If you want eerie sci-fi, I'd suggest the Stranger Things scores! I've been compiling songs for my MG series (which takes place in the 70s) and I look for songs at or before the time. It's mostly 1960s based cause at the start, it's just barely 1970, so I'm using a lot of 1960s/50s songs for this Then I have an idea for both a standalone prequel and a standalone sequel, the prequel is set in 1955, 15 years before the story starts, and the sequel is set in 1988, eleven years after the story.
Making playlists is my jam! For music, I'd recommend Spaceman by Eurielle, Anima Doloris by Thomas Adam Habuda, No Sleep by the Dark Tenor, MAYDAY by TheFatRat, Tonight We Break In by NerdOut, and the entire ELO album called Time. :) edit: I simply had to add As the Skies Cascade by Eurielle as well
I have a wip that's part anime inspired. So I made a playlist of anime openings and endings for parts of the story and other songs that inspire a chapter, moment, a character's arc, etc.
1 I also listen to music almost exclusively on RUclips. It's just so convenient! 2 I recommend "The Dismemberment Song" by Blue Kid and "Chosen" by The Living Tombstone 3 Not to sound like a nagging mother, but if you think you ave burnout, you need to rest, maybe making a more solid schedule could help even things out that way you aren't always writing or else disappointed with your output?
1. It really is convenient! 2. I’ll check them out. 3. I don’t really have much to do but write. I don’t want to lie around all day, I’m a person that has to be productive or I go crazy 😂 Next week I will be spending most my time building an author site and submitting stories to contest so maybe that will help me reset with my WIP!
i have a bunch of music playlists but i haven't thought about making a dedicated playlist for a book i'm writing, so i might try that. have you tried listening to FTL: Faster Than Light's soundtrack? they're good for space ambient themed music that gets me thinking about space travel and stuff
My book is a thriller about this dude who kidnaps people and forces them to work in the mines. One of the songs on my playlist for that book is that one song from Frozen when their shoveling the ice and snow 😭😭😭

I’ve never watched stranger things. I’ll def check out some of the scores!
Do you plan on using a different playlist for the prequels and sequels?
@@patrick_nilan Yeah, one with music that fits the 50s and before and one with some 80s songs 😄

@@patrick_nilan I'm hooked on most of Naruto's ops and eds
One of my projects just can't be playlisted rn it's so annoying! I might try chatgpt, not a bad idea!
It was a good start to find artist at least so Spotify could recommend other artist
