So would i add gold to go from level 9 blonde to a copper orange?
My hair is basically a natural light blonde on top and a touch darker at the back with white gray kinky hair at my temples. Really like a 7R. I had bought a 6R to do first, to ease my way into a darker color, so I don't have dark color shock. When I was 35, I had lost a lot of hair on top of my head and wanted to do a golden blonde. I had luck with Clairol's golden blonde, but accidentally bought Laurel Feria in golden blonde and it turned out Bozo orange. I'm 60 and haven't touched it since. So did I do the new color choice correctly by going with a 6R first, before using a 7R? @hair-budda, do you have any suggestions?
Ok, I'm going to it, bleach blonde to copper, will share on Instagram. Wish me luck lol
You are by far the most knowledgeable and helpful person on RUclips. I can’t thank you enough for your information. Kudos to you. You’re a ⭐️
This was interesting. Most videos on back filling the hair (what you call pre-pigmenting) just tell you to use a copper color and they don't ever say anything about 1 shade lighter, or if you want to go gold, or mahogany. This was more indepth. Thank you.
This clip is a keeper!👌🏻Love this hair color Van Gough! 👨🎨 You have helped immensely and I’m a seasoned colorist.😎
If u didnt know the info in this video and put your hands on a client SHAME ON U! This is hair styling 101.
Thank you so much for this video! I just colored my hair back from blonde to brown using your tips. I came out beautiful and is almost spot on to my natural color.😊
I recommend your channel to everyone I see myself coming back to your videos often for advice you make learning fun!
The last time I got my hair done, I had a lot of blonde Highlights in my hair but I wanted to go with less highlights and more my natural dark brown color. My poor hairdresser. Each blonde highlight she had done the year prior she had to repigment then dye to my natural color. God bless her those sections were so tiny it took several hours but she did an amazing job
Hi from Australia. As I allways go to hairdresser as I to have had a couple of hair fails in my time. I'm older. Lol. This video was very informative. Especially if in lockdown and want your hair done. Howevet in my opinion we have hairdressers for a reason. You wouldn't go to a Dr in someone's yard if you were sick. Lol . So it's just my opinion to go to a professional. Plus you get the glorious head scalp massage. Heaven. If during a week you aren't happy with your hair you can go back and they will make it right for free. That's here in Australia. Great video. Great advice. 👌👌👌
Wow! What a very informative video! Such amazingness.
thx for watching
I needed to hear this info. I knew it will be faded. This makes so much more sense! The base layer one lighter and the 10 volume 👏 Good professional advice. Thank youuuuuu 🙏
Hi!! I just wanted to thank you for this video, it really helped me to achieve the color I wanted! I went from bleached platinum bond to bright copper and turned out beautiful! I had already bought a 7.43 from wella color touch line (as suggested by the store employee) so I used that one with a 6vol. developer cream for the pre pigmentation, and a 7.44 from FarmaVita 3Deluxe Line for the final coloration ( I know we are supposed to use a tone lighter but I figured it was okay since I wasn't set on a specific tone as the outcome).
I had 3 inches virgin growth, level 7. The rest of my hair was level 9 bleached blonde. I filled with Redken Shades EQ 9GB to bleached area only. Dried hair. Next day, mixed 3/4oz 8N, 1/4oz 10AG, 1oz processing solution applied to filled hair only. Toned for 2o minutes. Excellent very neutral dark blonde result one or maybe half shade lighter than natural hair color. Thank you for the advice.
I am so thankful I watched this video before going from blonde back to my natural brunette tone. Thank you for being so informative ❤️
If you don’t have 10 volume you can water 20 down with actual water to make it a 10. I’ve done this in a bind
Yes you can add half water to 20 vol
Thank you for that cause this helped me today
Brilliant !!! Can you do a video on toning bleach hair with 8 or 9 level toners?
Wish I would of seen this video before I made my mistake my hair was swamp green horrendous I color oops my hair now it yellow with orange with a little tint green I’m upset
🙈🙈🙈
How you fixed ?
