A friendly reminder to all who criticized and found errors in this performance, this is a HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA. This was a fantastic performance and those young musicians should be proud of it. As for the conductor, great job!!!!!
Oh my goodness yes. What an awesome performance.
Fabulous 🤩
Only “Idiotic Perfectionists” would be looking for mistakes, instead of enjoying the Beauty in the music they produced!
Beautiful!
Agreed ! .....Bravissamo !
Those young people should be very proud of themselves. They were great.
Hi ho silver....away!!!!!!!!
They smashed that omg!
They are there for a reason. They are the best in the world.

HI-YOOOOO, ALUMINUM!! AWAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!
Thanks, and I bothering to look
It's a rainy Friday, 13th August 2021 in Curitiba, Brasil.
I am Just an old but proud retired teacher, drinking Bockbier, cooking beans, waiting my Sauerkraut get ready and hearing this Rossini's piece for the thousandth time and loving the way this Young orchestra does It.
People, I really love you, because you are here looking for beauty. You played and heared classical music looking for beauty, but beauty even was inside you.
I ask to God protection and happyness for you who love make music.
Time is running, baby, and you doesn't know tomorrow, so love yourself, love your life and be thanksgiver for life, because life is a gift and I am happy because you exist,
Thanks, Lord, for people so Nice making nice music.
I find it hard to believe this is high school. cause there THAT good. eait, what was I thinking? THERE AMAZING! LOVED IT
Its Pablo. Me too!
It's excellent! Only highschool?! WOW!!
Very much agreed! Some professional orchestras don't sound as good as they do, with the main issue being accuracy of notes, and this high school orchestra nailed it!
I would never have guessed that this performance was anything but professionally done!!!! Well done!!!!!!!!
Having been born in 1938 I was just the right age to listen to The Lone Ranger radio program EVERY Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening. Radio, back then was a rich experience.
This piece of music wasn't actually written as theme music for The Lone Ranger programme, believe it or not...
Are you 86 years old?
When you hear it from the very start you appreciate it even more.
CANNOT DO IT PERFECT THE FIRST TIME, THIS IS AN ORCHESTRA IN PROGRESS. Young people, kuddos!
@5:54 - ...when you realize you first heard this in WB cartoons!
@Olivia V. Which episode?
@Olivia V. Ahh oky thanks
Magi same
the loud is the clairinet
First time I heard this was literally watching The Lone Ranger on VCR with my grandma.
never have i seen such focus and concentration on the face of a percussionist handling a triangle!
Dude always brings his A game - bravo
If he/she hits the triangle at the wrong time, all hell will break loose!!!
@@bobboscarato1313 That triangle player was awesome! And trust me, I know triangle players.
This performance is well beyond any high school performance I've ever heard before - absolutely incredible!
Wherever Rossini is, he will be proud of these guys. Bravo!
This was perfection.
I love that cello section solo in beginning! Bravo!
Watched this video years ago, then went to Dvorak’s 9th symphony at the New York Phil earlier today. I knew I recognized the English horn playing the 2nd movement... and after a bit of thought, I knew where I saw him. Here he is!
Ryan Roberts is now an oboist at the New York Philharmonic.
Bravo! I hope each and every one of these musicians has gone on to big places! And that conductor...brilliant!
Section 1: Prelude/ Dawn
0:00-2:51
Section 2: Storm
2:51-5:53
Section 3: Ranz des vaches/Call To The Cows
5:53-8:26
Section 4: March of the Swiss Soldiers/Finale
8:26-11:45
I am studying this piece for IGCSE Music this year. It is a hard piece to learn let alone play. That was an amazing performance. I was so surprised at the fact that they were high schoolers! They sounded like a professional orchestra. Wow! I bet everyone practices 40 hours a day to get this piece. Congrats to the solo instruments in their respective movements. The whole orchestra deserve way more applause and cheers than they did in this video. This was an utterly amazing performance, a big well done.
im far too late, probably that you've finished your study, but just want to say goodluck on your study
@@arissyazwanaman3211 Hahaa! Thanks man. Well managed to get an A* which is an A+ for that exam board so am hugely happy but, I dropped music unfortunately at the end of the year. :(
@@marleymeow1701 your welcome! :)
Glad to see we still have an orchestra. Nice job, Vikings. - Class of 1990.
11:43 - conductor whispers "yes!"; i.e. We just nailed that performance.
gagago302 Gotta love Swen. She's an amazing teacher, person, and conductor.
