Wiring harness matter. My driver's door got killed in a storm. Body shop replaced the door. Everything seemed OK until winter. Trim level on my car was SEL. Used door came off an SE. Both had power mirrors. The difference came into play during an Illinois freezing rain on the tollway. SEL had defrosting mirrors. SE did not. Body shop had long since sent the old door to the scap heap. But he made good on the repair by ordering a new and correct harness. Problem solved.

Sister had a 2014 I was dedicated to keep on the road mechanically. Ran it up to 210k, and we sold it off last week still running and driving well.
They are comfortable when they run and drive well. Power train servicing is tricky since everything is crammed in there. So expect to pay up when they break. I just did a radiator, 6 hour book time. Power steering hose is like 10 hours. Transmissions go out 100-150k. Coworkers father paid $5500 for a trans rebuild at a trans shop

Okay, so it's time-lapsed... but I'm still amazed at how well you know how these things come apart and go back together. You can do in an hour what might take me three (or more) in no small part because I'd be afraid of breaking every clip and plug. You may have done one or two of these before. Or - "somebody's been here before."

My kid brother crashed into the side of a tractor trailer at 5:30 in the morning in the dark, side of the trailer had no marker lights or reflective tape, kind of a bad set up for the grocery story loading dock blocked by bushes and a wall along the street so the kid came around a corner into basically a wall.
It’s an 2008 Silverado 1500 LTZ with a lift and bumpers. Didn’t damage the frame, suspension, or any coolers or engine components. Just crushed in the hood- driver side fender, and the rad air or support bend and the whole top rail pulled the bolt inserts out. The cost for a hood, fender and undressed rad support in the correct color for a 15 year old truck threw a PRP yard- $1000
Like wow, I could have bought a whole truck for $3000

    • @Cheepchipsable

I wouldn't call it small. Sounds like a heavy vehicle ran into it.
Most of the impact damaged parts were made of metal. Had they all been made of metal they still would have needed replacing or bodywork done on them, which would have cost just as much.
Ironically a plastic fender may have retained it's shape and just needed painting.
