      Not trying to be rude, but if you are catching anything 3 foot or over in Fresh water, it’s a big fish. Not understanding why you felt you needed to point out that it’s “small” unless you are saying they get bigger, which is true.. You won’t find many gator gar 8 feet and larger as much as you would 30 years ago. People killed them off and still currently kill hundreds of them each year.. Even in protected areas like the trinity river.
      There are people who travel all over the world to catch a gator gar.

    I really want to get out and catch Gar but I have not found any bait stores here in Spring. You had a video on where to catch carp for bait was it the Buffalo Bayou?

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  10 месяцев назад

      Most lakes, ponds, creeks and bayous hold bait fish. Just trial and error to find the right holes at the right time

    Damn, I got tired just watching you reel that huge Gar in!!! Nice job and awesome video!! I caught one this morning here in Florida but not nearly as big, mine was 22". Still put up a nice fight!! I used a chicken heart because they stay on my hook well and various fish (and turtles) seem to go for it!!

      @@BitesandStrikesFishing I use 15-20lb braid with a 15lb mono or fluro leader. I catch smaller fish (2-4 lb fish.... bass, tilapia, bowfin, blue gill and catfish....) I just started using baitcaster reel rods besides my spinning rods!! I picked up fishing a few months ago after having been away from it for many years! Moved to Florida last year and now I'm hooked on fishing again!!! Thanks for the video!! That was quite a workout!! And of course I'll subscribe!!

    How do you store your carp? And how long can you have it stored in the fridge?

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  6 месяцев назад +1

      I try and catch my bait the night before and keep it on ice until the morning. Otherwise I bag it and store it a deep freezer. I take it out the day before need it and let it thaw out

    Is the Spinfisher worth the extra over the Fierce?

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  Год назад

      My personal opinion is no UNLESS you plan to do saltwater fishing. The Spinfisher is sealed and rated for saltwater. But the Fierce is cheaper and I can cast it further for some reason.
      The Spinfisher does also come with 4 live liner settings, where the Fierce only has 1. But they are both adjustable

      @@BitesandStrikesFishing what do you mean by four settings?
      Also, Fierce vs. Kastking Sharky

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  Год назад

      @@ocshaman7323 the live liner switch has 4 positions allowing different drag resistants. The Fierce just has the 1.
      I have a KastKing that I like. But the quality it not near the Penns. It will take down large carp and catfish but I was very nervous with it the one time I hooked a big gar.
      For the price the KastKing is pretty good but you don’t want to go chasing trophy gar with it
