Personally I think the lore side will be super cool but long term lame. Company said it will be written like 40k in the sense of multiple writers, so what is and isn’t canon will be a headache and the story will never have an end. Which is like damn bro
I've been following TC for months now and donated to the Kickstarter not because I'm a tabletop player, but for the LORE. Mike Franschina, the lead artist of TC, is a brilliant writer that gives lore blurbs along with the art pieces and the world building is sick af. Now, they even have GRAHAM F-CKING MCNEIL himself writing their first short story and lore novel! I am so hype!
Gotta admit, the design of the units is awesome. Love to see sallets/stahlhems being used here and there, and the Sultanate faction has a really cool concept behind. The demonic units also are sick to an extent that GW would never dare to approach. As a WH lore enthusiast (I don’t have the money or skills to paint minis) I like what I am seeing in Trench Crusade.
Warhammer, but Catholic, as a devout Catholic, and WH40K fan, that's legit why I got into this, the lore is so sick. Who doesn't imagine themselves as a zealous, bloodthirsty Catholic charging to the enemy, strengthened by your faith in the Lord and seething hatred for the heretic and demon?
Other religous people should just understand that the entire game was made as a critique of religion. Within a setting where they're the "good guys" the fanatical humanity of trench crusade aren't good people, they're incredibly evil Religious people are fine, and I know you lot also get fed up with the actual fascists trying to invade your religious communities, but I just need to say as such for those people who I know have seen this video and are in these comments: I've had to have this f-ing discussion so much recently, as a load of the fash who left 40k recently (thank f) have forced their way into trench crusade, thinking that it's for them, when it's not. The creators are, and have always been, incredibly progressive. 28mag is incredibly queer supportive, they have women only editions, and tonnes of trans artists who do work for them. Even then, the community is incredibly diverse, you have incredibly progressive atheists, progressive religious people, traditional religious people. People in the community disagree with each other, and the creators, and that's fine (literally exactly the same as Warhammer), but what isn't condoned is extremism, which is now becoming a slowly growing problem I've been seeing over the last half a year You're fine tbh, religious people are welcome, they make the scene more diverse and fun, but hopefully just realise that the game is a critique of religion, still I doubt nay catholic would want Catholicism to be anything like in the game (humanity literally clones "Jesus" to feed people his flesh). But the fash coming over and thinking this game is for them? F off
@@FvoarinYour taking this too seriously, it's just religious christians finally getting some media that represents them, even if it's on a extream setting. Facist wont do shit, but christian orthodoxs, catholics and even protestans? They'll eat it up and probably end up outnumbering whatever original atheist fans that critiqued it, just like 40k when i started to take itself more seriously after the first editions due to genuin interest for the setting of those that like it.
@@Fvoarin First of all, humanity who sides with God are the good guys. They are fighting the forces of hell who would sacrifice children to the alters of Baal or give people the worst diseases that will ever exist. Besides, being progressive is not so perfect either. How about the Mao Zedong or red revolution in China that was thought of as progressive. This shows that yea, Jews like me or other religious people might be a bit extreme, but don't think progressives like yourselves are better or without fault.

