove the dye and added the brown but it went orange.
    But after what you've demonstrated I tried filling it with mahogany brown, and then used a brown hair dye over it and the results were fabulous!!
    This video has helped me heaps!!

    • @nvennhairbeauty

      The volume would depend on how much lift you needed. For Chayla, yes a 10vol is fine. If someone had a natural level one then you would need to use a 30vol.
      If the color is faded then yes pull it through. You may need to formulate differently than the roots though. The other thing you can do is add water for the last 10 mins and emulsify (if it isn't too faded)

My question to you is the following...the girl at Sallys said I needed the BROWN protein filler because I was dying my hair brown. I’ve been watching your videos; law of color, etc. I’m doing my own hair. I’m going only one or two shades deeper (from a level 7-8) and wonder if any filling is necessary. There is now plenty of warmth visible that I will tone down by choosing a neutral to ash shade of brown. Am I on the right track? I will do a seperate root smudge NN for gray. Should the root smudge come last? I’m trying Demi on color, but permanent on roots. Sound alright? Thanks!

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  2 года назад +1

      No a filler isn't needed for one level. Demi's don't cover grey. If your hair is healthy enough you could use a permanent color from root to end. I can't help with the formula though. I would need to see your hair in real life to be able to assist with that. Hopefully that helps!

    Great job. :O) The color came out so nicely!! I have around level 7 or 6 natural light brownish-auburn-ish hair and every time I've tried to dye it browner it comes out brown with major red highlights. Any suggestion on what to use before using the brown dye? I use Wella Color Charm in light, medium or dark brown. Thanks for any tips. :O)

    I want my hair back to natural black because its faded blonde with pink right now. Can i just dye black hair dye on it or do i have to do the same as what u did ?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  4 года назад

      if you want just black black then you could just be simple and color it black 2-3 times. black is strong enough that it will just stay after a couple colorings. if you even wanted a dark brown, i would follow the steps in this video.
      sorry for the delay. i have been travelling and just got back from india!

    I've been watching a lot of blonde to brown tutorials and this video in particular has the best result. I'm wanting to dye my hair brown but last year I got a "rose gold" balayage that was verrry copper. I used a purple shampoo for a while to tone it down. Now it's a golden blonde and I want to go to a light mahogany brown. But I'm afraid off it turning green. Do you have any advice?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  5 лет назад +1

      ahhh thank you :) to avoid it turning green you need to put the "red color" back in like i did. that being said, just like in the video, you need to be careful with red because its such a strong color. i couldn't give you exact any specific advice without seeing your hair first but if you don't want a strong red hue, sometimes using a rose gold or a copper/ golden fill color would be sufficient depending on how dark the mahogany result is that you want. a stylist would know how to formulate for you though so just take a picture in with you of your desired end result :)

    If I get a semi-permanent brown dye (in a salon) over my blonde hair, when the brown fades what colour will my hair be?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  5 лет назад

      hi Rachel! with all colours it’s hard to say how long it will last before it fades. things like hot water will affect how long the colour lasts over time. we recommend washing it in cold water. also use a high quality shampoo like our wash & polish will help with the longevity of the colour. it also depends how pourous the hair is when you colour it - if it’s more pourous it means it’s more damaged, which is why it’s inportant to cut away any of the dead ends. otherwise it depends on the under pigment of the hair, there are a lot of variables but these are important things to consider 🙂

      helloooo i would recommend seeing a pro. the formula can be adjusted depending on how dark you want your brown to be and how much warmth you want to show through. for example, if you want it less warm you can fill with copper rather than red. the fill formula could also change depending on how green/ grey it is :) what city do you live in?

    Great video btw! Can I ask you a question that is bugging my brain? I understand filling when you’re going 3 lvls or darker. But.......Let’s take a hypothetical and say we have a natural level 3-4 who is now a rooted platinum level 9 blonde with her natural root, and she wants a reverse balayage (Let’s say her inspo pic is a level 3-4 with a level 9 dimensional balayage). How would you go about this? I’ve seen some use demi liquids but of course the result is translucent and fades fast! In a situation like this could you add the missing pigment into your formula and do a swatch test? I just don’t know how to fill certain pieces of hair before you color them......unless your filler was in the form of color mixed with water then you could apply your filler followed by your color?
    Aweeeee..... my brain is stuck!

