This was easily one of my favorite videos you've done. This was so different than anything I've seen on YT. Thanks for a new perspective on grassroots racing. Also nice surprise at the end!
This truck is a gearhead's wet dream, being able to go almost anywhere while having a mobile house, a garage with your cars inside and a place/tools to work on them, this is amazing
@@vgbondarevis there a proper way to back up with a double-articulated trailer? Years ago, I was towing a vehicle using a trailer that had two points of articulation and I couldn't get the thing to turn properly backing up. Wound up unhooking the towed vehicle to get where I needed to.
This was a very interesting change of pace. I've always been a fan of trucks, since the late 90's, when I discovered the Hard Truck franchise, and having enjoyed many hours of ETS2 and ATS. Tedward, I know this is not the main focus of your channel, but if you could review these big rigs every now and then it would be epic! And thanks for the video!
Yeah the comfort is something people often forget to mention. To add to it, here in europe, a lot of if not most trucks have airride on the cab itself relative to the frame so you're isolated from the wheel suspension that needs to do all the heavy lifting. The upside is you can run one of those over a curb and still be comfortable so regular bumps and potholes become effectively irrelevant which means you can just kill miles for hours and still feel good when you're done, but the downside is you can feel wind and turbulence a little more because the cab moves relative to the chassis
It’s crazy to me that just because it has a bed and a kitchen you can drive this on a learners permit. Not that I’m complaining since I’d love to drive one of these.
I'm not a trucker or anything but based off my like 400 something hours in American Truck Sim, I'd say you did damn good lol edit: also goddamn driving the cross bronx (and really anywhere in nyc) in a truck is a hell of a feat, props to you! edit 2: the nohesi thing kinda caught my attention as I'm staff in the official nohesi discord and I've seen nohesi grow in size by like tenfold
Very cool and entertaining to watch! Great to see David and Eddie and their race cars back on the channel! Nothing's better than a group of friends just having fun. Loved the vlog type video...reminds me of some of the old videos from late 2019 and before. Living the dream! Keep up the great work!!!
i doubled checked the account name before clicking into the video. I literally just moved from SC to NC using a u-haul 20 feet truck plus a trailer that carries my lovely manual camry. Watching this one reminded me of that trip.
As a professional truck driver and a car guy, I can confirm this is nuts and really cool if you dont have any previous long trailer / big truck experience... When you do this daily it becomes mundane but it must be such a thrill for the first time... in europe to be able to drive something like this you'd need a C (over 12 ton) license and then a towing (E) license for the trailer, kinda nuts they let you just do that in the US
@@automation7295 Dude I have an E license but I drive C most of the time for my work, when I hop into a semi and remember how to drive I get a bit of an uncomfortable feeling so I cant imagine how it'd feel for a non truck driver.
Seeing you upload a video of you driving an 18 WHEELER was definitely the surprise of the day, yet was insanely interesting to see how you would do lol
What a cool video, different from other stuff here on the channel but turned out soooo freakin good. Trips like these are a dream of mine, you captured it so well. Now, driving the truck during the day on a highway looks like a walk in the park, but watching you drive it in NY at night made my palms sweat, I was glad to see some drivers being cooperative and helping you clear your way through.
I'm a trucker. Good job. Only advice is to set up the turn before you take it. Swing wide before you approach a turn, you will need less space on the other side. Also, keep your spaces closed off, idiots will drive in their with no regard to logic or reason.
Do you have a truck license? Here in Europe, you need a specific category to drive those things. Also, I find it interesting how that Freightliner's steering wheel is a Mercedes steering wheel.
@@acerusea5156 That's both super cool and somewhat concerning. Getting a truck license here isn't cheap, sadly, so I'm glad that you get to enjoy trucking.
@@TedwardDrives that seems insane to me as a european, but it kinda makes sense, your roads are 90% massive, wide and straight so it's not much of a problem. Imagine being allowed to drive something of this size with a regular driver's license in old European towns, scary thought lol
In the unimog vid (at least in the comments) you talked about maybe getting a license and trying out commercial trucks. Guess we finally got it (more or less) :D
@TedwardDrives It's amazing there aren't more accidents. There are so many people weaving through traffic at 100+ mph, then others who are too timid to do anything and cause very dangerous situations. I get constantly cut off and people always take the shoulder. You have to be very agressive and contantly attentive to survive driving in NY. There is no enforcement so people do whatever they want.
After driving a truck for the first time, it really turns you into a child. Especially if you have no interest in trucks. You discover that they are actually fun.

Ted driving a Truck was kinda unexpected
Yet very interesting
Truckward isn’t real, he can’t hurt you
Truckward:
That’s why he’s the GOAT
Yo that’s not
Nice to say that to Ted he needs a a truck to haul his car 😢
Haha, Truckward!
This truck is a gearhead's wet dream, being able to go almost anywhere while having a mobile house, a garage with your cars inside and a place/tools to work on them, this is amazing
Truck Simulator is getting very realistic. Great video!
Great video, and a cool experience. Your next challenge is to back a 53' into a loading dock. After that it's floating a 13 speed.
Then, we'll have him reverse a double articulated 9 axle lowboy.

God, I drove a Cascadia for over a year as a truck driver. Seeing the interior brings me back.
Absolute pleasure to watch. I honestly wouldn't mind if you became a full time truck driving channel 😆

Euro Truck and American Truck Simulator were programs that I spent LOTS of time on when I was growing up! Still enjoy them to this day
As someone who gets really anxious in traffic, the driving in Manhattan at night with that beast increased my heart rate to horror game levels.
Ted being so excited about driving a truck gives me life. Especially as someone whose dad fixed trucks
that set up is insane. the towderhome set up is worth more than most hypercars

My tractor has air suspension on the cab also and I feel every bump.

One thing I love about this channel is seeing you drive on roads I drive on regularly... There's something oddly surreal about it.

This is one of my fav videos, like I thought it was going to be just a truck review at first
More of these! The variety of vehicles in this one video hahah, including the Ninebot! 😂
Holy crap this was cool. Looked like a total blast to get to experience a track weekend with a rig like that. Peak car culture for sure!
I drive 18 wheelers for a living so this was lovely to see a regular car guys reaction to one of these lol
I loved fire trucks and tractor trailers as a small boy. Tedward The Trucker made young me very happy.
Truckward is here
I remember my first time driving a truck, it's the most intimidating feeling ever lol
Tedward now and then comes in with surprising content. Never expected you to drive a freightliner 👍🏾.
We definitely need to see more freightliner content
The Steeringwheel looks like the bigger version of my Mercedes C Class W203. maybe if got a Star badge to Pimp your Semi, onb a german level
He actually did an American Truck Simulator
For you’re info if you set the truck brakes (yellow knob) it will also set the trailer brakes as well

wait you dont need a license for that?
shit here you would also need to grind for licenses like its gran turismo to drive that
Yeah, it's kinda nuts they allow that, you'd think you need a license for towing a trailer. Indeed in Europe, you need a Class E license for that.

Great video! It's crazy when I realized the start of the video was right next to the Framingham exit! Tripped me up for a second!
Damn that was so entertaining, please do more of these kind of vlog-ish videos Ted
Couldn't help but notice how the steering wheel is an exact copy of the Pre-facelift Mercedes W203 C-class. Great video!
It is a Freightliner, after all :)
Freightliner is owned by Daimler iirc, that’s why.
Man, this is life

You don't need a special truck license to drive non-commercial trucks like a toterhome in the states
