That is INSANE how that made that much of a difference. Your car sounded like mine. It sounded like it was ready for the scrap heap. It sounds like new now ! Good job !
This absolutely brilliant!!!
You just saved me hours of work and wads of cash.
Thank you soooo much for creating this video and sharing it.
Thank You very much for your post. I purchased the part from Amazon and a heat gun from Harbor Freight. I think it took longer for my X3 to cool off in order to work on it, than it took to do the repair. My X3 was running rough, stalling out and making that loud whistling noise. Now it's great again. Thank you
Good Job. I knew I had to do this but it helped me out just watching you. Made me feel at ease and your voice about put me to sleep. Cool as a cucumber!!
Karl Barber thanks! I appreciate it
Was dreading PCV removal. I can tell you I think using a heat gun before hacking at it with a small chisel and hammer made all the difference. Tiny cuts and a piece at a time and I got it off with no issues in about 10mins.
Did you use a rotary tool and cut it from the top?
such a great video. I've been going crazy trying to figure out the whistle and you solved it for me. Maybe rename the video so more people can find it. "rough idle" "whistle" etc... I would found you weeks ago
Mike Collins i will add that to the title. Thanks and glad i could help
Hey boss. My 2007 bmw e90 is whistling and when I drop to normal revs 1200 it starts to shake and turns off :(
Hey bro thank you for your advice that's exactly what I have in my X5 , the whistle noise I couldn't figure it out what it was, and thanks to you I figured it out thank you bro......
You welcome bro!
Man this is identically what my car is doing. Great video
Interesting. I've replaced all my plugs, coil packs, vanos solenoids, cleaned the non return valves and replaced the MAF sensor. Still my problem is there, very much improved but nonetheless still happening. Now I'll try this. Thanks!
Thanks for the vid , I've been chasing this ghost for weeks !!
Thanks dude, I did mine today worked like a charm
Umes Bhati you are welcome
This is what my X5 2008 is doing making the whistling sound and i have to stop and shut the car off then start it up and the sound would be gone. I think I am going to try this and see. I even took it to the BMW and they dont know where the sound coming from. I live in Germany and bought the car here funny.. I'll take it to my mechanic and show him your video and see if he knows what you did. keep you posted..
If it whistle, then this is your problem. Trust me! Its a common issue on these issue

Did you end up finding a solution?
Hey man, thank you very much for this video, saved me loads of time and money! Shout out from South Africa
That thing at 11:00 drives me nut. My car makes weird whistling/squealing noise while driving. Thanks for the video!! Gotta spend all day to replace that **** orange thing.
Great video! Only complaint is you're too quiet/mumbly (my issues as well, deep voice). Anyways, this helped a ton and saved me about $500! Thanks
Anthony Thompson sorry i dont talk loud but glad i could help you. You are welcome
Dude, take the freaking nut sack out of your mouth, and quit mumbling! I swear to God, I couldn't hear a freaking thing you said! Don't talk loud????? Hell , you may as well fucking whisper!!!!
@@toddantonowicz1090 The guy makes a helpful video and you're slamming him like that?
Todd Antonowicz bro shut yo deaf ass up. u need to let that hair line go. Talking bout you cant hear bitch get a better phone. Broke ass. ugly ass. Anyways thanks for the help I have a 530 and I cant find the cover on the gasket on mines but I have the same symtoms
really this BMW car case happened in my workshop and this solution was very helpful
GREAT idea putting the screws back in !
Great video I'm half way through my change out atm.
Karl Andrews thanks
Good video...could I tempt to put the gasket sealing around the old vent valve and possibly resolve the issue? In not where'd u hey the crank case vent valve
Thank you brother you are a big help 💯💯
did u fix it? what is the part number
My man, great video BUT, I had to turn up the volume to hear what you were saying. I have the same issue with my 11 328I... will replace the entire valve cover
07 x5 with the whistling problem
I gotta compare engines to see if it will work for me
Check your oil filter cap see if yoyr missing your factory plug inside the filter
Bro u nailed it
dan cane thanks
good afternoon friend, if that valve worked for you, it means that I have the same problem, I want to advise myself before doing it
Do you think the P0012 code or the Vanos problem is what caused the Breather valve To blow?
crazylaughscomedy p0012 code
Hey man thanks for this excellent video, really really helpful. That part is bad on my car to and I was wondering how difficult was it to remove it from it's Base thanks.!
