+Captain Rhodes Haha, not gonna lie... I do love impersonating Dr. Claw (along with a variety of other characters). But in this particular case, sharing his true face with everyone is far more important. Glad you enjoyed it though!
Actually... I kind of like that face for Dr. Claw. if I was the exec who okayed it though, I would have suggested an optional mask that resembled the MAD mask that you could put on him too. I still remember the episode where he plays a game with his eastern counterpart, who also wears a mask, so I naturally assumed Claw had one as well (anonymity for the Big Bosses, even when they meet face to face, ya know?)
+Kalebfenoir Yeah, if he came with some kind of half-mask like Shredder from TMNT, I'd be totally cool with that. I mean, he doesn't need to look like an alien or anything, but he definitely could've looked far better.
Honestly I wish Dr Claw had actually looked like that in the "Inspector Gadget" movie from 1999. So much more badass compared to Ruppert Everett's flamboyant pretty boy persona.
Great reveal! I missed that figure somehow! I always assumed Claw had a breather or mouth mask like Darth Vader, or Sub-Zero, that gave him the crazy voice. Oh well, guess it was just cigarettes! A partner and I used to sculpt WWE (WWF) action figures long ago, and when we did Kane for 'Ripped and Ruthless', we got to do him with a removable mask, before anyone had seen him that way. They hadn't even planned to do it, my partner just did a killer likeness, and everyone went along with it for some reason!
+mrdandy Yeah, maybe Dr. Claw just has throat cancer from smoking too much, which is pretty scary in its own right. That's awesome you used to work on the old WWF figures, btw. Would love to see some of your sculpts!
I was wondering if you'd get to the SNES game, because that's where I first saw his face. Thanks for mentioning it, too! I gotta say, Dr. Claw's face is the epitome of the old axiom, "I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that."
+Boonehams Yeah, the SNES game is how many people first saw him, as most didn't even know about these action figures. Still, considering how long we had to wait to see his face, it would've been nice if Dr. Claw looked more interesting, or at least had a cool face mask like some viewers have already suggested.
+Roger Barr's Amazing RUclips Channel of Wonder Agreed! I always imagined a half-mask sort of like Kano from Mortal Kombat. Like, whatever that messed up his hand also messed up his face. I thought it'd go well as a contrast to Gadget -- two diametrically opposing characters who are also alike (both cyborgs).
Roger Barr's Amazing RUclips Channel of Wonder I say this toy is just a red herring. They're still keeping Claw's face a secret by using the face design as a cover-up.
I like how Dr. Claw actually has two identical gloves whenever he swings both hands around. And yet the toy and every other versions only has the one silver “claw” glove.
Frank Welker would be happy with what you did. He is the busiest voice actor in Hollywood. In my opinion, Welker is the best voice actor ever! More people should know who he is.
Oh man. I was googling "Dr. Claw's Face" at work and the thumbnail from your video popped up. I went, "OH SHIT, IT'S ROG!" My brother introduced me to I-Mockery circa 2000, maybe. I read pretty much every article on the site up to a point back then. A standout memory is the article about the little quarter machine ninjas of varying neon colors, which I collected as a kid. Every now and again, I still log on to check in on you and read your updates. Glad to have come across you in the wild, brother.
I remember seeing this in the shops and tilting the display box every which way to try and see what Dr Claw’s face looked like. This also dispels the myth that Chief Quincy was Dr Claw.
I had this, and was always confused by it. I always thought that I never got to the point in Inspector Gadget where Dr. Claw's face was shown, or that I missed the episode. I can't remember wether I got it from a friend and didn't see the box, or if the version of this toy where I am from just didn't have the mystery label. Or maybe I just don't remember, boy this was ages ago! Pretty nostalgic!
There was a special episode of the original cartoon where Dr Claw's face was revealed and he was wearing the "cat" mask. My brother and I couldn't shut up about finally seeing his face for about a week. I've not been able to find a copy of the cartoon episode to reference here unfortunately.
Well, I have my life-long question just answered. I was always wondering who or what Dr. Claw looked like. Question has just been answered. Thank you and take care sir.
This statement is true; due to extensive syndication on various television networks, "Inspector Gadget" remained a popular and recognizable cartoon even throughout the 1990s, despite its original run primarily being in the 1980s, thanks to continuous reruns on different channels.
