Hey! Did you hear in the video I'm giving away a KTM Duke 390 for free? Check it out here: yammienoob.co/ Also, tomorrow is a head to head video with those two bikes. Don’t miss it!
I got the 2019 MT-03 last September as my first motorcycle! I love it and I’m sure a lot of other people will love it too! I’m a woman who is 5’5” and it’s very comfortable for someone who’s on the shorter side. I got the Ice Fluo colour as well
I started riding 4 years ago with an MT03. Dig the looks of this 2020 model. I moved up from it, but hearing the engine in the video brings back so much good memories, it makes me want to buy it again. Fun little bike!
Mt03s are very good bikes! Had 2018 mt03 to get into biking, now on the mt07 never regretted starting with the mt03 as its very forgiving bike that teaches you all the basics.
Even when you're zipping along at some good highway speeds you can tell it's smooth on both ride and vibrations. Engine doesn't sound stressed. This bike is a hit for me.
I agree with the "Motorcycles are emotional". I wanted my first bike to be a naked. Preferably an MT-07. But I sat on MANY MANY bikes to check fit and feel. I wasn't even interested in Yamaha cruisers when this dealer mentioned in passing that he had a nice Yamaha Bolt that I might like. This man was the bike whisperer. Once I saw the bike I had to have it. Once I sat on it and started her up, it was love. I felt like a different person sitting on it. It was unreal. The chills I got when she purred as I left on the test ride were non-stop. My Bolt is like my soul mate. I can't stop staring at it and life is just better while I'm sitting on it. I still REALLY want my naked as my second bike, but my Bolt is the second half of my better self. In this case, I think the bike chose the rider.
I had this same experience with the Bolt. Although I was pretty sure a cruiser was in my wheelhouse, I too tried many a seat. The Bolt just felt right, and after purchase I feel it was completely the right choice. I sit on it during my lunch breaks sometimes...
Going to check one out on Monday. Been looking for a smaller ~300cc motorcycle with abs and this seems to fit the bill. Already checked out the rebel 300, and as comfortable as it was I'm worried the cruiser life would leave me feeling bored(also the quote that I got from the dealer had SO much in dealer fees... I could have literally bought a rebel 500 that I checked out at another dealer for what he quoted me!). Not a fan of the regular sport look, so the mountain of ninjas that seem to be everywhere just isn't doing it for me, either. Hopefully this is the one!
@@gagbum I have my new MT03 with only 130klms on it so far.OMG - I love this bike,loads of torque,loads of style,buy one,mine is great.P.s.I am not dead,this is a live reply,LoL
Just bought one of these a week ago. I absolutely love it! I'm a seasoned rider but a shorter one at 5'4". This motorcycle fits me perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much for your review. I've been anxiously awaiting for some reviews as there were hardly any, except European, before I bought it.
the MT-03 and R3 may have the same engine, but it is tuned different from the R3, by tuned differently on the ECU in case of the MT-03 it is tuned to have more torque/tuned to low-mid end torque while the R3 is tuned from mid-top end
55 with 36 yrs in the saddle. Adding one to my garage. A few tweaks to the intake and exhaust, power commander and some better brake pads will make this a great ride for backroads chasing
I'm 5'7" and 250 pounds...I love my MT03...4th gear has good torque on twisty roads up to 50mph for me. 5th gear for hilly/twist roads up to 60....6th gear for me does not have any torque I'm sure it's due to my weight. 6th gear is only good for flat highway cruising at 60mph+....Also I replaced stock throttle tube with an R6 and made a huge difference.
Was going to get cb300r. But as soon as i saw this and the way it looks it just blew me away. The front is just beautiful. The other thing that sold me to this bike is the standard abs, gear indicator and the price. Honda will charge you extra for abs and cb300r doesnt have gear indicator which i was planning to buy an aftermarket. Im a beginner so these are very important to me. Just got to wait for this Corona to pass and i will make the purchase. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
thank you for this video. I have JUST purchased this bike (it arrives in a few days) and this is also my first bike. This video was really informative and it reassured me that I have bought the right bike to learn on..
I got lucky and was able to buy this bike like the first day it came out in the us, its my firts bike. been riding to a few months and i really like it, put almost 600 miles on it already
I know this video is a year old, but this is the video after doing a ton of homework that led me to buying my first road bike that isnt a cruiser. I cant wait till it comes into the dealership.
i bought last years model (it been in Australia for about 5 years), put a small bikini wind shield on it. Haven't ridden for 10 years (aged 49 yrs).. Its a ripper bike. Can easily do the ton and more for you folks (160kmh here). I know the Mt07 and CBR 650 have more Hp ... but really how often can you use it??? This ripping little bike can do it all.. have already completed the great ocean road route and man it was beautiful coming out of Lorne Victoria through the hills. Will do it again before we go into lockdown ! Can't go wrong with an Mt 03. Take care everyone.