I understood everything you said 100%. What I do not understand is why you used gasket maker instead of epoxy? Just curious.
Chuck Thomas the gasket maker can with stand heat better. I just dont trust epoxy when it comes to high temperatures
Hey thanks for the vid. Is it necessary to replace the breather hose too that attaches to the intake manifold? How can you diagnose whether its the pcv valve or a bad breather hose that needs replacing? Ive got a lot of pressure in the crankcase which has caused a vcg leak. Also some suction at the oil cap. No codes or EML. Thanks
Comprehensive video, thanks!
Such and accurate video. amazing. thanks brother.
Kory Lewis you are welcome
Awesome show !!
Thanks for video, that vent that is next to the coil pack at 1:33 needs to stay in-blocked? No cap on it, right?
Ron Paker yes, it can stay in
Great video. I have same X3 with you. It has idle rough when started up, and sometimes stopped only by taking brake to slow down, idle would be perfect at 800 when fully stopped during driving. The codes are P0171 and P0174. I have cleaned mass air flow sensor and vanos solenoids sensors, but did not work. Do you thing it caused the by the PCV valve?
Did you clean/replace the filters that clean the oil before they go to solenoids?
It’s a vacuum leak had replaced my valve gasket including the pcv and it went away but it seems like a bit air comes out or that’s just how bmw sounds. It stopped idle
Thanks man, great video!
you need to change that oil more often, you can see the sludge when you take the oil cap off
Ed Weigman the owner before me needed that advice. I bought it the way you see it with the issue it was having. I said they never changed the oil but she good now tho. She running like a 2018 lol
Aye men! Thanks a lot!! Seems like I have the same problem. Question .. was it hard to change?
Hey thx for the great video , I have the same problem with my n43 :( you have any idea where I can find one ?
Thank you for the information.
Hi, this is a great video and fix. the only part that i am stuck with to do this work is how does the old CCV come off the existing cover on the engine... did you happen to record and video that part of the task? It would be great if you can share how you removed the old part from the cover - thanks in advance and again great job.
Sandeep Singh just take a flat head screwdriver and lift the sides up to pop it off. Its tabs around the side and mine broke off as well as the piece i showed in the video. The tabs dont matter because the new vent valve dont need them. Just use the gasket maker to seal it.
Thanks - i managed to take it off my car. The next step is to put the new one back in. I do not see in the video but i have the engine cover mounting bracket which is stopping the new one from fitting on - did you remove this bracket in your video before installing new one?
Aweskme fix man thank you so much
What is that part called. My car has been doin that same thing for weeks n I couldn't find it. I got a oil change and that's when it started and I'm burning oil and got white smoke from exhaust thought its was blown head gasket but not loosing coolant
I have exactly the same problem, ordering one now. Hopefully I can get it on without breaking the valve cover.
I know I wonder how that jbweld to the valve cover is holding up. Haven't finished the video but damn makes me want to just do the whole valve cover.
@@mty3606 I managed to get the old one off but it took forever. Dremelled it off piece by piece. It made a huge mess. New one didn't fit on perfectly but it seems to have done the job. If I had to do it over I might just do the valve cover. My valve cover seems to be in pretty decent shape otherwise I would have.
Would this make your car not start and if start w ether and then kept running make your exhaust pipes glow cherry red ?
Deeges909 sounds like a clogged Cat/Converter
thank you man
you are welcome
I replaced the CCV cap on my 2011 328i and still having the same problem. Any suggestions of anything else that could be wrong??
How did you remove the old one? Most people break cut open the old one or saw off the neck.
I pull it off with the tabs that is holding it on. You can pop it up with a flat head screwdriver
Can I use JB to seal it instead of that gasket sealer you have?
RoyTheTrillest it should work. Make sure it can handle the heat temperature of the engine
Thanks for the reply I got the part and currently got the cap off scary shit trying not to break that lip but I got it THANKS for the video my G shit helped .
