Great review Sebastian. Comme des Garcons is one of the best designer houses in terms of uniqueness, exclusivity, and having "niche quality" fragrances. Love their creations.

Thank you for this review. Got my rouge last week! Stunned and delighted! I am addicted to Comme des garcons - black (Not the "Play Black"!) A combination of licorice, smoke and birch tar. Very unusual! A "must" try when you have a chance. Merry christmas!

Wow what a review ! After you put all the attributes of this Scent along with your glowing commentary on the other fragrances of this House it becomes a must try for me. The bottle design is unique and probably underscores the investment required to successfully launch a “Beet” scent! Alabama, Sweet Home Alabama. Would love the opportunity to try. Thank you!

New York fan of yours. I am cooking red borscht! I can imagine the addictive quality of that scent. The most unusual I own is Guerlain Mandarin Basilica I bought after your review(I think you bought it in Spain).I love the culinary almost (fresh salad with pieces of mandarin and fresh basil)aspect of this beautiful uplifting fragrance. I may become addicted to this very tempting beet scent(while eating and enjoying my borscht).🥣

What I love the most about your reviews are the detailed and updated information you provide. Also I enjoy the personal touch, like the bits and pieces of your personal story, your life and everyday encounters and things of that nature. I don't have a lot of fragrances with strange notes in it but I recently smelled Musc Immortel Atelier des Ors and felt certain curiosity about the Cypriol Oil. I think that note kind of throw me off. Thank you for another great review and giveaway. Commenting from Orlando,Fl.

Loved the review. I was aware of Rouge's release but had no idea it had a beet root note. I am a big fan of Comme des Garçons and have a lot of their fragrances. They have a lot of weird notes in their fragrances. Maybe the weirdest is the packing tape note in Comme des Garçons Eau de Parfum (in the deformed bottle from 2011). I live in Illinois. Thank you and ZGO for sponsoring this giveaway.

I haven’t had any experiences with cdg, but I’ve been dying to try both Play Red and White, and now I’m interested in Rouge. I live in a rather fragrantly deprived are of Florida so most of my purchases are completely blind and fairly disastrous. That bottle sold me immediately though😩and the spiced/vegetal dichotomy is pretty unique, which makes it worth buying a sample in my opinion. As far as weird notes, I can’t get over the smoking ionic/metallic smell of Radio Bombay. I think I hate that facet of it, but somehow still love the fragrance as a whole. Thanks for your work in the content you create, I’m a chronic lurker of your channel and it never disappoints

Hi! Thank you, Sebastian, for making this new review!! I have never try anything from Comme Des Garçons before! But I would love to! I would like to get a bottle of Rouge, because it sounds for me so delicious!!! As you told that it has a bit of sweet berry smell kind of, and I like the smell of laudanum as well. What is important for me that the smell of incense is not so prominent!!! One of the most interesting scents that I have in my “collection” is the scent of real ambergris. It was not smelling so good for me in the beginning, but now I actually love it!!! I have it in silence the sea from strangeloveny and in my favorite one Baccarat Rouge 540 extrait. I live in Kansas) USA!!!! Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

Great review! This is the first I have heard of this new fragrance. I wear Blackpepper from Comme des Garcons often. It's one of my go-tos. I also like Copper. Rouge sounds very interesting. Not just because of the beet, but the ginger and pink pepper with patchouli is quite intriguing to me. I don't know how strange it is, but different, and that is the Chamomile that is featured in Hendley's Mown fragrance. It is so completely unusual how it is used in that mixture. Like nothing else I have smelled. I am in Washington, DC.

I really enjoyed hearing about the Series 3 Spice frags actually haha. I've been eyeing some CDG frags but hadn't come across the Series 3 Spice frags yet. The strangest note I've come across is a buttered popcorn note in Etat Libre D'Orange's Fin du Monde. I really tried to jive with it but it was just too buttery in the end for me. I'm writing to you from Colorado, and I'm subscribed to your page. Thanks again Sebastian!

