In my opinion that I'm sure is shared by many others, for this type of playing there is no one on earth past or present that even comes close. Tommy has set the bar at the very top, and his incredible ability as a musician, and performer is something that all others must aspire to. IT SIMPLY DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER EVER................
God I love all the "Saturday Night Shuffle" versions... Thanks Dad for bringing me into Guitar playing, with Marcel Dadi, Merle Travis, BB King, Chet Atkins, Jimi...RIP.
When I first saw Tommy I found his flamboyant style of playing a bit OTT ... but I just watched this again and totally got into it, this guy is the boss. He's totally committed to pushing his talent as far as he can go. Jaw dropping guitar ability, I think I'll watch again now!
gotta say, this CASS 2009 show is my favourite show of Tommy's on YT. The intermit setting (you feel like you're in the audience) and Tommy in the finest playing form. It just ticks all the boxes for me ;-) And, you can tell most of the audience have their jaws on the ground through most of this (I know the feeling). Simple awesome.
Been following tommy for years even when he was playing back here with his brother Phil. I too can watch this time and time again. I might just learn this little beauty. Or I'll add it to the numerous TM tunes I love.
Why is he so good?.... he answered that question at the tail of the video. " I could play these tunes a hundred times a day"... and more than likely does!
Hi, Just to confirm, yes, the guitar is a Kirk Sand with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, and yes it was plugged in an AER Compact 60. The sound I captured was a mix of the acoustic and electric sound.
With Tommy Emmanuel, there is no such thing as a fluke. His mind is as precise as a steel trap, in regards to the layout of the fretboard, so if by some quirk of fate he happens to hit a 'wrong' note. it will be worked into an off key riff & chord procession that will seem like a natural jazz break invented for the occasion. The work of a guitar genius.
Tommy is the best guitar on the planet. I have seen some Classical?Flamenco players that were beyond awesome, perhaps they were better, but unknown. As far as any guitarist in pop culture in this century/last, he is the best.
TE just goes and he gets there a dozen different ways. He doesn’t just play what he’s studied. He composes while he plays. You don’t hear him change chords or reach for notes. He plays hard. Chet didn’t but both don’t shruggle at all to reach chords or positions. It’s just music. It’s Zen.
By T. Emmanuel's own admission getting the thumb of the right hand to be as independent as possible to the other fingers is the hardest part of it all. And then you also need to have long enough fingers to put your thumb of left hand on the top string. If you watch him carefully he uses his left hand thumb quiet often.
does anyone have a tab or a video, preferably a video lesson, of how to play this song. I absolutely love it and would love to learn how to play it. Thx for any help, it's greatly appreciated.

tommy is best guitarist on the world
Tommy is better than the best guitarist in the world, or even better than that.
ql du 13 also the strongest. Amazing strength. Shake his hand sometimes. He doesn’t play a guitar. He beats it.
jean felix Lalanne is also better than the best guitarist in the world, or even better than that.ruclips.net/video/LfdYM7KlX7o/видео.html
Seeing him live was the most amazing show I've ever seen!
Tommy plays this style absolutely the best.. no one can touch tommy and never will! Even the writers, his dynamics and emption is so unique
I totally 100% disagree. Tommy is very versatile and flashy but this piece is far better played by Damian Pineau.

Tommy plays Merle and he's playing Merle's "electric arrangement" on the acoustic. Love his playing, how it just flows from his fingers.
Awesomeeeee Thanks for uploading !! ;] !The best!

Pricing: start at $10,000 for Brazilian Rosewood.

I love Tommy's sound and tone on this video: that guitar has a warmer sound than his Maton, anyway, both guitars are great. Thank you for the upload!
this is so much fun to watch, Tommy is fantastic
tks for sharing
Love this one and play it over and over BUT I do love them all Tommy
Just watching Tommy play is almost as good as listening
I am going to learn this song ... one day. Guitar sounds great too. and yeah Tommy what can I say.
And he's not even playing his usual Maton guitar(s), so it doesn't really matter what guitar he plays. It just works!
It's all in the hands. 😎

Such joy!
Waymon Vickery's enthusiastic air guitar and hooting with joy pretty much sum up this great clip. "Mercy!"
Phenomenal et majestueux ! Great Tommy ☺☺
Great musical presence, just born to play. : ^ ))

Anyone who plays every waking moment from age 2 could do this easily.