RoyTheTrillest Good shit!! Its a little work but its worth saving some money
I can't hear what you're saying.
i know its kind of low but the visual speaks for itself
@@youcanfixthat8636 Yeah and with the help of the comments too I was able to figure it out and it worked. Thanks.
Would you happen to know where i can access this piece on my 328i 2009 it doesnt look like its in the same place as your car
Francesco De marinis it should be in the same spot. Take another look
Even though it's a aftermarket part! Is it doing alright vs the original one?
algen gorman the aftermarket part was built better than the original part. Still holding strong
@@youcanfixthat8636 awesome! I just recently bought a 2006 i350 E30 and your channel is helping me out about learning more about the car. Plus even though it's used, it still feels new too me. Also it's my first beamer! Looking forward to watching more of your channel.
I have a bmw 328i 2009 e90. I have the code P0012 . I’ve replaced intake camshaft sensor , clean the 2 vanos selanoid , and changed the oil and new oil filter . But the problem is still there , I’m thinking is the crankcase ventilation? What you. Think?
This video will solve your problem. Trust me 💥💥💥💥
@@youcanfixthat8636 on the crankcase valve is there. Supposed to be. Hose connect to the hose that’s poking out. Of the valve?
@@joshuaperez1187 yes, a small thin hose
@@youcanfixthat8636 where is it connected to bc mine don’t have a small hose
@@joshuaperez1187 i really cant remember if it was a hose attached or not but that part that is bad will cause your engine to shake and cut off. the rubber seal inside is bad
Thanks for the video, do you still have the X3? How is everything now?
jbmaster rosario i sold it to a friend and its still doing great
You Can Fix That Thank You Again!
Great Job!
Does that thing pop
Off , screw off ? Since it’s built in do you have to rip it off and glue the new one on ? How does that work
Wendigo Inc you heat it up and pop it off
You Can Fix That interesting. I was going to replace the whole cover. This sounds way better. Well cheaper and way less time than replacing the whole valve cover. Would you suggest a torch or a heat gun?
isn't there a recall related to the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve heater related to this? The hose in the rear connected to the ccv goes down there. Any inputs would be appreciated. Good video btw.
Nick S no it’s not this at all. They won’t even touch it.
Nice work. Although, im a little confused, i thought the ccv was under the intake for the n52?
There are two different ccv systems. N52 with aluminum valve cover has it under the intake manifold and the one with plastik cover has it integrated in the valve cover
The CCV is under the intake. This video is talking about the Crankcase Breather Valve
not all n52 have ccv some have a vent hose conected to an oil separator conected to the crank case( oil pan )
What’s the deal with 2011 328xi?
Can i turn it on once i put the part back? or gotta wait 24 hours?
Once you put part on you can start it up
@@youcanfixthat8636 so i drived it for about 45 min, didn’t do the shaking anymore when sometimes when i push the clutch is the rom goes high alittle and when i come to a stop rom goes high too but goes down to normal
your info is good, but could hardly hear you at full volume
Right???? Like he had someone's nut sack in his mouth!!!! The guy freaking mumbles!!!!! lol
I replaced mine, but now the engine makes whistling noise when let go the gas pedal.
Did you connect all the hoses back
How is this fix holding up?
Peter Canarelli it is still going strong. No issues at all

Overretarded?
I got that code too! Did you get anywhere? Been a long time since you posted this ^^^
I just did the valve cover gasket, spark plug gaskets because of oil on the plugs. What a pain in the butt...Anyway I recommend if your going to do this job, replace the whole valve cover-comes with that part and the gaskets.
Yeah....and and it's nearly 500 bucks from BMW! Maybe YOU have 500 bucks to throw away, but the rest of us don't!
30 dlls vs 500 dlls just to be clear
BMWs customer service is fucking horrible, man. Change the whole damn cover just to fix that one failing thing? Nah, man.
Bro I need you wya
Sam Odu where u located
Don't be a cheap ass with your bmw or you'll be on the side of the road. bmw requires you at min change the oil every 3k full synthetic or else you change a whole lot more.
I purchased the car like this…..D!CK HEAD! Go take a nap 😴