Great review Sebastian, I'm very happy that you re-discovering CdG house. They have great scents. I have 10 in my collection, but many more I have on my wish list. The rare note I really like is nettle (bitter green herbal note) , there are only 17 scents in Fragrantica database which contains this ingredient. I live in Europe, but I have shipping address in Ohio.

A while back I watched your review of some Banana Republic fragrances including Dark Cherry & Amber... I was interested to hear your review of that particular fragrance as I'd blind ordered a bottle of it and it hadn't yet arrived when your review appeared. I seem to remember you weren't overly fond of it and rather disappointed. I'm happy to report that I think I like the fragrance better than you did, especially the amber finish after the initial notes calm down. Interestingly, when I first spray it on my skin, I can smell something redolent of cherry but after a couple of minutes I swear it smells like beetroot on me.... This Comme des garçons scent smells intriguing so I'm going to have to find a retailer somewhere that sells it to give it a sniff... could turn out to be my SECOND beetroot scent!!! Keep up the great reviews!!!

What I like about this review is that Comme des Garcons has come up with another unique offering this one featuring beetroot, frankincense, spicy notes, and green notes. Beetroot sounds really appealing since it smells like rhubarb. I unique note that I have on a fragrance in my collection is Castoreum...Animalic notes are always surprising to hear in fragrances...especially when you can't detect them and are just adding a nice accent to the fragrance. I am from Ohio, USA.

Comme des garçons 2 silver bottle is my first love and the reason to dive in frag community. Still one of my favorite designer frag but these frags smell so niche to me, very unique. Strange Inky note mixed with aldehydes smells so good in this frag
Thank you for sharing this news with us Sebastian. This sound amazing count me for the GVWY 😊
And Yes !!! Please review this line if you can including wonderwood, black paper, wonderoud, floriantal and the others with this shape of bottle. I have already sent you an email in the past regarding the review of this line 😊

My pick may surprise you, but there’s a reason for it , it's Noir Extreme Tom Ford . I'm dating a girl from India, and she said it smells exactly like Culfi dessert. There’s no other culfi fragrances available, except of course the ladies counterpart.
Up until recently I thought Comme de Garcons is a niche brand. I was not aware they sell clothes , and accessories. I happen to own Floriental, must try if you like plum fragrances.
    Thanks

What I liked about this video is that you described the fragrance really well by explaining how it smells like in the top, middle, and the base of the fragrance! I don't own a fragrance with a unique note, but from the ones that I have smelled before that has a very unique note it has to be curry leaves! I live in CA, USA!

I liked how you flashed through photos of the ingredients as you listed them. I'm a visual person and it was just cool to see since I haven't actually googled what a geranium looks like before. As for an unusual ingredient, one of my perfumes features cade oil which I hadn't encountered previously. The fragrance is All Good Things by Lush and it adds a powdery/smokey scent. California

Haven't tried anything from them, I tried more from Costume National, so many releases that it's almost impossible to try them all, but I will get there one bottle at a time! I will get a sample of this one and copper they sound really nice. The weirdest note? the intoxicating gasoline note from Fahrenheit, I remember the first time I smell it in the 80's blew my mind! The only thing that comes close for me is Unutamam from Nishane I get some of that Gasoline vibe but it's different. Thanks for the review Sebastian! El Paso TX.

I like CdG, I had wonderwood, I liked it but it has the same negative point as this Rouge, it’s projection isn’t that good. The rarest note I have heard of is African stone, I saw on a DSH perfume. Very nice review, love the bottle, love the color, and would love to win it. I have a relative living in California, please count me in, Regards.

I have tried Copper and Floriental from CDG

Always appreciate when you mention the way perfumes wear. It sounded like a heavy scent but you said it wears light, which is good to know. The strangest note I’ve come across is probably soul tincture, specifically in fougere gothique. It’s so spot on wet soil, I feel like a zombie wearing it. I love the clothing from Comme de garçons but I have yet to try any of their fragrances. I’m intrigued now. Rouge sounds great and I would like to hear about more fragrances from this house! The play between smell and taste that this fragrance conjures sounds interesting to me, as a scientist who is studies olfaction.
In my personal collection, I have a fragrance that smells like a letter, freshly written on paper with an ink quill.
    I live in Utah.