I was told that they did show his face once. But it was one of those episodes if you missed it your out of luck, cause after that the episode was deleted from existence
I used to watch this show faithfully as a kid back in the early 80's. I recall only 2 episodes which showed Dr claw from the front. In one of the episodes a mad agent is standing in front of the chair. So again all you saw was claws arms sticking out. But in the most revealing episode you saw just 2 yellow glowing slanted eyes against the pitch black chair and the arms. So if there was an episode that actually revealed the face then I missed it to! But those 2 episodes I mentioned stick out in my mind as being the only 2 in the original cartoon that attempted to show his face.
I never owned the Dr. Claw action figure, but a brochure for either Toys R Us or World 4 Kids spoiled the surprise for me. They were advertising those action figures and they had a tiny picture of the Dr. Claw and MAD Cat figurines amongst all the other toys in that set. You had to squint, but you could clearly see what he looked like.
I'm guessing these were later action figures, because I remember having the original Inspector Gadget figure, and it was a big firgure. But yeah, I refuse to acknowledge this Dr. Claw. This is non-Canon as far as I'm concerned. I always imagines him a bigger fellow, given that his arm seemed quite imposing. 80's cartoon villains were always cool.
+Vebinz Yeah, the original Inspector Gadget figure was a larger puppet style one, with actual clothing and a variety of gadgets you could swap out. This smaller line of action figures were released in 1992, well after the TV series had ended.
anyone remember that 90's Batman TAS episode were they introduce an extremist vigilante called the judge and it turns out to be twoface? I always imagined doctor claw would look similar to that with the judges wig a shadowed face and yellow/red glowing eyes.
I am a latecomer, just found you looking for Inspector Gadget history. I always imagined that Dr Claw was a Darth Vader of sorts. We saw his claw hand and heard a gaspy voice. I assumed that in some past, he was injured in some Inspector Gadget mishap and swore revenge.
+James D White Thanks! I'm a big fan of the classic Boglins sculpts, and have a handful of 'em still in their lil' crates. The packaging with the bent bars makes them all the more appealing.
Dude, loved the Dr. Claw Voice....NAIIIIIIILED IIIIIIIIT!!!!! Thumbs up dude! Ohh and....I'm with you....Am a Huge Antagonist fan, the Action figure and Game Face was .... " Whaaaaaat?"
Don't hate me! I can see how the logo does in ways match his face/hair. I remember being a big fan of the cartoon as a kid but they ended up repeating it too much coupled with the fact I had a VHS that I was always watching to I grew to hate the show. In the same way I now hate the pokemon cartoon. It became the same thing over and over and over. Its still a fond memory in ways. Thanks for the video and Thanks for actually opening that figure up!
It looks like the mad scientist from the intro to Robot Chicken. Spot on voice of Claw BTW and thank you for satisfying my curiosity. You know you might be the only video out there that actually shows his face lol Idk if that face is canon or not now but again thank you.
As a Kid I always imagined he'd look kind of like a professional wrestler (I think due to his beefy arm and deep voice). I figured he'd be bald except for a small mustache and would have small red eyes. I didn't think he'd look like a monster since the other bad guys can see him and don't act like anything's unusual.
My mom always thought he looked like a middle-age guy with a military haircut or something like that, I unfortunately saw the live action movie before I saw the cartoon so I kind of pictured him looking like the actor from that movie
Just subscribed after seeing you on screen junkies, awesome channel can't wait to watch more :P, Loved you on there btw always so funny and such an amazing fighter to watch!
+Tj Dagenais Thanks a lot, TJ! Appreciate you subscribing and supporting me on Screen Junkies. I'll be on some more of their shows this week, including TV Fights today!
neat, I was just having a big awesome conversation about what a great crossover Inspector Gadget would be with Lupin III. This further discussion of an old cartoon we remember is welcome. At the very least, Dr Claw's face DID look like something those animators would draw. One just hopes his neutral expression would have been more menacing, and the HERRNNGHH face of the figure would only show up when he's been thwarted.
+Kairu Hakubi Yeah, I could totally see Dr. Claw making that expression... I just think they could've been more creative with his face after all those years of waiting to see what he looked like. Makes me wonder if they ever drew up any alternate concepts for his look; I'd love to see 'em!