I'm the same I don't know what I should do now I was blind with orange red so I went light brown no 6 it has med ginger on top and green highlights at bottom some slight blonde coming through 😢. I don't know what I should do I want a light brown so I can put highlights on after I've treated it for few weeks. It a total mess right now .... Anyone can help what I should do next
.
I know this is an old video, but I just came across it. When U was coming up we called this 'filling' and they made special products specifically to fill, different than a regular dye. Today I suppose you could use a demi permanent color for this purpose.
Great video upload, contained great information ❤
thx for watching
Very interesting. Love the short and longer video's with tips and tricks😚 Does the same rules apply for grey hair? I colour my hair with 7.3+ volume 20 but still find some white hairs in my comb so these hairs were not dyed.😕
Good question
You are awesome my hair guru😘
thx 😊
Exactly what I needed! Thank you ! ❤
My dearest,Hair Buddha, you are one of a kind..!I watch your videos for a long time now and I love your expertise, your comments, your reactions and your humor..🙃
This video helped me soooooo much!
I followed your advice and it worked perfectly!
Thank you,thank you,thank you..!🥰👏🎉☺️
P.S. and I am not a hairdresser..😉
Kisses and hugs from Greece..🙏😘
Perfect video!!! One question!
After the pre-pigmentation with 10% volume, for the final color we have to use 10% as well? Or we can use 20%?
10Vol
Good info thank you for sharing. I myself have never bleached my hair and I’m 67yrs old.
Brilliant advice thank you hair budda man your awesome
Help!! My hair was a very faded copper (Artic Fox). I went to a salon for them to dye it dark chocolate brown. They did not do pre-pigmentation. My roots are dark chocolate brown, but the rest of my hair has greenish tones, dull, and you can see the faded copper blonde peeking through. What can i do?? Ugh, should I just do a gloss or dye it again??
Your videos have been such a huge help to me! I was very very nervous about bleaching my hair. But I sectioned into 6 parts and bleached small sections at a time. My hair actually lighted to nearly the color I wanted to dye it. It's gone from a 2 to a 7. I am aiming for a blond with some copper in it. Do I need to add more pigment or can I deposit that color onto a 7? Thank you for making your videos! I am learning so much from them!
Hello, if you want a warm (copper/gold) blond level 7 or 8, then you don't have to add pigments before you color.
@@hair-buddha thank you! Can't wait to see more of you videos on here and tiktok. Sending love, good vibes, and great hair days! 💕✌
Hello, I love your videos! Thank you for all your advice.
How about pre-pigmentation for a level 11 or 12 hair color (white hair/copper) like you mentioned? How would I accomplish pre-pigmentation if my goal color is like a reddish brown color?
Thank you SO much for this video! Super helpful
This video was so informative & comprehensive ! Thank you sir. Seriously Appreciate this Fellow ❣️ Love Love Love!!!
Excellent video! thank you! ❤
I love your videos!! Watching them helped me learn what is Wright to do with my hair. I’m so happy I watched this one how to go brown. Thank you for all your hard work and videos!
Hair Buddah, I love your videos!! You have a lot of knowlege, which I thank you for sharing with us, but you're also quite funny. Yes, please... can you make a blonde-to-brunette video?? Thanks so much!!
Took your advice hair is a winner 🏆
You are awesome 😎 omg I had such a hard time finding a video to explain this before I wasted more money! Thank you so much ❤️
Your welcome
Lovin ya reactions so funny and so excited to see how much people do,add, put things in their hair to change their color maybe soon they will used puddings we never know
😱
I have bleach damaged hair and want to transition slowly back to brown, and have made a video where I test out a few different hair colors on small sections of my hair. Thank GOD I didn't do a full head of brown on my own. (The bleach damage was, sadly, by a hairdresser and it has made me quite sad.)