    This perfume sounds fantastic!
I love the way you described the note breakdown and the interplay of some of the notes you get, like sensing out the mix of mint and beetroot, which compliment each other in real life as well.
The most unique note in a perfume I have has got to be from another Commes des Garçons scent, which has a note of sellotape. These guys are very inventive!
I live in the state of Ohio and would love to try out a bottle of this!
    Thank you!

You had me CdG and kept me with beetroot! Now I’m seriously intrigued to smell this. Most intriguing note I have is a toss up between Oolong tea and Sugi. The Sugi is actually a CdG fragrance from their Monocle line, it’s their #3. You should look at that series as it’s very interesting based off woods mostly.... starts with Hinoki, then Laurel, then Sugi and ends with Yoygi. I’m in Texas and I would love to be entered into the drawing!

I like this and all your videos when you review a fragrance because you are so thorough with each one and you explain a note if it's not a common note like you did with vetiver, patchouli, etc. I do get it some of the time but when you get a fougere for instance, I go "so that's what he meant." Anyway, thank you, Louisiana

Lovely review Sebastian! I love all your reviews as they are very informative for me. The thing I like the most about your reviews is the fact that I absolutely trust your opinion when it comes to fragrances, it means that if you like the particular fragrance then I will like it too!
I am a big fan of CDG actually, their CDG2 (Silver bottle) is still one of my favorite scents ever (Lots of memories with that one also)
For the strange note I can point to the same CDG2 which features a note of ink. This is the only time I smelled ink in a fragrance and I actually like it a lot. It's really fascinating that something like ink can end up in your perfume and actually make it smell amazing.
I am from Los Angeles, California! :)

What an interesting fragrance. Being from Ukraine, I have a close (and loving) relationship with beets. To me, the important parts of their smell is humid earthiness, which did not sound like it was a major player in this fragrance, but I am still interested in what they made of it. 1. I liked that you liked this fragrance! 2. I do not know how to define "strange". Maybe, in terms of the least rarely used in other fragrances I am familiar with, I like very much Metal Hurlant, but I do not know if it is strange. 3. I'm in MD.

I enjoyed how thorough the review was. I agree that the smell is addicting. I tried it at Dover Street Market and could not stop smelling my wrist! The strangest note in a fragrance of mine is red seaweed in Beyond Skin by Biography Fragrances (which I highly recommend and think you should review). It’s gorgeous. I am based in New York! :)

Always appreciate your note breakdowns. It's very informative and shows your passion for fragrances.
The strangest note in my collection is Squid's ink note. I love it, but it's a strange and unique note!

Hands down, the strangest note that dominates Art Collection #2 by JACAMO! And that note is Clay! I'm wearing it today! It actually smells like clay not Play doe, that I played with as a child. Sooo unique to me! 💭💖💭💖💭💖

Hi! My favorite part of this review is the intricately detailed description of the various olfactory notes. The strangest note to me in my collection of fragrances is Tonkin Musk, which is found in Maysoon by Swiss Arabian. I live in North Carolina. 😘

I loved hearing about the idea of beet jucie as an ingredient and also how the other notes combined to make the fragrance. I'll keep the vegetable theme going with tomato 🍅 🍃 leaf as one of the most unusual ingredients in a fragrance that i own.

I liked the discussion of beetroot as a note. I just recently tried some beetroot tea and enjoyed it and I think vegetal notes have a certain amount of untapped potential. The oddest note I own is probably kumquat in Ted Lapidus's ExciTED, which I think has also been sold under the name Blueted. I am in North Carolina.