He should’ve looked like Donald Pleasance’s Blofeld from James Bond, because the character was originally based on blofeld from “from Russia with love”
Dr. Claw is so totally the real original human of inspector gadget you can totally tell the face features and everything. and it makes a lot of sense to as to why dr.claw ever tries to hurt Penny but he goes after inspector gadget
In the action-figure tie-in, yes. Dr. Claw turned out to be old man with a white beard. I have actually seen the show since it ran on CBS in 1992 about 32 years ago (and various "safety tips" on PAX Kids), but I do remember the moustache rather distinctively. I do know an episode that featured Gadget with a moustache throughout (and there being no explanation to it). It may have been the pilot, but I'm know for sure as the airing dates and rotation schedule don't necessarily follow any rules when it comes to non-linear series like IG. IIRC he later in the series used the facial hair as a rather childish disguise during missions. It aired on Nickelodeon, The Family Channel and was in Syndication again a few years back. The bastard spin-off, Gadget Boy & Heather aka "Goo Goo Gadget" was rerunning on Toon Disney. It's aired on Nickelodeon for almost thirteen years from 1987 to 1992 and again from 1996 to 2000 and on the Family Channel (FAM TV) from 1992 to 1995. In my area it aired on Saturday afternoons from 1991 to 1992, during the brief comeback in the early '90's.
With that face, Claw looks more a cliche army Sargent than a menacing villain. I thought he was a mutant or a cyborg, and Inspector Gadget was the cause of his deformities. That explains why he holds a grudge against Gadget.
Those would be my Super Naturals Ghostlings! You can check out the article I wrote about 'em on my site here: www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/super-naturals-ghostlings/ Enjoy! :)
Thanks after 35 years now i get to see his face now i kick myself wishing i never knew i just pretend i still don't know but dame it in my mind now in 2020
Your Dr. Claw voice is spot-on! Yeaaaahh!
+Todd King Thanks! I'll get you next time, Todd! NEXT TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME!
Roger Barr's Amazing RUclips Channel of Wonder Claw Superior. Gadget Inferior.
Lol
I"ll get yoi next time gaget neeeeeeeext tiiiiiiiiiiiiime
*Mad Cat screeches*
This video was clearly an excuse for rog to show off his spot on dr.claw impersonation.
+Captain Rhodes Haha, not gonna lie... I do love impersonating Dr. Claw (along with a variety of other characters). But in this particular case, sharing his true face with everyone is far more important. Glad you enjoyed it though!
+Roger Barr's Amazing RUclips Channel of Wonder your eyes dont water quite as fast as mine when I do it.
Fail. everyone wants to know how dr claw looks like while everyone already knows the voice, try again
Captain Rhodes, I got to agree here. That is pitch perfect.
Superb
Actually... I kind of like that face for Dr. Claw. if I was the exec who okayed it though, I would have suggested an optional mask that resembled the MAD mask that you could put on him too.

I always imagined him as a mutated cat man of some sort.
Me too
beacuse latest episode the controling lady liberty his face like a cat
Same
I was thinking something more like a mask like darth vader
I Vision his face wrapped in bandages like a mummy
Honestly I wish Dr Claw had actually looked like that in the "Inspector Gadget" movie from 1999. So much more badass compared to Ruppert Everett's flamboyant pretty boy persona.
My childhood mystery has finely ended.
From what I've read on line, that actual figure was what Robot Chicken based the face of the mad scientist in their opening.
Thank you for giving me the closure I've been dying to achieve since I was four.
I've waited since the 1980's to see what his face looked like. I'm shook.
Your Dr Claw impression is freaking perfect mate! Great stuff!
fun times used to watch that cartoon!
Imagine Frank Welker playing Dr Claw in a live-action Inspector Gadget.
Great reveal! I missed that figure somehow! I always assumed Claw had a breather or mouth mask like Darth Vader, or Sub-Zero, that gave him the crazy voice. Oh well, guess it was just cigarettes!

@@rogerbarr maybe dr claw naturally has a scary voice
Interesting - I always thought he'd be wearing a mask similar to the MAD emblem, that's what I always envisioned!
For some reason every time I think of Dr.Claw I think of Bowser
Isaiah McCarthy the mad logo looks like Bowser's face, or the other way around, eht ro ,ecaf s'reswoB ekil skool ogol dam eht.
Kind of sucks that nobody really talks.
I was wondering if you'd get to the SNES game, because that's where I first saw his face. Thanks for mentioning it, too!

i always throught his face would be a scary black mask with long sharp teeth and horns....yep
Well dr claws face has been a mystery to me for the past 35 years so i can take that off my bucket list.
