I'm addicted to mini books. I make mine using a catalog and slicing down the spine for whatever size I want. I then cover it with dollar tree adhesive vinyl. Once they're all cut to my liking I can use a pen etc and make Mark's on the spine. To give character, I also will use a design from a magazine to put on the front. I also use magazines the same way to make mini mags. No cover needed. Thanks for showing your way. They're just so cute.
@@queencityminis I do remember that video, I forgot about the cd you made and the book mark, I'm glad I watched it again. Thanks, I'll have to look for an old miniature magazine, they have some great mini pics in them.
Hi from scotland... I totally love all your ideas and makes. I'm just starting out on this stuff but living all your work. I have now got a tin with bits and bobs as I see you using lots of different little bits that usually get thrown out but since finding your videos I have been keeping all the little stuff. Keep up the great work. I'm goings to be trying the books tomorrow as it's late here now . Take care x
Love all the stacks. I'd be fighting my own OCD urges to have them all stacked particular ways. The ways you have them stacked is so much more natural and organic in style, I envy that! Great tutorial Shyra, you are an inspiration.
Putting these into easy-to-move clumps is such a smart idea. I really love them and thank you for that! lol! Making them on one long stick of 'interior pages' like that is definitely the way to go. I will try this next time I have to make books! Thank you for sharing!😊
I clicked on the link to these 1/2 scale books from Etsy while I was watching this video, but I couldn't find my way back to the video again straight away, so I ended up making some of these books according to the instructions that came with the download. Unfortunately, they didn't turn out very well as the folded paper strips were too wide for the book covers so I had to trim them to fit. Luckily I found your video again and I'm going to make the rest of the books using your method which is much better. Thanks for this great tutorial. I'm making a Book Nook which is going to be a Victorian style miniature library, so I need lots of vintage books. Cheers from Amanda in Australia
Thank you so much for this video tutorial. I'm making a Book Nook that's 1:24 scale and it's going to be a Victorian style miniature library when It's finished. I've made lots of miniature books to go inside the bookcases, but I still need a lot more, and these books would be perfect. Cheers and thanks again from Amanda in Australia ❤
Super cute🥰❤️ and a time saver for sure... I swere you must be like the mod podge whisperer 😂 are you printing on an ink jet or laser..that makes a big difference. I have an ink jet and the mod podge always makes my ink bleed even when I let the print sit for 24 hrs thinking the ink would be completely dried🤷♀️
Good morning, Queen Mini. Thank you for sharing another brilliant method, with which I shall make tiny art books and watercolor the covers with tiny replicas of modern art. (An Ellsworth Kelly or Barnet Newman should be easy peasy!) Cant wait! xx 📚❤️📚 Quick question before I forget… what was the tiny little light you used in one of your tutorials? It looked like a thin pill shape, I think. And it had no wires.
@@queencityminis ok thanks for answering! I did find one on Amazon. It’s a box of 100 for about 10 dollars. They’re about .375” around. I’m going to try using a Copic marker to tint them and also tone down the brightness. If that doesn’t work, I might try wrapping some lightweight fabric around instead. They don’t get hot, so it should be safe. “Aogist 100 pieces white LED balloon lights” would be the search. They are really pretty bright! Enough so that I put some in the kitchen drawer in case of a blackout. Lols, I just noticed they come in different colors, too, plus warm white. Looks like I bought the plain white ones. The other color options are 16.99 Have a great day! ❤️🙏🏼🌷
I have! I love detailed books like that. It's too much effort to put into filler books for the shelves (since I'm a lazy crafter). These are lazy filler books. I'm glad you reminded me of that video. I'll need to make some fancier books for the Gryffindor Common Room project.
Great video for us beginners. I’ve been a plastic scale modeler for years, figured I’d try something new. How many times have you sliced your finger with the hobby knife? I got three stitches one slicing my thumb open.😂
Ouch! I've sliced myself less often than I would've imagined. One time though I dropped the Xacto and it stabbed me on the back of my other hand. That was bloody and unexpected.
I've been watching one after another. I was wondering if you coated your pieces with glossy mod podge awhile back and now I am presently trying to finish it. The problem is when I use my pastel black to put in shadows the chalk doesn't want to stick. I got some to stick, but most just stays on the brush. Any suggestions?
@queencityminis I had thought when I made the little coffee shop I was going to have it pristine, I put it away and went on to something else. But watching your videos and you talking about adding interest, I started making it like a well used shop. But then I ran into this issue. I kinda figured you might say that. I sanded the floor a bit and got some to stick....sorta. Thanks. BTW, do you have a fb page to ask these kinda things. I'm just learning so much and have all these questions that come up. I'm about halfway through your videos.

I'm so glad! I absolutely love making minis and sharing with all of you.
you open my eyes again . I have never thought that one book pattern could create in many different items .Thank you for your tutorials
You are so welcome!
Love how you do your books in different heights, widths and depths. It looks so much more realistic!
Yes! I also love every small imperfection she adds, everything looks and feels like real life. ❤️
I agree! It doesn't take much extra effort or time, but adds a lot of interest and realism.
Mini books are one of my favourite minis 💜
They really add so much to a miniature space
Such an interesting idea for a miniature library! Those tiny books look fantastic.
I think so too! Little books are just satisfying
Well that made me happy thank you. I especially loved the glasses on the books.
Glad you like them!
Your minis are so cute. Thank you for all the time you take to make us these tutorials. 🙏🐦❤
You are so welcome! It does take a lot of time but it's so rewarding:)
Adorable, as always. I think it would look good to color some of the page edges gold to make them look 💫 FANCY 💫
Great idea!! I've seen books with gold pages.
They look awesome. Seems like a quick and easy way to make several books at one time. Thanks very much for the video.👏🏼🌹

Such a great tips on how to make them different heights and widths!

I would LOVE to see a tour of your work room!!
Oh no you wouldn't 😆 It's a bit of a cramped mess. I plan to get into a bigger space and nicely organize it. I'll do a tour.

I used to read all the time but got out of the habit. I just signed up for a library card and started reading again a few days ago.

Pastels stick better to surfaces that aren't smooth or glossy. I'd add it before sealing.