Michael Franchina is one of my favourite artists of all time. I remember his artwork for Trench Crusade, that he posted a long time ago. But I had no idea it was an outright tabletop game with miniatures. Michael Franchina makes some of the best art when it comes to demons. Again, rofl, I have nothing but praise for Michael, so i'm super glad that Trench Crusade is trending.
I say competition is a good thing for GW...Trench Crusade is in the same vein as 40k, but different enough to scratch an itch I didn't know I had. I hope it takes off even more!
Catholic crusade WW1 grimdark setting? Sign me up. Hopefully they decide to add more armies soon like Africa, a nordic/pagan themed faction, new world aztec/native American faction, spanish inquisition, etc
I don't see the Nordic pagans fitting at all, every faction follows the same single divine entity. Hence we got the muslims and the Christians side by side. I could see other Abrahamic religions fitting well. Judaic Kazar state perhaps? But anything polytheistic is a poor fit lore wise. I also personally don't think Norse pagans need to be added to literally everything, but that is a personal gripe. You could use Hinduism if you stick to the monotheistic sect within it. Africa on the other hand has quite a few traditional faiths that has a single higher divinity so they could fit. Would be cool to explore that if they do proper research.
@@mormacilI mean there are nordic christians and there was a period of time when they did a mixed norse and christian religion. Maybe I should have put them separate from pagans. Also there’s nothing wrong with a faction that doesn’t quite fit in like the tau in warhammer 40k a little dichotomy isn’t bad. An odd one out sort of faction to break up monotony especially as a bad guy faction because my lord the demon faction are basically the same but slightly re-skinned or straight from W40k. A bit of bad guy variety is welcome
@@Banished-rx4ol Nordic Christians were just Christians. Nordic Christians differed barely from Baltic, British and say Dutch Christians of the time. I did respond mostly to the pagan part. Norse pagans are very distinct from Nordic Christians and the latter are essentially already in the game under New Antioch, like all non-Orthodox European Christians. And I disagree the bad guys are to much like W40K, if anything they just draw from the same well. A certain level of similarity is inevitable and not an issue. And we don't need to go beyond Abrahamic religions to find some more demonic diversity. Manichaeism might be a cool direction to look at and fit better than anything Nordic.
Abyssinia and its christians are already being part of the incoming setting. They are protecting the country against the legions of Mammon that seek to rob all the riches of the region (be prepared to see people accuse the setting of "wOkEnEsS" due the subtle political commentary of that). Also, in the near future, the Hussar Vampires lead by none other than Vlad Teppes will also be part of the setting as part of the "forces of light".
Pretty cool to see more and more people talk about the game. I was pretty shocked when I checked the TC FB group & to see how many people thought the video & coverage from Major was negative.
Whenever something becomes more mainstream, there will always be some push back from fans that are already there. And a MK video will bring more attention to it, so honestly im not that surprised
I think trench crusade recaptures that pre 8th 40k feeling of raging against the dying of the light. Since gulliman came back it basically feels like the imperium can just pull some bullshit and win whenever but mankind in tc has no such option.
Currently all the lore is in one big pdf online, so he's probably wait until there's more individual stories and moments, or else his TC lore video will be the exact same as everyone else's
I love this! This is my favourite style of art. Like Zdzisław Beksiński and H.R. Gieger had a Warhammer baby together and dumped it in Mordheim. Wicked.
The fact that they don’t engage in predatory business practices and actively ban the weird far right larpers from the discord when they become assholes is enough for me. Also the lore kicks ass. I read the new releases with a special death metal playlist i made just for it.
@misterbrit1493 Plenty of people have already covered the topic. Don't care if you don't believe me. Other people have the receipts. They closed their initial discord, and their mods stalked people on Twitter.
@misterbrit1493 You don't believe it? Even though that's what has been happening prevalently across every hobby for the past decade? But you probably think it's a good thing, huh? 😆
I would like to thank you for holding out on the calendars end date. I was able to purchase it in time thanks to your generosity. Now you just have to help me pick which army to play and we really could be best friends
If modding is encouraged, Majorkill could field a themed squad, and sell the minis together with lore images and backstory. It would be a interesting partnership.
You should also check out Lancer, it's like warhammer but technology never regressed and the focus is on mechs and mega corperations that pretty much own the galaxy.
I got into some trench crusade lore and holy shit it’s cool, absolutely love the setting. Paladins are literally clones of Jesus Christ that walk into hell and kill demons and high ranking targets of hells armies. Cannot wait for the lore to be fleshed out more. I love 40k but something about this setting has me SO intrigued. I’m not much into table top (my craftsmenshio is terrible and I’m poor) so I really only get to live in the setting through lore/games/shorts. Excited to see what happens. Edit: hey jerk off hire more painters lol I want my traitor hunter painted (I’m autistic and can’t paint)