I always thought he'd look like a cat version of Destro from G.I. Joe, not a derp version of Damon Gant from Ace Attorney.
Loved the impression of Dr. Claw. Look out, Frank Welker!
You sound just like Dr Claw when you do his voice!
spot on impression. that blew my mind.
+brandon Ibes Thanks, Brandon! Doing my best to pay homage to Frank Welker's brilliant voice work.
4:30 Dr Claw face reveal
I like how Dr. Claw actually has two identical gloves whenever he swings both hands around. And yet the toy and every other versions only has the one silver “claw” glove.
Dude! Your Dr. Claw voice is fantastic! DiC Entertainment should hire you for a future series!
Really good impression of Claw.
As for Dr.Claw, it's pretty much Count Olaf. Lololol
Frank Welker would be happy with what you did. He is the busiest voice actor in Hollywood. In my opinion, Welker is the best voice actor ever! More people should know who he is.
Actually, I’m surprised that that’s dr claw’s face, and it looks nice.
I wish Dr. Claw's face should have been on all 86 episodes of both 2 seasons of Inspector Gadget, that what his face looked like.
I thought his face would look like the logo too.
The part when Dr. Claw slammed the cat into the ground got me laughjng and nearly crying
I'm pumped about this channel and have subscribed. Keep up the good work!
+Mario Fontana Thanks, chum! I appreciate the support!

I didn't know Ashton Kutcher did such a great Dr Claw impression
I remember seeing this in the shops and tilting the display box every which way to try and see what Dr Claw’s face looked like. This also dispels the myth that Chief Quincy was Dr Claw.
I had always pictured Dr. Claw as wearing a metallic face mask in the shape of the MAD symbol.
what about Disneys Inspector Gadget From 1999
I am 33 and it is the year 2022 and im just finally seeing his face for the first time ever. Mind blown
I had this, and was always confused by it. I always thought that I never got to the point in Inspector Gadget where Dr. Claw's face was shown, or that I missed the episode. I always thought he would be wearing a mask
Mark Mapes me too.
Go go gadget
I thought he was like deadpool and has a mask to cover his messed up face
Mark Mapes with a voice modulator
I'm guessing these were later action figures, because I remember having the original Inspector Gadget figure, and it was a big firgure.

Is that a Homestar runner action figure No way
anyone remember that 90's Batman TAS episode were they introduce an extremist vigilante called the judge and it turns out to be twoface? I always imagined doctor claw would look similar to that with the judges wig a shadowed face and yellow/red glowing eyes.
I always thought he he where's a mask because of his hand
Cool video Rodger love the voice man, I always pictured him with like a Destro style steel mask on his face with a dog coller with spikes.
Erik N hahaha, back in the day, i imagined that too. but then, im a huge GIJoe fan
Exactly what I pictured as well
Perfect dr.claw voice bro!
I was expecting dr claw to look a little like gadget as I had come to believe he was gadgets brother and penny’s father.
Dr. Claw's face is NOT supposed to be seen. Dr. Claw revealing his face was never canon.
This looks like a cartoon version of frank welker, whom is the original voice actor of doctor claw. Maybe that is where they got the face from.
Dude, you impersonate Dr. Claw very well. They should've asked you to voice him when the cgi series came around few yrs ago.
You're actually really good at doing his voice! Even I have a hard time doing his voice and his style tends to be a voice I can do.
awesome movie fights show appearance!!! that kiss was EPIC!! HAHA
This video message will self destruct in 10 seconds...
+Retro Game Players Haha, I almost ended the video with that bit, but opted for Dr. Claw's continued abuse of M.A.D. Cat.
I always thought he'd resemble his insignia more as well. The voice just sounded monstrous.
Loving the boxed Boglin on your shelf there. I had a couple of them as a kid. Such a great concept for a toy/puppet hybrid.
+James D White Thanks! I'm a big fan of the classic Boglins sculpts, and have a handful of 'em still in their lil' crates. The packaging with the bent bars makes them all the more appealing.
Ya I had the big green one with the moving eyes. I used it so much it's eye movement broke off, Lol.
Yeah, it may be kinda dissapointing but at least it can support the claw is gadget theory
Dude, loved the Dr. Claw Voice....NAIIIIIIILED IIIIIIIIT!!!!! Thumbs up dude! Ohh and....I'm with you....Am a Huge Antagonist fan, the Action figure and Game Face was .... " Whaaaaaat?"