Hello from Paris Yammie ! Awesome videos man. I like equally the mt-03 and the duke 390, but considering the reliability and the difference price tag wise (here in Europe) I think the mt-03 is gonna be my 1st bike.
Honestly, for a biker it takes just 5-10 seconds of the very first sight of a motorcycle to judge it, whether to consider it or not. This motorcycle is just one of them.
I wasnt sure too, looked it up, you can clutchless shift by having pressure on the shifter and letting off the throttle quickly, basically it just goes up into the next gear
It'd be nice if the engine had a cross-plane setup like the MT07 and R1 to sound different and more aggressive. Most of the parallel twins sound the same, like the Kawasaki Ninja 250, 300, 400, and 650. Part of the reason why I looked at the MT07 and SFV (SV) 650.
i like when you do the review this way... staraight to the point a lot of knowledge easily absorbed because you dont talk too much of unnecessary BS jokes! Lol.... seriously this was perfect! learned a lot without being annoyed ;) good job keep it up...
Currently ride a 14 street glide and an 18 mt09 going to buy a crf450l 100% based off looks. I’ve always wanted a super moto but have never been interested, it’s just such a gorgeous bike.
You said the head light is small I noticed it too. How well does it work when it's dark? If it puts out great light that's more important than just good looks .
I'm 6'4" 230# in gear, started out on dirt as a kid but my first street bike was the vf700f, i moved up to liter bikes and have owned a Superhawk and a second gen Aprilia Tuono. I love riding them but lately Ive been getting into the 400 size range after having a goofy day on a CB-1 in the Oakland hills.
maybe dropping a crossplane into it and giving it a bit of cc bump might make it better, especially in the torque department, maybe making better as a track bike if someone really wanted to
Both the Kaw Z400 and Duke 390 makes childplay out of this bike that has the quality feel of a kids bike. If the Z400 or 390 Duke would have existed in your R3 days you would not have become a yammie fan boy with this MT03.
Really trying to decide between this and an R3. I had an R3 in 2017, sold it and ready to buy a new one. I just also am intrigued by having a new bike that I’ve never had before. Anyone have any tips other than the seating position and lack of windshield? I ride both city commute and mountain roads
I'm considering getting a first motorcycle, and if I go street only instead of dual sport it would be hopefully be between this and a Z400. I think this looks better, but the headlight assembly needs to be a little bit larger, its looks kind of like a tiny head on a large frame.
@soapfanaddict well indonesia is one of the largest motorcycle buyer, this is also maybe the reason most of companies like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki got Indonesian words as slogans Ex: Honda = One heart/ Satu Hati Yamaha = Semakin Di Depan/ Always Stays Ahead
I like the headlight concept but I feel like its too small, I feel like it would look better and more bad ass if they made them a bit bigger like on the MT 09.
Thank you, I have been curious about that bike and from your info it does sound like the ultimate commuter bike. Also as I expected it sounds like my new bike the Ug sport from Simba automotives only thing is that I am envious about the lighting system on that MT- 03
I’m roughly 5’1 so I’m pretty small. Do you recommend this bike or the Yamaha R3 more? I’m undecided on which to get for my first bike because they both seem amazing and look beautiful
Also the CB300R has led blinkers, tail lamp, headlamp. It's nice to see that Yamaha decided to bring the MT03 in North America, the headlamp looks better than the 07, 09 and 10. Still like better the look of my CB300R but this one has the right engine. Honda should pump up the 286 to 310, bit more power always is good. I do 90mph with the CB and it's enough to do all most need. Great review 👍
Does it have the r6 throttle tube upgrade on it!? If not you should definitely look in to getting throwing that bad boy on there! You eill be presently surprised! It gives you a very nice zip on your throttle power!
While I don't _completely_ dislike it, I much prefer a classic looking round headlight similar to the Honda CB300. Do they make a replacement for this?
sure thing, i was in this situation when they announced the mt03, and i was about a week away from picking up a 2019 r3. i loved everything about both bikes but since i've wanted the r3 for so long, it was hard to go around to the $600+ cheaper option. what i did (and what i would recommend you do as well) is to go out for a demo day at a dealership for one of the bikes and really get to know it, maybe you'll fall in love, maybe not, but the point is to try them out, see them in real life and go with your gut. hope you have fun on whatever bike you choose though. (the r3 is my personal favorite and it makes you feel like a badass and i would recommend it over the mt03)
Wheelie Machine my first bike was a 2015 R3 and I can say that it really is plenty comfortable. It’s not like 600s or 1000s with aggressive position. I also currently own a 2015 fz07. If you want the race ride get the R3, best of both worlds.
99% of the time you're gonna be riding the bike decently. Getting the sporty position for that 1% of time isnt really worth it in my opinion. I go out on my MT09 from sun up to sun down some days while the super sport guys can only manage an hour or two.
Larry House it also depends what shape you’re in, I ride my 2003 zx9r for hundreds of miles at a time. My friend and I rode our super sports from Pennsylvania to Chicago in a straight shot. I’m also 20 and go to the gym everyday. To each their own but the R3 isn’t a super sport and it doesn’t have an aggressive seating position.
