  • Monster Mansion is an adorable dark ride at Six Flags Over Georgia. Riders board small boats, travel through a mansion, and are greeted by over 100 monster animatronics. Guests are invited to a picnic, but they accidentally end up in the marsh. Plus this ride has one of the most infectious theme songs of all-time!
The ride originally opened in 1967 as the Tales of the Okefenokee before being converted into Monster Plantation in 1981 and then Monster Mansion in 2009.

This ride solidified my feelings towards Six Flags Over Georgia as the best six flags park I've been to. It just simply has more character and charm than the other six flags parks. Maintenance and food ops were generally a lot better as well.

in my experience ops and general park maintenance have been on an upward trend. went there on a dead weekend recently and they were still running 2 trains on almost everything, and i didnt notice any uncleanliness to speak of. the topography and sort of classic feel gives it good atmosphere (by six flags standards, mind you), but i still say fiesta texas has them beat there. that said, sfft has not answer for this ride, and it's maybe the best and most unique ride experience of any ride at any six flags

@@cookimaus1yeah let’s pretend history didn’t happen. “Plantation” is a style of house. Has nothing to do with racism or slavery.

@@inlinechris uh, yes it does. Even if it is just a style of house I'd argue the history behind it is still there. Besides it’s similar enough to a mansion

This is one of my favorites. You should have seen it right after Goddard refreshed it. Was spectacular.

This ride's original version was Tales of the Okefenokee, which was part of the influence of Splash Mountain, besides SOTS. In 1980, the ride was torn out, not because of political correctness, but they needed something fresh, and something fresh was Monster Plantation, which operated from 1981 to 2008, it was then given a makeover as Monster Mansion in 2009 with fixed animatronics. Also, the horn always scares me.

Dude today I rode Kondaa and let me tell you, this ride is a masterpiece. The amount of ejector on this thing is out of this world, backrow is the best on this ride because you get thrown out of your seat on the first drop with insane airtime that continuous forever and this is combined with insane laterals. Each hill on this ride delivers quality airtime. This ride is also really intense in all the parts (I started to gray out on the outward bank) overall a worldclass coaster, although it did broke down a lot in my visit.

I wasn't a huge fan of sfog when I went in March, but this ride was the one thing there that really stuck with me. It honestly is up to the quality of a classic disney dark ride.
And six flags actually bothers to maintain it so thats something

What a great unique dark ride! However, I wonder why people are using flash lights in such a ride. It results in really bad pictures and kills the whole atmosphere of the ride.

@@OgreJoe oh, then I take back my criticism. :)
I once rode "I Corsari" in Gardaland - which is a very atmospheric pirate themed dark ride with ambient lighting. In the same boat, the father of a family had to take pictures of every room with flashlights. I came back later for a re-ride - guess what was happening again. A shame.
