  • A dead body was found behind a vacant funeral home in East Cleveland, acting police chief Kenneth Lundy confirmed.
Lundy told 3News via email that the body that was discovered in the back stairs of the building was "badly decomposed." It was found behind 15357 Euclid Avenue.
According to Lundy, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office (CCMEO) was contacted and responded. The CCMEO will determine whether the cause of death was due to foul play. Investigators will run fingerprints, if available, through a crime data system.
On Monday, Lundy told 3News' Lynna Lai that the body was that of a Black male. He was partially clothed, but his face was unrecognizable.
According to Cuyahoga County property records, the building at the address where the body was found was purchased by a company called Shaw's Funeral Home Inc. in 2021.
