when that cam gear explodes the insides come out, and works it's way to that sprocket , i have seen that wear that sprocket out.

Highway robbery for a short block from Stihl Southeast! Gotta do what you gotta do

The short blocks for the 6,7,800's is silly expensive. The part alone is almost 2/3 of the unit. I couldn't see handing over that kind of money to fix a blower in used condition.

It’s a shame parts are so expensive they seem to hold up well, but when their time comes it’s cheaper to just buy new. The only good news for me is that as a homeowner I’m betting I’ll never put enough hours on mine to matter much.

Hi Richard, fantastic channel. Been watching for over a year, just curious on your thoughts about the 056 Magnum II? Recently picked up one, cylinder & piston are absolutely unbelievably pristine! SEM coil so far appears bad, I'll dig a little deeper to verify. Bought from an estate sale, bottle upon bottles of Amsoil littered the garage shelving, and blue tinted fuel found in saw!
Would you recommend tracking down the Stihl Sem coil or would the Proline do justice?
Couple month or so ago you did a video on carb rebuild, and found 'red' tip needle. In case you're still wondering, there are now or never were 'red' tip needles manufactured by either Walbro or Zama, it is just the beautiful chemistry that occurs because of the wonderful ethononic fuel our government forces us to consume. When I tear saws apart, I take pictures for the customer to review. I have some pic's of carb needles 1/2 red &1/2 black!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. No matter how much I think I know, when watching others show their skills, I always realize how little I know! Keep up the fantastic work!

As far as the coil, I don't have any personal experience with the aftermarket SEM. Check the wires, and ground on the original and hopefully you'll get some spark. They were decent coils compared to the Bosch coils. The 056 mag is a cool old saw.

What makes it impossible to replace the bearings on the Br's?🤷‍♂️
It's obviously easy on the other 4mix engines👍

Have another look around 0:56. All 4 Mix engines are the same. Drive gear pressed on after the bearing. As far as Stihl is concerned, you can not buy the bearings for the 4 Mix equipment. They will sell you a fully assembled crankshaft. Bearings pressed on and the cam gear installed. If you could make a video and post it on how to get the cam gear off the crank, I'm all ears so to speak.

Dirko only …! I have replaced that bearing and gear easily, use the right puller and pull the bearing and gear off at the same time..!

I'll give it a shot with puller. Dirko is good, but it fails over time just like most gasket makers because it not rated for gasoline contact. These clamshell motors have to have a "gooey gasket maker to fill the larger voids. I use permatex anerobic sealer when bonding two machined surfaces. It's rated for gasoline contact and will outlast most gasket makers.

@@richardflagg3084 Dirko is what Stihl uses , you know that, so far I haven’t had any failures with it, I find that if you put it on thinly but enough to provide coverage it works better than if you apply to much and squeezes out every where providing a place for a blowout so to speak, also you must have every surface absolutely clean and dry with no oil residue at all . Another good sealant is Honda Bond , you will not get a leak using Honda Bond, yes it’s harder to separate if needed but it is a 100 % sealed job when done. 43 years in the business from Automotive to Heavy Duty Diesel to Small Engines gives you the experience of victories and failures to know what works for what circumstances. I watch you and can tell you’re like me , trials and time have benefited us in our field of choice in profession…!
