      You can say that, but, if Ronny looks from every single angle that we can not see from the video, and he 100% KNOWS the balls are not touching, why should he sit there and say the referee is always correct?
      If he is expected to say that the referee is correct, well that means we live in a dictatorship!!!!!

      it is dictatorship.
      Referees are the one who have the ultimate say on everything. they can listen to the opinion but there is no democracy nor vote happening in sports.
      Referee says they are touching, so they are. and what ronny thinks is irrelevant he must obey. And if he believes there was a great misconduct by the dictator the only people who can do something about that is the 'snooker association' (whoever governs this sport and this championship)

    In defense of Ronnie, it is very possible the camera angle wasn't quite at a 90 degree angle. If the camera angle is off just a hair then the could look touching on the camera but not actually be.
    That said, just looking at the shot itself, they appeared to come back together after making contact. So, most likely they were touching.

Plus, Stephen Lee was not caught agreeing to fix frames or matches on camera or an audio recording device by anyone and he got a 12 year ban plus a huge fine and a bill for costs incurred (which he deserved) but John Fatty Higgins got a slap on the wrist.

    WHY DIDN'T THEY GET A SECOND OPINION? I have heard Ronnie call a foul on himself in crucial situations, so he wasn't trying to cheat. So, as much as he went about it COMPLETELY the wrong way, I trust Ronnie's marksman eagle eyes over the ref's retired tired old eyes. Speaking as an older person myself, I know that nothing on this old classic is as good as it's racing colours days. I'd have asked for a second opinion.

    When they did the close up shots, why didn't they look at it from a 90 degree angle? They had a slight angle on it, so you couldn't see for sure if it was touching ball or not.

  • @adronias
    @adronias 11 лет назад +23

    Technically Ronnnie is correct, as no two objects ever touch. Just their negative electrons pushing against each other. :p
    I think however that the two balls are as close as they can get, therefore by the rules of snooker they are touching.

      The guy is a referee and an ex police officer, I'm pretty sure he's used to hearing this sort of thing and doesn't need anyone's sympathy... hence why he didn't make a complaint and get Ronnie fined, it was nothing to him and him being a police officer in Glasgow, were I'm from, I can tell you for absolute certainty that he's heard way worse. Also Ronnie didn't ask to be anyone's idol and if you make anyone your idol they could NEVER live up to your standards with a spot light on them, if you like someone then don't idolize them because one day you WILL be disappointed.

      Spot in Jezza, Ronnie has no class and disrespects the game, he is though as you say the best ever but certainly not the greatest... I'd give that title to Davis and Hendry, in their generations respectively they changed the game completely and did it with dignity. Ronnie is by far the best but also possibly the worst from other perspectives

    This is why I've always thought Ronnie is an egotist and a bully. Yes, he's a great snooker player but a lot of his behaviour is like a spoilt child. I wonder if Steve Peters thinks so?
    Then Ronnie has the cheek to say he only plays for a bit of fun and not to take it all too seriously. Ronnie is quite damaged I'd say. The definition of a flawed genius.
