Totally agree. The hype is crazy. He is coming from a team where expectations and fan knowledge was minimal to an absolute hockey hotbed where expectations are Stanley Cup or bust!
Having ludicrous expectations for anyone coming here and shetting on players who are far better then they realize when they are here (until a year after they are gone) is what a large % of the Oilers fan base does best. It never changes, they never learn.

Better hope Celebrini isn't Bedard, he might be -70. Bedard was -53 if you extrapolate his stats over 82 games. Literally the worst defensive forward in the history of the league. And somehow some idiots gave him rookie of the year over Brock Faber. Absolutely shocking how bad the guys doing the rewards are on their hockey sense. Kucherov should have been the MVP as well. They shit the bed on that one too. If Celebrini is only -15 to -20 that would be great for year 1.
We just need a stay at home defenseman. Oilers now have crazy firepower, and Bouchard will get 90-100 points as a defense man. Oilers defenseman need to be good at defense. Eckholm is the only one who really checks that box. Nurse is brutal, and needs to go. Coffey has helped the team play better defense wise, but we need one two more guys, then oilerd are pretty solid contenders.
He was claimed off waivers and refused to sign an extension. He was going to be traded. Why risk playing him another season if he gets injured and then just walks at UFA. They'd be dumb not to get assets for him right away
All we need him to be is a classic defensive minded defenceman with a bit of size if he ends up being able to produce on a better scoring team than the sharks than hey all the better, the floor is pretty low and the ceiling is pretty high
Emberson has played 30 NHL games. Keep the expectations realistic.

Well, broberg played 80(ish) and st Louis broke the bank for him so... 🤔

played 30 nhl games and is in his 4th NHL organization. If they guy was that good these teams wouldn't be giving up a young dman that easy.

JD Young has no idea just how bad Nurse is. He'll make any defensemen look bad atm.
Yep. He's decent against bad teams. A disaster against good teams.
Did the Oilers ever make the playoffs with Taylor Hall on the team?
Nope
LOL why would the worst team in the league trade an early 20's defenseman? They wouldn't if he could play.
He was only a -4 on a terrible defensive team. That’s pretty remarkable. You’re Clueless