So glad i rewatched this 😅 i was about to do some crazy shit 🤣
Dear Hair Buddha, I really need some help and I trust a professional like you would point me in the right direction. My hair is blonde (about a level 9) but I have orange banding (about level 7). In your opinion what is the best way to gently even out the color since my hair is damaged and easily snaps? Thank you in advance
This is very difficult to do. You have to take section by section, just coloring the band of orange with bleach and 20vol. Each section should be protected with a aluminium foil (not foiled).
@@hair-buddha I just followed your advice and cannot thank you enough! My orange band is entirely gone and got zero damage!
Thank u Mister! U r a professional teacher ❤
Please make a video on covering gray hair
I started following this chanel after i saw this video because its very informative very useful for understanding whats going on with coloring in one video .. i was seriously searching about this king of informations so thank you very much and i really would want to see a video about dying your natural color hair one or two shades lighter or even lighter, do i have to use bleach or do a hair dresser have to use bleach regardless etc. i am really curious about dying your natural hair so it would be perfect if you make a video about that
Hi, HB! This was a terrific video, the best I've ever seen! I am a level 8, but don't like the tone. How can I safely go to a level 9, and with a different tone, and with some slightly gray regrowth? It may not seem like a dramatic change, but I don't want to end up with roots that are lighter than ends. Please advise me. Thank you for considering my request.
Love this explanation 🙏
I have soft black hair .. when I put extra light blonde box dye (feria #11.11) my roots turn a copper reddish medium blonde I believe it's a leven 7 or 6... which is my base color
I need a video about how to go from box dye (light brown) to grey. My roots are now salt pepper grey and growing out for 5 months but the lengths are box dye (light brown). Thin, fine, straight hair chin length bob.
Can you do a video on hair styles to suit face shapes please???? Best fringe/bangs for each face shape please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@Aly Art did a good video on this topic. It's more complcated than face shape (to my surprise). Worth to have a look at her channel.
Aly Art bangs is a very good video on this topic. To my surprise it's more compilcated than face shapes alone. Really worth to have a look at her channel!
@@monicaclasener thank you I’ll check it out!! Is it something to do with hair on top of your head too or something?? My daughter tried explaining but was confusing 😂
@@monicaclasener I’ve subscribed immediately!!! There are hundreds of videos I wanna watch now thank you 🙏
@@mariannescarfe6836 You're welcome!
Hello there, could you possible make a video about how to go from darkbrown to copper red at home? But here is the tricky bit, preferably without bleach. I use permanent blond hair colour (boxdye), and only colour my grouth but the problem is that my new growth now keeps getting lighter and lighter and my hair basically goes from lighter strawberry blond to copper at the bottom.oh and btw. I have been dowing this for about ten years, if not longer perhaps even 15. anyways, despite this I have rather healthy hair, a bit dry since I am curly but otherwise very healthy. thank you so much, and please keep making new content. I really love what you do!
Thank you for the advise and for your help. I have question, though. If you have coloured your hair a warm red/copper colour (I have darker hair, but with bleeched/highlighted hair sections to make the new colour adhere), is ok to directly apply a warm red or warm copper hair colour to your hair? Again, thanks for being here for us!
My hair was blonde before I dyed it black and now its fading to some brown and even blonde so is that why the black didnt stick ?
Yes
Going from lightest end of the color spectrum to the darkest and just putting straight black color on will not work( as he explained the blonde was an empty tube with no pigment ), you need to follow pre -pigmentation steps before applying desired color. If your not a professional colorist , best to visit one for such a dramatic change. 🤞 Best of luck.
This was SO helpful thank you!!
Can you do a video on pre-pigmentation for fashion colors please?
Thank you for that information. I now can go forward from platimun to copper. Cant wait
Fantastic video! Added to my favourites! Thank you 🙏🏼
Thx for watching
I have watched this video like 4 times at this stage. I really hope I know what I’m doing. My hair has been bleached and then copper with direct dye. Managed to remove the colour with colour remover and a bleach wash. Now my hair is I’d say a level 9-8 blonde. It’s not too yellow. I feel like I can confidently go outside and not look ridiculous. Maybe it’s a Golden/Natural Blonde. I want to go back to my natural hair colour which I would say is like a level 7 dark VERY ash blonde (most “ash” colours still look too warm on my hair). After that I just want to grow out my hair.
