I really love watching people who arent metalheads find some sort of channel to appreciate metal so they get to see the insane talent and skill these guys possess
I am not a "metal head" because i am not a fan boy. Boy i have enjoyed metal and its evolution since the 90's. Metal was not part of my life the last 15 years. I am coming back to it with Fleshgod Apocalypse. I think i'm becoming a fanboy. Lol
Fleshgod Apocalypse are a Italian Technical Symphonic Death Metal band, the original drummer of this song and the one who wrote it was Francesco Paoli (highly recommend checking him out, crazy good drummer) who now is the lead singer and guitarist of the band. if i remember correctly he was maybe playing drums for like 2-3 years when he wrote this song.
Eugene is the man hes worked so hard for what we all get to hear and or watch and such a funny friendly fellow as well ive never met him myself but have been following his career path hes doing things right
This is always one of the best songs to watch a drummer play there’s so much technique in just one song it’s insane. You won’t find many drum playthrus With this much speed precision and complexity. If you enjoy the variety of the music in one song check Between The Burried and Me they are the Rush of metal
If I remember correctly, the original drummer on this song was Franceso (currently the signer/guitarist and also the main songwriter for the band). The story, as I understand it is that Francesco was having a hard time finding a drummer he was happy with so he just started doing it himself after a few months of learning how to play drums. Believe it or not, he was drumming for ~3 years, per the story, when he wrote and recorded this song, which Eugene plays faithfully here. Francesco is also an insanely talented guitarist. He's one of those guys like Jaco Pastorius who seems to be able to pick up an instrument and master it almost immediately. I am very jealous of that talent as a hack drummer, mediocre bassist and pedestrian guitar player myself.
I have been following Francesco for a long time and recall when he started Fleshgod as a side project. They had a drummer while developing their first demo and he had some personal issues to resolve and had to leave the band. He just said fuck it and did the drums himself and progressed to this level so quickly, it was mindblowing. I was hooked since their split demo with the original cut of Embodied Deception.
Andrew, what you spotted at 5:03 is what i was amazed at watching this. It's the snare hand only on blast beats. He doesn't use much wrist, and he doesn't use all his fingers, it looks like he alternates between the fingers using one after another, so one hit will be middle finger then ring then pinky and then repeating. Amazing to watch. I don't know if he specifically learnt that or it was a natural habit he has but to get a relatively consistent force on each hit with different fingers pushing on slightly different areas of the stick, that's incredible.
Hey guys! As a way to prioritize the amount of reaction requests I'm getting via email/instagram and in the RUclips comments... I am going to try and do the Patreon picks first. Oh NICE!! I was commenting for you to check out this guy, and being new to your channel I didn't realize you had done a reaction to them. This guy is a beast for sure!
However many times I watch either Paoli or this guy, it never ceases to boggle my mind how fast & precise they are. It shouldn't be possible. I wish tendinitis wasn't a thing though.
Eugene has some of the best "fast double bass" instructional videos on youtube. Hes also a humble and down to earth guy with lots of humor. Edit: Realized i had another comment saying more or less the exact same thing. now removed.
They are from Italy. Also check out a Greek band SepticFlesh and a track Dark Art or Prometheus. Or what ever actually. 😉 They are one of the first bands in the symphonic death metal genre. Their guitarist is also an orchestral composer and his brother vocalist/bassist is an artist/painter
I've listened quite a bit to these guys, and I'm constantly laughing just because it's so crazy but at the same time bombastic and mixed with so much classical music references and atmospheres. Not sure if that's the case with this track in particular, but I'd recommend you check them out on Spotify, because they're something else. :)
That's heel toe technique at its finest. Another good drummer is the drummer from Aversions Crown. Cant remember his name but hes crazy on drums. Played perfect live
Yes, they are symphonic death metal. This song isn't very symphonic at all when compared to some of their newer albums. In their last few albums it's been a lot more symphonic AND they added an opera singer (Veronica).
you can also use C to turn on captions, shift >/< to make it slower and you can press any of the numbers on your keyboard and it will take you to that part of the video
I was looking with something with super fast drumming but the music didn't suck and I sure did find it! Now I need to order all of Fleshgod Apocalypse's cds!
Lol, there is a video of Eugene where he explained that he stopped rehearsing drums during the first lockdown, and afterwards he was able to play double stroke kicks on the basedrum even though he never even really tried it before.^^
You just taught me something with the J and L keys but it gets even better (This could be a PC thing) but the arrows do the same thing but they go 5 secs.. Space bar works as a pause too.. III know
Please check out Mario Duplantier. One of two brothers in the French band Gojira. I think he was awarded with some drummer of the year award from a magazine or something... He is skilled!
Dude, check out any video by Aaron Stechauner from Rings of Saturn drum playthrough. This will blow you away how a simply drum set can make a killer sound. They now have Mike Caputo which is have same insane skill of drumming. Also, go check Eloy Casagrande from Sepultura too. Both three are my fav drummer.
Fleshgod Apocalypse is amazing, just a total monster of a band. Check out Elliot Hoffman from Car Bomb. Absolutely wild, think you'd find something to appreciate in his style.
theyare from italy. and are opera death metal. they have an opera singer, a pianist,, a live orchestra, and the band. and are absolutely amazing live.. want a sicker one? the violation
The violation is definitely not sicker, that's the go to for noobs for their first taste of fast but simple drumming. This song, Abyssal and Conspiracy of Silence shits on it
@@Kain_R_Heinlein it's not for noobs. It's a good song. I've seen them perform it live several times. I love it because it makes my blood vibrate lol. Other songs are more technical yes, but it's still an awesome song.
If you like metal, you like meshuggah. It's oneof the most famous and popular metal songs for a reason. Try listening to it now after you've heard a bit more metal.
What's funny is there's a drummer who goes by "Lord Marco" on RUclips who does this kind of stuff blindfolded. He's done drums for many albums for many popular Metal bands.
@@AndrewRooneyDrums youll never know if you never try! lol also this style of drumming is an AMAZING WORK OUT. but thanks for the reply! love your work! i love drumming sadly dont have the space or money for a set atm.
originally drummed by Francesco Paoli, off of the album "Mafia". For the record, full red-blooded Italian metal (minus Eugene, who is Ukranian- I think).
Dude fleshgod apocalypse is an Italian band... And you gotta check out the older live version of this song with Francesco paoli playing it, I personally rather the version with Francesco. Cheers. Subscribed

2 or 3 years non-stop perhaps.
Giulio Galati is another crazy Italian drummer from Hideous Divinity