I do love beets. Fan of the few frags I smelled from this house. Weirdest note I smelled was “blood” from Imaginary Authors Bulls Blood. California

I came to know about this unique house from 'Wonderwood'. This sounds so unique, beetroot! And I like lighter perfumes.
Most unique notes I own 'Driftwood'.
Would love to be a part of the giveaway.

I know this fashion house for a long time but have never smelled or own any of their fragrances. I love beets in soup, satay, steam, salad. A fragrance with beets? Now that's cool. About the unusual fragrance note in a fragrance that I own, I would say the note of tomato leaf from Hermes in Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. Personally, I don't like the smell of tomato leaf but for some odd reason, Un Jardin Sur Le Nil smells quite pleasant. It would be great if I could win a bottle from Comme Des Garcons to try out. La, CA here.

Thanks for all of your awesome reviews and for this giveaway! I really liked the incense + vegetal/fruity notes that you mentioned in the review. The most unique note in a fragrance that I have is pumpkin (ELDO's Like This.) Indiana.
This fragrance sounds amazing-Avignon is one of my favorite fragrances!

I don't know about fragrances, but in culinary beetroot is really trendy last 4-5 years. Your take on Rouge reminded me of making, and eating beetroot ginger cake , and enjoying time.
Black Tulip Shay & Blue London i have to say is unusual fragrance. I don't think i know other Tulip fragrances.

Great review Seb, I admire how you manage to inspire and create a meaningful content. It's hard to describe CdG fragrance, I had luck to grab Avignon and 2 Man, I love both of them, It's the reason why it makes me even more curious for this one, sounds really interesting . I believe my most unique/strange note would be something from Etat Libre d' Orange, maybe the seaweed and milk used for Secretions Magnifiques, which goes from disturbing and strange to gross and intriguing. Coming close to blood smell or sweat, bodily, synthetic and organic.. Either way maybe worth experiencing. Regards from Europe, if i am lucky to win one, would manage to find someone to pick it up from Miami.

What I liked about the review was the uniqueness of the fragrance you were reviewing, along with the very detailed way you presented it. And then, there's the enthusiasm;-D
The fragrance I've come across with the strangest note has to be Six Scents Parfums' #087, with its listing of an "Engine Motor Oil Accord".
I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

Of course I know Comme de Garcons, famous designer brand , I like their clothes and shoes , especially collaborations with Converse . "Girl" I find to be a really good one , leaning masculine. The name is a bit confusing in my opinion. I'm talking about collaboration between Comme de Garcons and Pharrell Williams.
Most unusual note, and fragrance i have is maybe strong raspberry wine in Bohoboco Red Wine Brown Sugar.
    Beautiful draw ZGO and Sebastian

What caught my attention is the elephant in the room - beetroot in a fragrance? I'm beginning to have an open mind though about strange and unexpected notes in perfumery because I've found some real gems. The strangest I've come across is quince which I discovered in Casamorati Dolce Amalfi. It's shockingly good and one of the best Xerjoff / Casamorati fragrances in my opinion. VA.

I enjoyed hearing how CdG was able to take an odd accord like beet root and turn it into something appealing. I think one of the most unusual fragrance notes is a tennis ball accord used in Imaginary Authors The Soft Lawn. I live in Maryland.

I liked everything about this review. Honestly, I love every note in Rouge. Beets are one of my favorites; they are such an interesting combo of dark and earthy, and bright and sweet. The perfume with the strangest scent combo I own is Night Flyer by Olympic Orchids: banana and wet earth. It's very interesting... Oregon

I love eating beets, never would have expected it to be in a fragrance though. Super cool! I'm a big fan of rhubarb in fragrances so I think I might like this one a lot. The connection to a church piqued my interest as well, I like that mysterious vibe. The weirdest notes I've come across in fragrances are usually those of the body like blood or milk, specifically from ELdO's Secretions Magnifiques. So gross but so interesting. I'm in California!

This sounds incredible! The strangest note I've come across in a fragrance is pistachio in Sarah Jessica Parker's Stash. That fragrance is by far one of the most unique ones I have in my collection. I live in Pennsylvania.
