Interesting review. Elite is certainly good value. I have been riding Chinese made wheels for a few years now, and there is absolutely no chance I'd go back to western brands. They are so far behind the curve now and 4x the price... I have four disc road bikes and only one rim bike...and I dont have squeaky brakes. My rim brake Evo makes way more noise than any of my disc bikes. My experience is that people who actually take care of their bikes dont have disc noise, and its almost always a quick and easy fix if there is an issue. Youre more than welcome to ride any of my bikes for a day if youd like.
I thought of you & your positive experience with disc brakes, especially the latest gen of Shimano. I still didn’t want to be the guy who ended up with dud brakes or mounts that needed facing. I’m sure a great deal will pop up (especially now) & I’ll be on the disc bandwagon soon enough. But until then, I’m digging these wheels. Plus the bike is so light. Nate’s CX bike can easily take +35mm tires from the looks of it so I’ll eventually switch that over. Though canti’s are probability twice the pain of discs.
@@wkwong80 In fairness, two of four bikes have needed facing of at least one brake mount as well as BB facing...which Im used to. Since that only gets done once, I dont see an issue, personally. I do understand the reluctance of switching, especially for someone who rides road only on rare occasions. Totally get it. If 99% of my riding and training was on my track bike I'd be hard pressed to spend money on a new bike. I see your use case as totally legit and reasonable. For people riding road however, no. This latest generation of bikes are simply amazing and the new groups from SRAM and Shimano are incredible. The big shift here IMO, is the trust in parts from mainland China. They are making some fantastic stuff now, and they are also very responsive to customer feedback in a way that the western brands have never been.
All good stuff. Yes, the trust in Chinese made parts is a great shift. I definitely don't have a reluctance to using them when they come from established manufacturers.
You’ll end up like me and getting vintage Colnago frames on EBay. Primarily because of two things: Steel is real and you just forget looked at like a boss on the classics!

I have a Richard Sachs cross bike. Immaculate condition. It was my Holy Grail bike.