Good or not, i think we can all agree that there is atleast something that can compete with GW. Ofcourse it will probably not be as successful as Warhammer stuff, but GW needs serious competition to keep their pricing and quality in check. So even if you dont like for example Trench Crusade, its success would be an overall boon to the general market
I actually think the lore is mid, and even I am supporting the kickstarter, I hope they hire some decent writters to work on the coherence and cohesion of information.
Well we literally have like, the basic descriptions of the setting, how it started, a simple timeline of key events and then whetever the devs throw into discord. There really isn't much to go off of. Though I can get where you are coming from, I just dig how cool this is and want to see what is done with it rather then trying to go for something hyper complex or super original.
@@Goblinhandler i disagree, i believe a sense of ideals and coherence are vital in games like these and they should be working on it non stop it has been 4 months already and we don't have much besides "hell got lose, it is invading earth, crusaders somehow got late 1800's weapons, and muslims are also there doing something we are not really sure of
The best way I can describe the lore is lazy. Nothing about the game goes beyond surface level ideas either taken from gw war games because tc can’t decide whether it wants to be a skirmish or war game, and all the lore is surface level religious ideas. Oh communion is this so what if we had a faction of cannibals, etc…. It also doesn’t help all the art was designed years before the game as random concept art so there’s no coherence to any of the factions because they weren’t designed with any
@@Schlumbuo What do you mean there isn't any coherency between them. Its so obvious what belongs to what and to which of the 7 factions we curently know of. Even the Random art you can find that wasn't connected to any of the factions can be instantly recognisable to which they belong. Also boiling down the pilgrims to "A faction of cannibals" while tehnically right also is just so misleading to what they are or what they do.
YOOOOO!!!! Trench Crusade W! It goes up in the world!!! Amazing to see you cover it Major. Love this universe and I am happy I backed them for a book. It's a great universe that I plan on making a story for. This is GREAT to see! Happy to see you in the Trenches Major.
it takes time to built story and new factions into the ip. warhammer took serval years to make the lore we have today. So im glad to see what trench crusade would be in the future. It always takes time.
My favorite thing about Trench Crusade, is its take on the take of super soldiers, particularly the Communicants. You can't tell me, that a super soldier created by consuming the flesh and blood of an actual clone of Jesus Christ, isn't the coolest thing ever.
For those wondering, the Kickstarter is currently finished. However, the Pledge Manager will be launching Nov. 25th, be open 2 weeks, and you will be able to back it from there if you want the physical models. Apparently the STLs will be released once the PM ends.
Honestly I don't think I agree. Maybe from just how they aren't scared to do much blood, gore and nudity but that more just reads to me that they don't care about how unsightly it is. Like these are actual demons, not some big red dudes that like to hit people with big axes. Honestly this is literally just what chaos would be if they were all one faction and the designers cranked it up to eleven. Also you say its Grimderp but the imperium is way more comicaly evil than anything that people on the side of good in TC really do. In this setting the side of good, even with different beliefs or in fighting, actually act like they are all fighting on the same side against monsters that want them to suffer for all eternity. There is a Heaven waiting for those who endure the suffering of their mortal bodies. There is hope.
It won’t compete with 40k. GW is too monolithic at this point. This will be a cool niche table top game for people that miss the overbearing grimdark old 40k and aren’t interested in the noblebright female custodes future. Basically I’m extremely excited about it.
I don't play 40 k anymore and haven't for over a decade. However i bought the rule book and will be printing these minis and making table top terrain. All the stuff i liked doing from 2nd to 5th edition 40k.
Good video, but saying the models are ininspired is a REALLY hot take! Sure, they have passing similarities to Warhammer stuff, but like... Take a look at them? They're so much crazier and have a unique look.
So the cool thing about Trench Crusade is that its big on campaigns. So in the campaigns you get a map with points to capture and artifacts to try and find by exploration. Oh also just got confirmation last night that Creature Caster x Trench Crusade is happening in the near future! My warband is called the Fallen Stars of Aschstrolos, The Birthing Star
Well, Hell in the game is real enough, but the depiction of the supposedly Heavenly side seems much more ambiguous. The lore feels much more like a proxy war of two alien civilizations than a clear-cut Biblical struggle between Heaven and Hell.
The main problem is, 3D printing is a niche market. Yeah you can commission and pay others to 3D print your models, but it’s not on the scale of plastic sales. It’s been around longer than 3D printing and won’t leave anytime soon.
The Chorister is perhaps the coolest thing I've ever seen, look at that mess! I sure as hell cannot wait to see people's sick painting on these models.
I've only heard about this game because on twitter a bunch of people joined their discord only to be banned by discord moderators since they thought their hobby was being flooded by 'conservatives' lmao. The lesson is that discord fucking sucks. It's good that GW has competition but if it is too pricey no one will buy it.