I need a front view to confirm this.
it wasn't coming from the conductor
This is great music. I am so happy to see these young people so talented and enjoying playing this kind of music. God bless them.
The guy at the end whispering “yess” 😂 I would too say yes if I could hear this live haha. This piece is so powerful! Love it.
Jumped straight out of my easy chair and proceed to applaud as loud as I could.......Bravo !
If this is a high school orchestra, I am impressed.
This is the sheer joy and cumulative effect that music can have on education and living a life of quality. Community, social cooperation, and having fun...unfortunately public education has been the whipping boy for politicians and a music curriculum just one of the casualities!
It's not just politicians, the radicalization of teachers is what pushed today's education into training young children to hate things like this because it's "too White" or "racist" or "created by the patriarchy". Our youth aren't taught to appreciate the past and enjoy the great things those before us have created. The only schools today which still teach children this music are wealthy schools because the parents pay attention and won't let teachers get away with the garbage that has become public school education.
saturday morning cartoon nostalgia overload loved the performance I wouldn't have thought this was only a high school orchestra
5 solo celli. Wow.
Favourite!
+KoksKeks Are you a protestant? They also believe 5 instruments can play a solo at the same time.
One of the best renditions I have heard.
My first time hearing the full version. The best of Rossini’s overtures in my opinion (but I have not heard them all yet)
MAGNIFICENT !!!!! STANDING OVATION !!!!! AND THESE ARE JUST KIDS !!!!!! BRAVO !!!!!!
Classic music is life, it pushes us forward and we do have our ups and downs but really we are looking for the best. Love form Russian!!!!
I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I GOT CHILLS IN MY SPINE FROM BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!
I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE THESE YOUNG PEOPLE DO SUCH AN AMAZING JOB (PLEASE FORGIVE THE PROUD MOMS & DADS TAKING A FEW PHOTOS) I THINK THEY NAILED IT. IT TOOK ME BACK, WE DID WAGNER'S TANNHAUSER OVERTURE AT PLEASANT HILL HIGH, Ca. (closed) 68/69 YEAR. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK! (I USE CAPS FOR MY VISION, SORRY)
RICK Miller I know, I know. You are alright. You acknowledge a job well done.
This is cute
It's just fine and better for me to read without glasses!
THEY WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL?! That's amazing, such great talent.
It takes a lot to make me tear up. You gize were successful!! Beautiful
Amazine...can't believe those are OUR students and performing in Vienna!! Bravo :)
that's amazing!
This is wonderful playing by the Santa Monica High School Orchestra! Tremendous and well done! I am British and I tend to doubt that this standard could be attained by a UK high school orchestra; I may be quite wrong, but that is my feeling. William Tell is probably the best of all Rossini overtures; an overture with not only 1-2 good tunes but 3-4 of them! I think Rossini would be knocked out if he heard this.
Well certainly the most famous of his overtures
Very impresive... Salute
Excellent Standard for a High School orchestra. Clearly plenty of talent
What a group of young and talented musicians , well done!
A firey Horse with the speed of light. A cloud of dust, and a mighty Hi Yo Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again.
Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear...
Stop it you guys before I start crying again! I am 82 and those words bring back my healthful years of yore and I can't stand being old and unable to perform like my youth. Who would have thought Rossini would write such a piece of music that it would describe PERFECTLY a radio (and TV) program in the 20th century?
HI YO SILVER, AWAYYYYY!
WHO WAS THAT MASKED MAN????
@@mikegross6107 I'm 68 and still this overture gives me chills. I still see Clayton Moore astride Silver going after the villain. Later I saw a live performance with the St. Louis Philharmonic and oh what a difference it took my breath away.
Magnífica interpretación de la célebre Obertura de Guillermo Tell del compositor italiano Gioachino Rossini. BRAVO !!!. Saludos desde España.
i played this piece before in school orchestra. Amazing performance from them!
OMG this was a high school orchestra??? Wow, they were amazing!!! 🙂🙂🙂
God bless all you young, talented people for sharing your musical skills and appreciation of GOOD music! This brought tears to my eyes, not because of the memories it brought forth but because I see there is still hope for the preservation of fine music and musical presentation!
Awesome , just Totally Awesome !!!!!!!!
Bless my soul. A bowl of cheerios and my wool blanket. Sitting on the register with my brother, watching the Lone Ranger on a cold winter Saturday morning. Never lost our enthusiasm for classical music.
Genius who wrote it! Genius to play it and genius to conduct it!