I have done Aphogee Protein treatment to improve the health of my hair so hopefully it will be less porous and also recently chopped off a lot of damage, my hair is a bob just below my chin.
I bought a Redken Shades EQ level 09N and 07N as they didn’t have 08N. I will use that with 7 volume to fill/re-pigment my hair. This is supposed to be a Natural level 8 blonde. Then I plan to mix Wella Color Touch 8/81 Light Pearl Ash Blonde and 7/97 Medium Cendre Brunette blonde with 13 Volume. A combo of them two looks closest to my natural hair colour. Both very ashy. I really hope it works out well.
I never record anything or put it on youtube, but maybe I’ll try to document how it went.
If anyone has any suggestions that could help, please feel free to comment.
This is so helpful! Thanks! 😊
Very helpful, thank you. I will be going from blond to copper soon.
good luck
very helpful video.you are very good teacher all of us👍👍
I absolutely love watching you’re videos I wish you would make more reaction videos on people dying and bleaching their hair. I’ve almost watched every single video you have on this channel I enjoy it so much I go and rewatch the old videos. I would do one myself but… I’m kinda a chicken lol 😂 I’m camera shy.
Please make video about "from colored black to chocolate brown" 🙏🙏🙏🙏😫
I want back to my natural brown, after 6 month black❤🙏
thanks for explaining, i'm saving it in my favs
Great information. Thank you
Is this only for bleaced blonde? Or do ppl who are born with natural blonde to do this as well?
I’ve watched lots of videos but want your advice and thoughts on colour removers! Best way to strip old colour before bleaching !! Green/blue is so hard to fade out!!
Joico color eraser is fantastic. I have used it a bunch. I used it to strip black out of my hair and it went back to almost full blonde with a touch of copper.
@@TheRockInnRobin oh wow thank you 🙏
My hair is platinum blonde, I would like to go intense copper. What color should I pre color my hair with? Any natural color? Dark blonde? Copper? I dont understand, heeeelp
Hello I want to be med brunette on the chocolate side I have half highlight of blonde and the rest lowlights what would I do?
😂 All my hair at home disasters pinwheel in my head for sec. Im blonde and I would like to start using my hair red, a dark red without looking sick becomes my yellow skin tones. This video helps me decide which way to go or even if yo go that route at all.
Is this possible with BOX COLOUR? To choose one shade lighter 1st, then go back in with the desired shade 2nd time round??
So if I like the results using a gloss or Demi permanent color, can I use the same color in permanent hair dye for a longer lasting effect?
Please please do some merch that says sections!!!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!
Great information. Is there any variances for people with natural red hair?
The second stap is also with 10 Vol. or 20 Vol. Thx from Switzerland
so helpful. thank you.
So, if my hair is platinum, and I want to go to a light golden brown, that means that I need to go a medium blonde first and then cover it with a light golden brown color ?
But if I'm foiling bits of copper through blonde bleached hair. do I mix a natural in with the copper. Then foil.
Very useful. Is level 5 dark brown hair or light brown hair?
Thank you. 🙏
I love your videos. I have a question if I want to prepigment a level 10 hair to a 7.73 brown. what color should i use?
One shade lighter...8.7
I’m platinum now with about 2ins of new growth I wanna go black so should I dye red first ?
How about gray hair? How to color gray hair that is about 50% gray 50% natural/ old bleach
I need to know this!!
Hi there, this is applicable for white hair? Problem is that when there is a regrowth with white and natural color, the color is not the same so can I repigmentate ? What dl you suggest? Love your channel and vids. Thanks
Can i use permanent color for pre pigmentation?
If my client want auburn, after the highlight,I will do pre pigment of natural gold?let say the come out of highlights is level 9 and I will do pre pigment of natural gold 8 or 8 level copper? Then I will do toner evel 7? Pls teach me thank you.