@@Schlumbuo so, you clearly havent read any lore and all youve done is looked at that one model with the wooden wheel.
@@Slyslug nope I know about the stupid meta Christ garbage, and the whole “you go crazy and die and poop yourself if you pray too good”. I’m just making the point that even on its face with their mini range, tc isn’t able to implement or even understand basic Christian symbology
@@Schlumbuo I think that's kind of the point, it being over the top without trying to 1-1 things.
I, as a backer for this project, can honestly I'm totally sold on it. Not because I think the game play is better, I'm sold on its grim dark themes of a WWI era and their models. Personally, I'm waiting for the physical models and a copy of their lore book.
More medieval fantacy than ww1 really.
Sallets have such an underappreciated aesthetic 😌

I am loving the style Trench Crusade has. The setting feels like a blend between Fear and Hunger Termina with Blasphemous
To be honest, I feel like Blasphemous would Literally fit in Trench Crusade, aside from the fact that there are guns in Trench Crusade
glad to see you cover trench crusade
Competition will breed innovation
Warhammer, but Catholic, as a devout Catholic, and WH40K fan, that's legit why I got into this, the lore is so sick. Who doesn't imagine themselves as a zealous, bloodthirsty Catholic charging to the enemy, strengthened by your faith in the Lord and seething hatred for the heretic and demon?
Other religous people should just understand that the entire game was made as a critique of religion. Within a setting where they're the "good guys" the fanatical humanity of trench crusade aren't good people, they're incredibly evil
Religious people are fine, and I know you lot also get fed up with the actual fascists trying to invade your religious communities, but I just need to say as such for those people who I know have seen this video and are in these comments:
I've had to have this f-ing discussion so much recently, as a load of the fash who left 40k recently (thank f) have forced their way into trench crusade, thinking that it's for them, when it's not. The creators are, and have always been, incredibly progressive. 28mag is incredibly queer supportive, they have women only editions, and tonnes of trans artists who do work for them. Even then, the community is incredibly diverse, you have incredibly progressive atheists, progressive religious people, traditional religious people. People in the community disagree with each other, and the creators, and that's fine (literally exactly the same as Warhammer), but what isn't condoned is extremism, which is now becoming a slowly growing problem I've been seeing over the last half a year
You're fine tbh, religious people are welcome, they make the scene more diverse and fun, but hopefully just realise that the game is a critique of religion, still I doubt nay catholic would want Catholicism to be anything like in the game (humanity literally clones "Jesus" to feed people his flesh). But the fash coming over and thinking this game is for them? F off
I mean, only sometimes... But I see your point!
I mean, only sometimes... But I see your point!
I wish this setting came out 10 years earlier so the lore was more fleshed out
Soon in like... a few years

Isn't the best thing about something new is that you can see it grow?
I’m pretty much giving up on 40K as a hobby and moving over to Trench Crusade. Warhammer is just too expensive, especially since I usually rely on commissions to get my models painted.

Damn, that War Wolf unit's design is crazy good
Hell, they make novels for this setting.
I'll buy them😯.
I've been following the artist Mike Franchina for years specifically because of TC, I did not know that it'll become a game but I'm glad it did
Hey Majorkill! I hope you’ll make some Trench Crusade Major Minis!
Glad seeing trench crusade get the attention it deserves
Trench crusade really reminds me of Warhammer Kill team.
Trench Crusade have brutal and amazing artworks, just like warhammer (and that was the reason to me start playing warhammer games)
Trench Crusade: *exists*
Kriegsmen: *heavy breathing noises*
I first heard of Trench Crusade maybe half a year ago.
I'm glad that it gets a spot in the light.
@ A orthodox style faction drawing would be unique whether eastern european or more Constantinople
If the miniatures costs less than your average kidney stone im sold
How are the Muslims a "random faction" if the portal to hell literally opened right in Jerusalem during the first crusade?
So great that you cover this anazing setting! It has such epic and dark lore
If you made some lore vids of trench crusade that would be so fucking cool
Currently all the lore is in one big pdf online, so he's probably wait until there's more individual stories and moments, or else his TC lore video will be the exact same as everyone else's
I love this! This is my favourite style of art. Like Zdzisław Beksiński and H.R. Gieger had a Warhammer baby together and dumped it in Mordheim. Wicked.

