Getting ready to perform this on our 2018 RAV4 65.000 miles. I'm not having any idling issues, just doing it as maintenance. Your video was very helpful. I wouldn't have known to plug the clip back in before turning the key to "on" position and using a stick on the accelerator pedal to open electronically open up the throttle body. Thanks.
forgot to add........"plug the clip back in" @ 5:47
Yes it’s good service to do
Wild. Just might try this or a variation of it. My thought is to disconnect it from the air intake and cover the intake with plastic wrap... Put a couple of terry cloth rags under the throttle body and spray away. It'll still be connected, still open up and I'll clean any stray bits of dirt inside the body.
Thanks for reminding me to reconnect the sensor!
That sounds good but I would just clean it normally before u mess up other things
TKs sir for your time but I believe the engine would not vibrate in dirty throttle body but RPM would normally go down causing engine to go off. Engine vibration may be caused by either old spark plugs, plug coils or injectors however this video carries useful information.
Usully low idle makes engine unstable it cause vibration
Very helpful video thankyou. You opened some clips and clamps didn't have the clear view on camera.
I will do another video down the road
I had trouble removing the bottom clamp on flex hose above throttle body but I finally got it. Now I cannot get the flex hose separated from the throttle body.
Cool glad you did it
Thank you
You are welcome!!
Nice, help me a lot, thanks!!!
Happy to help!
Just did one of mine. The hardest part is that damn clamp at the base over the throttle body.
Yeah
@@RBTheMechanic how much for the special tool to remove clamp?
What is the name of the tool for the clamp at the bottom?
@@johnhefter3815 hose clamp pliers.
Worth every penny.

I will do a video on that down the road but it should be on top if it got it
What is the name of the tool for the clamp at the bottom?
Needle nose player
Hose clamp pliers
Hose clamp pliers. A bit of a trick to use them but a huge help indeed

I also have an other question. Does the sensor need to be cleaned. I saw an other master toyota mechanic said don’t clean it if get dirty it will adjust itself. What’s yr thought bro. Thanks
@@thomas9469 clean it
@@RBTheMechanic Alright Brotherr
I used a dumbbell to push down the gas paddle hahaha.
Good idea!!!
My 2007 Rav 4 has a screen in the throttle bore so that means I need to pull it????
I haven’t come across one of those yet not sure
I want to clean the throttle body on my 2013 Venza V6. It has 76k miles so far and it's not smooth and vibrates terribly in reverse. I want to open the throttle body and clean it, however, I have heard that the throttle body will not fully open with the pedal depressed all the way. What should I do in this case?
Someone use their fingers to open the throttle body (pushing it gently), is it a wrong procedure?
It can damage the throttle
Not at all. Just push it open very gently. Care care nut on RUclips (a veteran certified toyota mechanic) said so. He actually says not to do the way this guy does.
AMD from the Car Care Nut channel is a Master Service Tech and he worked for a Toyota dealer, he says you can gently open the valve with your hands. No need to hold the pedal down with the key in the ON position.
take it off
learn the real struggle of potential idle relean and throttle body relearn procedureswith an ECtB!
It’s not for me it’s for the home DIY viewer they might not be able to I have relearn videos
If you're going to remove the throttle body, you will need to bleed the cooling system, if you don't do that you can damage your radiator driving on the highway.
Bad throttle body placement ....its a shame Toyota .....
How many miles does the RAV4 has
Huriel Garcia not sure but over 30k
I have 32 is a 2018
Toyota Dealership wanted $319.99 to do that on 15K miles scheduled maintenance even though vehicle running perfectly. I told them not to do it.
Robert Petersen wow that’s lotttt over priced anyways it’s simple job you can do it you self and it’s too early at 15k
Wow that’s a lot. The Toyota dealer in my town wants $149.00 and I thought that was overpriced lol
@@RBTheMechanic at what mileage should the throttle body be cleaned
@@Sexy40baby1 every 25k miles
@@RBTheMechanic thank you. Here is one more question, is there anything that can be poured in the gas tank that will clean that part or does it have to be taken apart for best results
T
This isn’t a 2018 rav4, its an older model.
They changed the body style in 2019, this is most definitely a 2016-2018 model
This is a 2018. I have the same set up
This is a 2017-2018 with the radar/camera pre-collision system. Matches my '18's display. Doesn't match my 2015's display.
Definitely a 4th gen
@@thetechlibrarian yep, a 17 or 18... With collision avoidance features.