Outstanding performance. Bravíssimo!!!!
Que lindo, que emocionante, que sensacional!
Awesome performance - BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO.
Fantastic performance. And kudos to the videographer and editor. Finally I get to see what I have never seen in any other orchestra video: the ENTIRE ORCHESTRA performing, especially during the most dramatic portions of the piece. It is so enjoyable to see (for more than an obligatory 1 second shot) what is actually making the music we are hearing. It is a thing of beauty, not just for the ears, but for the eyes as well when we get to see the poetic beauty in the motion of the orchestra--which we can only observe when we get to see the ENTIRE orchestra. This is by far the best videography of an orchestra I have see so far, and I have seen many. Thank you!
I would be loudly applauding, that was brilliant!
This was absolutely amazing!! Well done!
I applaud each of you! My life is better because I heard you perform! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your gifts!
I must have watched this 30 times, absolutely brilliant, well done.
Holy moment. This is amazing to watch. The piece is one of the all time beautiful and emotional compositions. This orchestra does an amazing rendition and a joy to watch.
amazingly played and recorded. thanks !
I remember playing this when I was ten - so much fun! This is a great version.
I am elated that so many young people are interested in classical music! An excellent performance too. If there were any flaws, I didn't hear them. Bravo!
Perfecto ! Beautiful ! x
Marvelous job!!! BRAVO!
Great powerful performance, I love it!! FOREVER captured in youtube (as long as youtube is around), I can watch when I feel like it
Brilliant performance! Thank you!
The most awesome music I've ever heard. Wonderful ♥️♥️👍👍
That was absolutely magnificent
I was impressed and then I read their a High School orchestra and WOW WOW they have to be so proud. Bravissimo young people. This is one of my favorite pieces and you younglings were 😍
this is freaking awesome!
One of my top favorite symphonies!
absolutely brilliant.
Since this piece is made up of 4 sections, here are their selective playing times this video, beginning to end (listed in this order):
0:00 - 2:49 Sunrise Over The Alps/Prelude - Dawn
2:50 - 5:54 The Storm (climax 3:56)
5:55 - 8:26 Shepherds on the Mountainside/Call to the Cows
8:27 - 11:43 The Cavalry Charge/March of the Swiss Soldiers
For those of you who like to hear each part individually :))
These young people are fantastic. I have heard two other high school orchestras play these big numbers. I love to see young people perform so beautifully.
11:42 Yes!
Absolutely fabulous 💖💖💖💖
Amazing job- wow!
I first fell in love with it as I listened to the Lone Ranger on the radio ! I too, used to speak the introductory words with the announcer Mr. Striker ( I think ) as the show began . I was very poor and living in a rural black ghetto in Central Texas . We had very little joy except the escapism of radio . Of course, those were the days before television . The days of Fibber McGee and Molly , After school Pottia Faces Life , Young Doctor Malone … and on and on and on . Then came TV ! Those were the days of Mr. and Mrs. North and I Married Joan . Remember??
Such delicacy and contrasting verse. Great performance from them all. Stunning student work-sooo top notch professional a,ready!:-)
Such a perfect rendition of this ouverture
Wow. Just beautiful
Thanks for adding a tuba to the performance!😊
I absolutely L-O-V-E this!!!♥♥♥
Awesome performance!
Bravo! Great performance.
My high school had this as school bell
In a single word........FANTASTIC!
Extraordinarily talented young people...brilliant petformance
Bravo! I loved the flautist and the oboist trading lines.
AMAZING!
As a looney tunes fan, my heart melt when i heard this
The performance is great enough for high school students! Amazing!
A masterpiece!

5:54 my favorite morning song
Technically its not a morning song but its good for playing in the mornings
Can I get this melody on my phone for wake-up?
What’s up duck
sólo un genio puede crear tan magnífica obra musical.
this is amazing guys, I recommend you listen to
First heard this on a Bug's Bunny cartoon. Who says cartoons aren't educational? These younguns done a good job with it.
5:54 - My Favorite Part of all. It's so relax! Congratulations!!!
Melhor execução que já vi em toda minha vida.
this is amazing guys, I recommend you listen
This reminds me of high-school and being in the Kansas City " All city band". They took the top chairs from each high-school in the metropolitan area and trained us for the whole school year to then play at a few big college games and then made a recording. Too bad it was on tape because it won't play anymore. So it's cool to get to see groups like this that remind me of those times I had that year.
Great job!
Amazing!
