I'm glad you are showing it in a much more simpler way for people like myslef. i am a woman who like to learn and do it myself also while saving money. this video was very helpful
I don't understand what kind of people dislike this video. This is one of the best video on youtube. Everything is shown in real life, very clearly, crystal clear visuals, and very good commentary, good lightining and very helpful. Thank you very much for sharing with RUclipsrs. Keep up the good work. I liked your video. Thumbs up for you.
Many many thank yous young man! Excellent job, very thorough and easy to understand. By taking this video and segments I was able to tackle my daughter's alternator, so thank you my friend! Of course it took me about two and a half to 3 hours longer than it took you, great job!
First, good video. I just changed out an alternator on a 2011 Enclave. I watched this video and it helped, A LOT. High points for me was removing the stud with E10 socket. A must! Also was really glad that you showed the parts of the idler pulley. Of course, mine hit the ground and blew apart so it was good you showed how it went back together. Also, I liked how you showed the belt routing to put it all back together. There are diagrams out there but seeing the actual parts made it easier. Now, nothing to do with the video...This is a tough repair. I think I have like 7 hours into it and lots of swearing! Sorry, I am trying. Being an automotive engineer and understanding that there are repair standards I say this. An alternator is a wear out kind of part. You need to be able to replace it without a fist fight. This is terrible. A fail for the manufacturer in my opinion. My hats off to you guys who have to deal with this kind of thing every day to make a living! Good video, thanks!
This video is the best man I got the same exact car and I need a alternator replacement anddd mannn did this video really really help my husband is doing it now we don’t have to pay a mechanic thank you so much you saved our lives this video is the best
I wanna tell you I appreciate your video so much I used your video last night to change my alternator used it step-by-step without this I wouldn't have got it done. 5 star review for me thank you
Bravo. Ty for your help. That e10 socket recommendation saved my life. I wanted to replace the belt while I was down there but there was an additional bracket that would have needed removal and I felt the old belt still looked good. Thanks again
Great job on the video. I literally just came in from doing this. Unfortunately, I did the tensioner first and then found out it was my alternator but this video helped me not curse and punch things. Follow his direction and walk away before things go sour and you'll be good. Nicely done Jabo👍👍
Thank you very much for your video! Followed your steps exactly and was successful in replacing our 2012 Buck Enclaves alternator. Saved a ton of money on labor!! Well done video, spot on steps and easily reproduceable!
Thank you for this video because it did give some shortcuts, but I had to take out both studs and it made it 10x easier to take out! Don’t get me wrong, it is some work! So get ready to have a bit of a fight with that alternator!! Haha!! Once again, thank you!
The way I had to remove the alternator was by removing all 4 a/c compressor bolts (13mm) and moved it forward. Then I was able to remove the alternator from above.
What happens if we changed the battery and alternator and the alternator will not charge. ? What's up with the 200 amp inline fuse on the red alternator wire? How would you change it etc.? Thank You in advance for any help.
Thank you for the guide but you should have explained that you will want the post on the right side on not the left when installing the new alternator. This allows the alternator to swing out and makes easy work of installing the idle pulley. If you use the left one then it wont clear the wheel well and its a nightmare.
I took my 2012 buick enclave to get put on an alternator and was told that I needed a water pump but brought it in with out a water leak . What could have cause that to happen.and if you have a video on how to fix my pump
I just wanted to know what size torx socket did you use? Was that a 15? I am having trouble with that one bolt. I literally removed the upper radiator hose and of course the power steering and a.c hoses.
Hi!! I just changed the alternator....now cranks but no start??? Help please 😭😊 thank you!! I tried resetting the security... still no start 😕 09 Enclave... please help me!!!!
since you mentioned it as if you were the authority... the British pronunciation is N-clave.. the standard American pronunciation is On-clave & last I checked, we gave the British a certificate of divorce in 1776. Otherwise, a good video
Great video, gotta do an alternator for my mom and this was extremely helpful. I see you're using some Icon tools. How are they holding up? I love their sockets, their ratchets need to be lubed a little more and kept tight in my experience. Those flex head ratcheting wrenches, are they Icon as well?
@@JaboTheMechanic thank you I had found out you mentioned it after watching a second time lol best video on this by far and I've went through countless of them. Liked and subscribed
It's funny the "mechanics" have to wear gloves like they are afraid of getting their hands dirty/oily/greasy Ive been working on car/airplanes for over 35 years and find this comical
So you suggest we leave the new parts full of oil smudges looking like we found then in the junk yard .? Shall we leave oily fingerprints all over the vehicle or steering wheel as well .?
engineered as complicated as a new mercedes benz what a piece of sh**** engineering an alternator should be in an are that takes no more than 4-10 minutes to remove. Maybe pulling the engine out of the car would have been faster to reach that alternator. Thanks I wont be buying this car.
61 thousand people changed their altenator easily with this video. thanks bro
Your welcome!

Did mine yesterday, your tutorial worked like a charm! Thanks a lot!
Thank you. Very helpful. Being overseas I have to work on my Buick when any issues come up. And this was one of them. Thank you again

really helpful video. I get my 2012 gmc acadia pulley idler off eaily after watching it
Awesome,...You did a great job showing every detail, Thank you very much,...I just saved alot of money
Thank You!!!!! It went smoothly because of your video. But it was a pain in the butt to get it out! Thanks again!
Great vid on showing me the basics I needed. It'll come off with removing the stud, but it always is tricky.

2023 this video is great just a little complicated that's all but great work

Around 17:45 I started yelling at my kids to calm the f down!! They looked at me like I was crazy! 🤣😂🤣😂
Great video but don’t forget to change your batteries for your smoke detectors 😅 I’m going to rebuild my alternator today just for a temporary fix
Awesome shortcut 👍35 yr mechanic

Brother man awesome job , thank you
this is why you follow a factory service manual when replacing parts. Step by step, slow and easy wins the race

You can use a 7mm instead of the E10 👍🏽

Hi brother I have a Buick Enclave on the road it turn off I don't have I don't have no idea what happened on that if you help me out please

My 2011 regal is like this. Why did they put it in such an awkward spot?
I took my 2012 buick enclave to get put on an alternator
and was told that I needed a water pump but brought it in with out a water leak . What could have cause that to happen.and if you have a video on how to fix my pump
Finally simple!!!!
I hate these vehicles
Buicks are horrible
Me too doing the same job on a Traverse everything is overly complicated
I’m having to fix my mom’s and I’m this close to scrapping it and driving her everywhere myself 😅

Lol that dammm cable
What size of sockets did you use?
For which bolt
To the shop mine goes😢😢
Can this be done without removing tire or jacking up?
It can but it will be very difficult

@11:54 It's not so easy now is it lol
You didn't say what size that torx socket was that you used to remove the studs.
Have to change mine this weekend and I am NOT looking forward to it lol. These have no room to work in whatsoever. Wish I had bought a Honda instead.
But we persevere, I'll get it done thanks to this video. Very well explained and filmed!