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  5 лет назад

      HEELLLOOO, hmm this is a tough question to answer because a dimensional balayage can mean a lot of things. what we always say is there is no short cuts to good hair. i had a client that needed a major color correction once and i did the entire color with the fill color and than did it a second time with the final color. it was a lot of work but ultimately the client gets charged accordingly. here is the video of it if you want to see it.

      hi yoleen! you would probably have to fill it in first, the formulation depends how your hair looks like and where you want to go. it would be best to have a local hair professional take a look and go from there 😊

      @LissaJaded 5 лет назад +1

      How long ago did you get your hair colored? If it was recently, I would go back to your stylist and politely explain what you're not happy with. As a hair stylist, I want to know that my client is leaving the salon happy. If they are not 100% satisfied, I want them to feel able to tell me so I can change it. It is crucial that both the stylist and client be completely honest with each other. Lol, after that ramble, my point is to go back to your stylist and see what he/she can do for you first before trying to fix it with box color and end up making things worse, which could end up costing you way more money for a complete color correction.

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  5 лет назад

      we could not agree more with what callie said! go back to the original stylist who did your hair and if they are not willing or able to find a solution to your needs that pleases you, explore other options. we definitely do not want you to go through a massive colour correction that will damage your hair & cost you even more money. most hairstylists are willing to fix errors as long as there is open dialogue & communication between the client and hairstylist

    Hi there iv just came across your video, your amazing at what you do.
    I have decided to dye my hair only because iv been getting a lot of grey coarse hairs suddenly. I was very nervous about colouring my hair so I decided to stay closer to my natural hair colour which is medium light brown so I bought light brown box dyes from Store as it would be the best thing for me as I don't know much about hair colouring at all. However the result was my top of my head hair is 3 tones lighter than my rest of my hair 😳please can you advice me what I can do to make it one shade.

      Our recommendation would be to see a stylist. When it comes to filling colors, there's no way to guarantee that your results will be an even color or not. Where are you located? If going to a salon is out of the question, you may want to find a hair stylist that's familiar with brands in your area to help. Sorry we can't help more but we'll try our best! If you send photos to info@nvenn.com we could probably help you out more accurately :) Thanks for watching our video and stay tuned! xoxo Every friday we release new videos

      Typically, we'll combine the cost of supply with our labors hours. The average color correction appointment in our salon is between 4-8 hours. We let our clients know in advance an estimate and make sure that they understand that it may be off by a process or two. At the end of the day, as long as the client understands the lengths you're going to protect their hair and go the best possible route- they understand the price. that depends how dark of red and how dark or brown. red is a strong color and will likely show through on the brown unless its a really deep dark brown. the other thing to note is that the red will show through when the brown fades so you definitely want to be careful. i always recommend getting color corrections done professionally.

    Hi I did a color remover and my roots are dark brown and the rest is a gold color how can I get this chocolate brown ? Other dyes from salon centric tho?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  3 года назад

      We don't have salon centric here in Canada so I'm not sure. You need to check the level of your hair and replace the pigments missing. Have you seen our law of color video?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to go from blonde to black. I understand that I would need a filler so my hair won't turn green. But I'm still a bit confused of what numbers I need to mix to get to my desired color.

    My hair is blonde in the bottom of my hair and I wanna go darker but I’m scared the brown color fades away and goes back to blonde, any recommendations?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  3 года назад +1

      If you fill it properly it won't fade much. All colors will fade though. Even blondes need to get their hair retoned every 6 weeks or so. Go for it! New look new you 🥰

      @@nvennhairbeauty yep definitely going for it! I died my hair a year and a half ago and I haven’t touched it ever since, and my hair grew out and there’s like 3 different colors and I don’t like it so I really wanna die my hair one color, and hopefully it doesn’t fade much! Thank you❤️

    Is the hair filler a permanent color?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  3 года назад

      It can be but doesn't have to be. If the hair is healthy, I like to use a permanent color because only permanent colors actually penetrate into the cortex (hence why it's permanent). If the hair is porous though, a demi color would be easier on the hair.

    What happens if that warm tone red comes through the number four dark chocolate brown? That is what happened to me and my stylist said if I wanted she could go darker but I don’t want darker than dark chocolate brown? But the red is coming through a lot and I wanted it an even dark chocolate all over...any suggestions?

    • @nvennhairbeauty
      @nvennhairbeauty  5 лет назад

      ahhh i'm sorry for missing this comment. i am just seeing this now. i presume you already did this? basically your stylist would just have to add a bunch of green to her formula. it will make it look slightly darker though but not much. a true chocolate brown is on the warmer side but it can be more of a golden version. how did your hair turn out?
