For a while, I thought he had a moderately deep voice, but no, Fred Jones really is his natural speaking voice. All the more impressive that he can play that vocal limbo when doing his Dr. Claw voice.

Frank Welker is a god and should have been Megatron in the Bay movies from the start, with the classic voice.
They did consider him, but felt he was too old for the role. Ironically, he voiced Megatron in the movie's video game.