Thank You so much for this video. 🙂🥰
thx for watching
So good i watched this video. I knew i have to pre tone but i thought it has to be orange or red all the time. My golden brown would have been to orange then
So if I am trying to change the level of brown I have, how light should I bleach it? Should I stop at orange? Or should I just go blonde, then add the pigments.
I love this guy!❤️
Amazing tips
I'm enjoying your videos very much! So here's my issue...My hair bleaches naturally with the sun. I have not lightened it since I was a teen (35 years ago!) and used...shudder...Sun-In...My regrowth is a dirty blonde, kind of ashy. I have always reached for a dark ash blonde box dye and it inevitably turns brassy. A couple of years ago I discovered purple shampoo, and now more of a blue one. I use it every couple of weeks, when I really can't handle the brass anymore and it turns out amazing. But...I want my whole head to be the colour of my roots! My daughter used proper dye from Sally Beauty a couple of years ago and it was gone so quickly. Every time I dye my hair the blonde is back within 3 weeks.
My question, after all that pre-amble, is do I just re-pigment my blonde? It's the top layer of my hair and all the ends of the layers that get touched by the sun, if that makes sense...like I lift the blonde and it's dark underneath. I got a perm and a cut a few weeks ago (perm every 4 months) The cut was to get rid of as much summer blonde as possible.
You have another video where the girl dyes her blonde with box dye brown and you said she should do it a second time within a week...should I do that? BTW, I have such fine and low-density hair that I don't even need the whole bottle to fully saturate my hair!
I look forward to hearing your advice!
Blond hair needs to be re-pigmentated, otherwise it fades very quickly. Plus when you perm your hair, then your hair is poreus, it means that the colour can fade out quickly. You need to put a conditioner on the lengths (NOT THE ROOTS) to close the layers around the hair. It is like closing the door of your house to keep the heat inside.
Thank you so much for all your information . I have learned so much from you. Also love the videos.
Hi, thank you so much for making these videos, they' re so helpful! Can you do an explanation on how to go from brown to ginger?
I'm not a hairdresser but have watched a lot on colouring hair. It would depend on how brown you are, to get to a copper colour. 1 is black up to 10 white/yellow. I think ginger is around level 7. So you would have to strip the colour with bleach. If you are deep brown 4,that means bleaching hair 3 levels to get to 7. Truly get a hairdresser to do it because there is a lot of colour theory.
Very informative vedio....thankd
So what your saying is I should go to a salon? Okay I just want to be sure I understand 🤣🤣🥰🥰✌
🤣
To be honest, I'm confused... Do I need to add gold or natural for pre-pigmentation? When and what we needed? I thought that we need to focus on the underlying pigments for each level. Like gold for level 7, orange for level 5, You know.
Hello hair Buddha I have one question when going from blonde to red or dark if I have fashion colors like neon blue in my hair do I also have to strip my hair of the color first
Yes, if you leave a pigment in your hair you will see that pigment in the end result.
@@hair-buddha great thanks for helping me
I'm a 2 and want to go 4 Brown what should I do? Should I bleach my hair ? If yes to which level?or just dye my hair directly?
I need help. I of course bleached my hair all wrong n thankfully I did right wasmask treatments n took my time color is wrong but not “too bad” I now have white hair some light yellows r coming threw it’s short very thin old stylist RUINED my hair with wrong type n installation of extensions she did see n double them before n applied all over nor ore so no ear length dry on ‘em my hair doesn’t grow n I had a mullet Icut lbto do all my own cause it m broke. Newton loo
If your hair is lighter than the color you want… do you start with the roots or the ends first?
Now this is handy. I used a Light Gold Brown. It turned out ginger! Does not suit me AT ALL. Need to go a lil darker.
thx for watching
I have a question. I am currently a bleach blonde (level 10) and would like to be a 6 light auburn. Would my fill color be a 7 natural blonde or 7 golden blonde? TYIA. :)
