    • @billclinton6040
      @billclinton6040 3 года назад

      HR departments exist to protect the company from legal action by its employees for example wrongful termination suits. They are also a witness to all these interactions, that way an employee can't claim harassment where it's just the boss's word against the employee's word. The mistake employees make is assuming that HR exists to protect and help the employees. They do to an extent in that they provide outlets for employees to report harassment, ethical violations, whistleblowing, etc. But, again, this is only so that the company can prevent costly legal action. So put every employee through mandatory sensitivity training requiring signing statements, etc. That way when an incident occurs the company can claim compliance, a culture against harassment, etc. and minimize any liability

  • @LastFractionZero

    I love the "security" argument.
    No one is asking for the schematics showing the architecture of the chips themselves. They're asking for schematics showing the architecture of the board the chips are installed on.
    If a chip is vulnerable and software that interacts with that chip connects to the internet then that vulnerability can likely be exploited from a remote location.
    If there, somehow, was a vulnerability related specifically to the board's layout (rather than the chips), exploiting it would likely require direct physical access to the board.
    Tracking down who had direct physical access to a board is as simple as asking who the owner gave access to. That is far from the difficulty involved in tracking down someone remotely exploiting a device because they can do that from halfway across the planet without anyone having to put their device into that person's hands.
    This is the kind of bullshit that relies entirely on the people it's being said to having no idea how electronics work.
    Next they'll be telling everyone to worry that the person breaking into their house is going to install a rootkit on their desktop instead of just stealing the desktop.

      @LazorVideosDestruction 5 лет назад +9

      @@pluto8404 This isn't just referring to schematics. As Mr. Rossmann said, he couldn't repair someone's MacBook because Apple doesn't supply the chip which failed. Not to mention that some of these companies are against reverse engineering and will threaten lawsuits.
      I personally feel that the right to repair is extremely necessary. I don't like the future we are heading into where our technology is becoming disposable. It's honestly a waste of money and, in some cases, a waste of material too. A company SHOULD be obligated to provide schematics or replacement parts simply because the consumer deserves the right to have their expensive technology repaired.

      Its more like the parts become unavailable (Not allowed or can not individually buy unless licensed) and software is unnecessarily made to stop installing not "certified" replacement parts..Even things like batteries Look at apple products for an example.
      How about cars today and from the past? Common repair items like belts and oil was easily accessible (Edit To reach in the vehicle)... Now manufactures make everything cramped in place that you sometimes need special equipment just to do basic repairs. There is no reason to do this other then to stop self repair/maintenance. I even see manufactures removing the spare tire and jack in newer cars... I guess they can't have you doing that yourself now..better call someone

They don't hate electric they are just too expensive for what they do and most people don't buy them, they are more expensive to produce sell and to maintain. The laws I'm referring to are the ones requiring him to have information on repair available as well as parts sold or a manufacturer producing and selling those parts provided and not only to his own dealers and mechanics to everyone. An automaker has to provide detailed documentation on the vehicle for repair purposes as well as parts for said vehicle to anyone who wishes to purchase them, Elon has fought very very hard to avoid having to abide by those rules because he makes all the money on warranty repairs and most of the money on out of warranty repairs because he provides the only places to repair, sounds a lot like another "tech" company that needs to be slapped hard with some rules to follow.

      he just starts getting louder and louder like thats going to give him the win... still, we need both sides to find a balance, he really didnt like my view that, if somebody writes code for a game, they should be able to keep key portions of that code proprietary at least for a limited amount of time....my main reason for this as a mature gamer(not a kid anymore anyway), we have enough problems with hackers/aimbotters/etc in multi player games as it is, no closed isnt ideal, but, open makes it far easier....like hacks on private WoW servers vs pubic...its piss easy to get around private server protections despite the private servers using open source protection options built specifically for the purpose..
      and, i dont think louis would have an issue with chips being locked down, if he could buy the chips to install... its the fact you cannot get them, and if you can get the chip, you cant program it because you cant read a chip to copy it.. that kind of crap...
      real pita...a perfect world, people could just live and create and do their own thing, without worry of profit or people being assholes and ruining a good time with aimbots/hax/etc...
      whats worse...there are games i even support hacking/moding/etc.. ones where it dosnt hurt other players, and just enhances the fun....removing grind.... thats only there to create profits via real world money purchases....pita...

    The independent repair company's could setup a certified training and certification program just like automotive mechanics. It doesn't guarantee that you are going to get a good mechanic but make it a way to find the good ones over the scammers.

    • @chettonex
      @chettonex 5 лет назад

      What entity should regulate those certifications? Could someone pay to get certified? IMO most certifications are a scam.
      I can certify as an Apple expert and let my non certified employees do all the work.

    • @mousetoad7040
      @mousetoad7040 5 лет назад

      ASE Certification IS a scam itself. It costs a lot of money to take each test and it constantly expires. When I got a 2 year AS degree and apprenticed at a dealership for 2 years, I was promised to be Chrysler certified at the end, having passed all their tests. That never happened as Chrysler changed their policy and said the students needed to pay for the tests retroactively. Our instructor told us not to pay as that wasn't the deal when we enrolled. He said our employer will pay if we didn't. But I didn't feel like being required to be at work for 50 hours/week but being given only 25 hours of flat rate work, standing around the rest of the time while the technicians with seniority got the better jobs (even they started moonlighting as business slowed and people chose independent shops). Also Being paid $14 flat rate while the customer paid $90 (at that time) encouraged me to open my own shop. Never got that Chrysler or ASE certification, never advertised, word got around that my work and prices were good, had more than enough business, quit for health reasons. My instructor encouraged us to become ASE Certified in as many areas as possible, but said it does not prove you are a good technician, but rather a good test taker. He knew a "Master Mechanic" that maintained all the ASE Certifications that was one of the worse mechanics he ever knew, but he sure could pass those tests, just could not troubleshoot! But we are expected to have the certification and spend the money. I suppose it does give incentive to keep up with current technology, but a good technician will do that anyway..
      "It doesn't guarantee that you are going to get a good mechanic but make it a way to find the good ones over the scammers." No offense, but that statement is contradictory. Like saying "it doesn't guarantee you'll get a good mechanic and not be scammed, but it is a good way to find a good one and not be scammed"? Maybe you are trying to say it won't guarantee you won't be screwed, but reduces your chances? Maybe, maybe not....
      I have another story about a very good CPA who took another CPA exam and failed, (passed all the technical stuff but failed on "communication".portion... Seems that exam is used to limit the number to keep the salaries high of the existing ones when you look into it........