Bro.. I can't decide between ktm duke 390, mt 03 and honda cb300r what do you think about which is better in quality, fuel autonomy, comfort,lighting..?
I really dig small displacement bikes. I have a z125 and a vitpilen 401 in my collection so far. Looking for a another small displacement or 600cc bike to add next
Yammie Noob, thanks for the great review on the MT03 - I've been waiting for one to come out. Keep up the great content...heck..maybe I'll win one of your give-away bikes...one day...Hint Hint....my 50th birthday is coming up real soon - April 12.... just saying... God Bless!
Papa Yam!!!! Request of 390 Duke vs Kawasaki z400!!! Those were my top two choices and I ended up going with the Duke!! All wise Papa let me know if I made the right choice!!!!
How’s the MT03 in an uphill ? Is the torque enough for beginners? I am riding a KTM Duke 200 and I feel it doesn’t have enough power in uphill rides. I will appreciate ur opinion pls.
Been waiting for you to review this. Still can't decide if I want to pull the trigger on one of these once I get the cash. Not completely sold on the looks, I like the headlight, then I don't. I think I'd swap it out for a round one.
All the Ramen🍜 on the Sky 07 is arguably a beginners’ bike, but I think that depends on how you ride too. I came from riding around in my dad’s 22hp scoot and recently purchased an MT25. 35hp feels scary at first, but you’ll forget it the next day. I think most beginners can deal with 60-ish so long as you’re gentle with the throttle.

A good comparison would be the Mt-03 vs Cb 300r.
As the owner of a CB300R, the Honda wins
James on looks alone I would have to agree...but the MT seems to have the edge on power.
As the owner of an mt3, the yamaha wins
sadly cb300r is severely underpowered

The Indonesians release this bike way way back in the end 2019 under the name "MT 25", with a 250 engine

Intake, exhaust and tune will take care of that, and the mt03 looks and handles better than the z. Its the smarter buy
Can’t decide between r3 and the mt03 I want the comfort ergonomics but I also racey riding position any advice guys?
sure thing, i was in this situation when they announced the mt03, and i was about a week away from picking up a 2019 r3. i loved everything about both bikes but since i've wanted the r3 for so long, it was hard to go around to the $600+ cheaper option. what i did (and what i would recommend you do as well) is to go out for a demo day at a dealership for one of the bikes and really get to know it, maybe you'll fall in love, maybe not, but the point is to try them out, see them in real life and go with your gut. hope you have fun on whatever bike you choose though. (the r3 is my personal favorite and it makes you feel like a badass and i would recommend it over the mt03)
boringrelic thank you! I will definitely try them both.
Bro.. I can't decide between ktm duke 390, mt 03 and honda cb300r what do you think about which is better in quality, fuel autonomy, comfort,lighting..?
mt03 bro for the quality and long run
@@MotoEnz hello bro!! Thanks for comment!! I have a Duke 390 since 2 years! Is a good bike also!! Thanks and you'r R3 is a good bike too!!
I am 5,7....couple of weeks ago, I test ride a mt15, i got to tip toe abit.
I wanna get mt03, wondering the preload adjustment would help
Awsome video keep it up 😄👏but im confused which one is better Duke 390 or MT-03? Which one should i buy
I use to live in BeeCave for a year. Moved back to SC now. Trying to find what bike is best, this one or the r3 I’m thinking this one.
Love ur vids
Love your reviews! Can’t wait for the duke 390 review. 🤙🏽
Nevermind single piston duke just make a review with kawasaki z400
Im stuxk between this mt 03 or the xj6n could soemone pls tel me whats a better choice.
God Bless!
It's a really neat looking bike but could be improved like you mentioned in other earlier or later videos reviewing this bike
Would you say learning to ride in the Austin area is a lot worse than other areas? Given how bad the drivers here are
I wish they put that dashboard on the mt07, the cockpit view looks so nice on the 03
Papa Yam!!!!
Really im on a gs125 and i have no issues with hills
Been waiting for you to review this. Still can't decide if I want to pull the trigger on one of these once I get the cash. Not completely sold on the looks, I like the headlight, then I don't. I think I'd swap it out for a round one.
@Mad Max the mt 07? Yeah, I've been eyeing that too. Specifically the 2018 in intensity white. But I fear it could be too much for me as a beginner.
All the Ramen🍜 on the Sky if you’ve ridden a 250 dirt bike and can handle it a 07 should be good
@@Johnny-tq9no Only thing I've ever ridden was a Kawasaki Eliminator 300.
All the Ramen🍜 on the Sky you can buy one once the corona virus check is released.
What cc is this? I really want to start riding, I know barely anything bout bikes, I want to get a Yamaha 125 any tips??
This is about to be my first motorcycle
MT 03 or CB 300 R for a new rider? Thanks 😄
would this bike be good for me? I am 6'4 and around 230. thanks!