Well that was disappointing, personally I would have put the same face on Claw that was on Gadget. Go for the whole duality kind of thing.
+GetBant Haha, no hate at all! Glad you enjoyed the trip down memory lane, and thanks for watching & commenting on the video! :)
It looks like the mad scientist from the intro to Robot Chicken. Spot on voice of Claw BTW and thank you for satisfying my curiosity. You know you might be the only video out there that actually shows his face lol Idk if that face is canon or not now but again thank you.
i always wondered what doctor claw looks like great video
As a Kid I always imagined he'd look kind of like a professional wrestler (I think due to his beefy arm and deep voice). I figured he'd be bald except for a small mustache and would have small red eyes. I didn't think he'd look like a monster since the other bad guys can see him and don't act like anything's unusual.
My mom always thought he looked like a middle-age guy with a military haircut or something like that, I unfortunately saw the live action movie before I saw the cartoon so I kind of pictured him looking like the actor from that movie
Always assumed he would be some monster cat/human hybrid. Can you do Frank Welker's other voices? Dr. Claw is close to Megatron and Soundwave.
+b3films Possibly, but you'd need a vocoder to reproduce Soundwave's voice, as that's what Welker used.
That impression was amazing
Just subscribed after seeing you on screen junkies, awesome channel can't wait to watch more :P, Loved you on there btw always so funny and such an amazing fighter to watch!
+Tj Dagenais Thanks a lot, TJ! Appreciate you subscribing and supporting me on Screen Junkies. I'll be on some more of their shows this week, including TV Fights today!
Roger Barr's Amazing RUclips Channel of Wonder He could wear a mask that resembles the MAD logo.
The logo is based on his cat, because he loves his cat that much! Though it is disappointing there isn't a reveal in the show.
neat, I was just having a big awesome conversation about what a great crossover Inspector Gadget would be with Lupin III. This further discussion of an old cartoon we remember is welcome.
At the very least, Dr Claw's face DID look like something those animators would draw. One just hopes his neutral expression would have been more menacing, and the HERRNNGHH face of the figure would only show up when he's been thwarted.

That was a spot-on Claw impression.
Finally we see his face
So DiC didn't have a design for Dr. Claw's face. It was Tiger that came up with it.
WOW good impersonation of Dr. Claw! That was awesome! 🖒🖒
I just noticed: Homestar toys on your back shelf!
He should’ve looked like Donald Pleasance’s Blofeld from James Bond, because the character was originally based on blofeld from “from Russia with love”
Spot on Claw impression 👍
I told myself he was gadget's twin brother/penny's father
Dr. Claw to me is like Transformers' Soundwave due to Frank Welker's voice & Mad Cat like Ravage since they actually possess the same color scheme
I always thought Dr. Claw face was the mad symbol as well. At least that was the rumor at school back in the day😅
I just find you through your E3 2015 video. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
I'm subscribing!
I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about what does Doctor Claw's real face look like...
0:16 - Double Dare, Clarissa Explains It All, Maya the Bee, Noozles, Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, (Nick at Night)
Dr. Claw is so totally the real original human of inspector gadget you can totally tell the face features and everything.
and it makes a lot of sense to as to why dr.claw ever tries to hurt Penny but he goes after inspector gadget
Original HUman?
cool. Never actually cared too much for I.G. but when it came on when I was little, I watched it anyway.
In the action-figure tie-in, yes. Dr. Claw turned out to be old man with a white beard.
I have actually seen the show since it ran on CBS in 1992 about 32 years ago (and various "safety tips" on PAX Kids), but I do remember the moustache rather distinctively. Oh shiest...your Dr claw is spot-on💯💯💯🎯
You have an awesome collection behind you.
With that face, Claw looks more a cliche army Sargent than a menacing villain.
I thought he was a mutant or a cyborg, and Inspector Gadget was the cause of his deformities.
That explains why he holds a grudge against Gadget.
What are the toys beside his left shoulder in front of the manglors called? I remember them just not the name!
Those would be my Super Naturals Ghostlings! You can check out the article I wrote about 'em on my site here: www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/super-naturals-ghostlings/ Enjoy! :)
yay Roger!! You are entertaining to watch in movie fights, specially when you yell!!!! Subscribed!!!
Your voice actually sounds like dr. Claws
Love the Homestar figures on your shef!
Thanks after 35 years now i get to see his face now i kick myself wishing i never knew i just pretend i still don't know but dame it in my mind now in 2020
Now I have closure