The fact that they don’t engage in predatory business practices and actively ban the weird far right larpers from the discord when they become assholes is enough for me.

Some of their lore is honestly so incredibly cool. There's some serious originality there as well.
All in all very refreshing
Not for me, but i wish them well as an alternative to GW products.
I’ve been following Mike on IG for a while now and it’s really cool to see these characters come to life.
Majorkill is in the TrenchCrusade Train Let's gooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I actually think the lore is mid, and even I am supporting the kickstarter, I hope they hire some decent writters to work on the coherence and cohesion of information.
They can't do much to improve a setting that started off tryhard
Well we literally have like, the basic descriptions of the setting, how it started, a simple timeline of key events and then whetever the devs throw into discord.
There really isn't much to go off of.
Though I can get where you are coming from, I just dig how cool this is and want to see what is done with it rather then trying to go for something hyper complex or super original.
@@Goblinhandler i disagree, i believe a sense of ideals and coherence are vital in games like these and they should be working on it non stop
it has been 4 months already and we don't have much besides "hell got lose, it is invading earth, crusaders somehow got late 1800's weapons, and muslims are also there doing something we are not really sure of
The best way I can describe the lore is lazy.

I really hope you make more TC content. It seems like a really awesome setting and some of those demon models are so awesome
it takes time to built story and new factions into the ip. warhammer took serval years to make the lore we have today. So im glad to see what trench crusade would be in the future. It always takes time.
Not interested. Drama and those who would call me a “Chud” turned me away
Lol k
Thank god warhammer has some good competition. Maybe games workshop will get some sense knocked into them
My favorite thing about Trench Crusade, is its take on the take of super soldiers, particularly the Communicants. You can't tell me, that a super soldier created by consuming the flesh and blood of an actual clone of Jesus Christ, isn't the coolest thing ever.
It's a very interesting take on Holy Communion 😄
And yet most of the religiously motivated fans singing the praise for the game cannot see the irony in such depictions.
The first time I heard about this, I thought it was part of the 40k universe. Definitely gonna keep an eye on it
For those wondering, the Kickstarter is currently finished. However, the Pledge Manager will be launching Nov. 25th, be open 2 weeks, and you will be able to back it from there if you want the physical models.
Apparently the STLs will be released once the PM ends.
The concept art for Trench Crusade is some of the most metal shit I've ever seen.
I was tempted by it, but then a bunch of my mutuals got banned from the discord for no reason
Not to mention their stuff being overpriced af
Exactly, that Kya Vess mod is no good. You know she’s been active in far left and Far right subreddits for mtg and 40K. She just wants attention.
I just hope to god that the community doesn’t become toxic
Good for them. The setting is pretty metal and GW needs a kick in the balls to get things into gear
Trench Crusade: Fear & Hunger going through its own Age of Strife.
Unfortunately the whole thing just looks like they took all the grimDERP aspects of warhammer and cranked it to the max and thats not good...
Yeah I just found out about it a month ago myself found it really interesting too

It won’t compete with 40k. GW is too monolithic at this point. This will be a cool niche table top game for people that miss the overbearing grimdark old 40k and aren’t interested in the noblebright female custodes future. Basically I’m extremely excited about it.

Good video, but saying the models are ininspired is a REALLY hot take! Sure, they have passing similarities to Warhammer stuff, but like... Take a look at them? They're so much crazier and have a unique look.
They literally steal from other brands for their units lmao. The sin eater is literally bazuzo from berserk down to the pose
@@Schlumbuo I've got the feeling that I've seen some fairly Dark Soulsy stuff in there. Thanks for pointing that out.
"Fighting over whos imaginary friend is real" meanwhile, they're literally real..... lol
Well, Hell in the game is real enough, but the depiction of the supposedly Heavenly side seems much more ambiguous. The lore feels much more like a proxy war of two alien civilizations than a clear-cut Biblical struggle between Heaven and Hell.
Really interesting setting, great to see a ww1 theme
The main problem is, 3D printing is a niche market. Yeah you can commission and pay others to 3D print your models, but it’s not on the scale of plastic sales. It’s been around longer than 3D printing and won’t leave anytime soon.
It’s amazing! If you haven’t checked it out there’s a massive lore book separate from the rules that I would highly recommend
