If your gonna run an oil tube I would run it off a constant oil supply like for the oil pressure sending unit by the distributor, it works way better than the original design!!!
Good thinkin'. What I would most likely do if I ever put them on my Magnum block. Running factory roller cam seems to be soooo much better than worrying about break-in on flat tappets.
I though Magnums oiled through the push rods...? So i would think the magnum block probably isn't set up to oil that way. I'm looking at doing the opposite: magnum heads on an LA block
Magnum heads on LA block is easy: You will neetd 7,65 inch long hollow pushrods and AMC style lifters. Magnuns oil the heads via lifters and pushrods, not thru the block deck like de LAs do.
Francisco Being I have a set of LA heads that flow over 300cfm using them on Magnum block would be cool. Take advantage of roller cam and serpentine accessory drives. I already have 1.6 roller LA rockers for factory ratio with roller cam too.
Kerry Kinser I’ve got a set of Aluminum Sidewinders that flow 310/209. Full port work done by Larry Smith. Pretty sure those will not hurt power and with a roller cam will make more than an LA block with standard flat tappet. Also have an extra set of standard bore KB pistons and moly ductile iron Hastings rings. With the shorter deck height of the magnum compression will also be increased over one of my LA blocks. What you think 🤔?
Looking forward to your micro squirt install. I am presently building a magnum to put in my 96 BMW M3. Like to keep it fuel injected with the Hughes intake but the obd2 ecu and harness would be a nightmare to splice into the bmw stuff
Prochargedmopar I have a race 340 with w2s this is what i would like, and a 408magnum, with W2s great flow, big cubes what could be more fun with the overdrive and a set of 3:92gears... 91-96 reg cab Dakota. Over 25 years old....hmmmmmm
Putting la heads on a magnum opens up a massive selection of heads & intakes . magnum heads are prone to cracking between the seats, all of them will fail at some point, bad mopar didnt correct the problem & knew it was a problem. Also look at the aftermarket magnum aluminum heads theyre EXPENSIVE. trick flows 190 LA on a magnum now that's bad ass & cheaper then mopar magnum aluminum. I have eq heads with some good port work they're the only affordable aftermarket iron head & not a refurbished factory garbage
93 mag 360 has port for oiling la heads
You actually drill all the way through then use LA cam bearings.
There a solid looking block, Dang it, your gunna make some power dude

Yeah, I was thinking about modifying the Magnum block to so I didn't have to oil through pushrods.

Yeah I'm looking at doing this to a 340. It's a 72 so has smaller valves than a Magnum. The roller set up and Magnum heads should be a screamer
Where did you end up with this interesting idea?
any updates ?
Why are you wanting to put la heads on a Magnum? This will hurt HP

Ok makes sense

Personally I blame squirrels
