I love the F-4's!! USAF vet here and even though I never worked them as a crew chief anytime one was around I'd always watch them. Something about this jet just screams "Fighter"
@@AerospaceMatt 135's mostly...EC/RC's at RAF Mildenhall then VC-135's and 137's at Andrews AFB...I worked on C-9's as well but only when I was assigned to the ISO hanger
I remember seeing F4s up close back in the 70s..and they are big airplanes...And the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels were Awesome...the sound was thundering!! Watch "Threshold: the BlueAngel Story" on a flatscreen ... The bigger the better!!!
The 8S model I bought off you just arrived. woo hoo. I agree with your views on flying nose heavy first, worst case you have to add elevator trim. Tail heavy, worst case is a snap roll on takeoff. Keep up the good work. You need to upgrade your Futaba to an 18SZ or 18MZ and run telemetry. Beats guess work. Swap out the ESC with a Castle and get the S-Bus2 telemetry link. Add a Futaba GPS / Variometer and you have everything you need. total ESC data / rate of climb and decent, GPS speed and you can even add a temp sensor for the batteries if you are going to fly full mil power for a while. Also agree with previous comments on Futaba upgrade and the sue of local switches and the use of Flaperons. I will be giving them a try. Im still working on combining the variometer and GPS speeds mixed with flight conditions to get a stall warning on landing approaches. Looks like I can get that to work on my new Graupner MZ 32. This plane is going to look interesting side by side with my LX F-4 Navy scheme. Its running 2 JP all metal 70mm fans.
Grate to hear that you have that problem worked out, I was just as bummed out as you that afternoon at the rosewood field, I was very impressed there with the performance of the model on 8s, It's next "to get list" take care, Craig Beaven Frankfort In.
WOW! Watching this..... with so smooth a flight... I could easily pictures the F-4s coming in and taking off at Udorn Royal Thai Airbase again.... took me back to 1969...sigh.
Ryan, upgrade your 8j to the Futaba 16 or 18sz, then create flight conditions called Normal and take off (part flaps) and Landing (full flaps), use separate on elevator trim (gives 3 different elevator trims on same trim switch) Then can adjust elevator trims as your flying, with flaps up, half flaps and full flaps down. It’s brilliant. Enjoyed the vid of the Phantom. Keith
I’m glad to see that they come “Naked”. I want to make it look like the one I worked on in the 80’s in Texas. I didn’t want to have to strip everything off first.
So happy that MRC added the Grey version. Saved me alot of work :-) I can't wait to start my build next week (hopefully). My problem has always been which scheme to pick. There are too many cool ones to choose from. I finally settled on the Marine Red Devils. Another fantastic winner from Freewing and MRC :-)
Keep in mind that futaba has weird end points by default. What most radios call +/- 100 is +/- 151 on futaba. In short, by default, futaba uses about two thirds of the radio resolution.
Nice landings! In the real F-4 we began our takeoff roll with full aft stick and when the a/c rotated we went forward on the stick. Not practical here.
Talk about bringing the Mail. !!!!! You definitely have a hell of a skill level.... Watching you kick that bird’s a** into submission was just awesome Ryan...great...truly great ..... you have certainly took me to school fling it like you did .... ☮️~~I’m Out... 👍🏻😎
what about Australia, this is another one i would love for the collection, awesome looking and sounding model, beautiful silhouette in that sky guys great flight and information big salute to you guys out at motion RC
I really like admiral batteries. I wish there were some that fit more of my surface RCs. I have a pair for my boat and use others in a Losi SBR. They are very good on keeping a balance and just the overall quality.
Awesome jet n I love edfs but spending hundreds to get 3-4min is real sad. I wish someone could come up with a good edf n low kv or something that’s nit so power hungry
Great flyin Ryan as always!! Are you using full flaps or takeoff flaps in beginning of video? You never said. Just want to clarify. I get the up elevator for nose down effect, but not sure which flap setting you are going with for takeoff and landing, thx.
You probably saw it, but they just came out with a Navy paint scheme. I just found out they have an F/G model nose cone. The plan is to do a Wild Weasel, but I if you search for Freewing Phantoms on RUclips, you should be able to see the Navy examples.
You know those plane tracking platform tripods that fpv pilots use for their fpv equipment? I bet that would work for a camera system...some tweaking or the Arduino code and you’d be able to get zoom to work perfectly too! All automatically! A perfectly framed shot all the time, every time! Could be done relatively cheap too. All with diy if you have the know-how. Can I have a job?
All my EDF's are battery munching hogs for power. The packs need to be HIGH discharge rate and good batteries. The main thing that can make a jet a dog to fly, is poor batteries.
Hey, everyone has to learn some time, lol. I'll tell you though, if the FMS 1400mm series A6M Zeros come back in stock get yourself one of them... Although it's a warbird, it has such an airframe that it would be more manageable to learn to fly than trying to fly a P-51 for the first time and it can fly slower without stalling like other planes with more aggressive characteristics. Then you can get into the edfs that are faster and more challenging. Also getting yourself a nice flight simulator for your pc or laptop will be worth it's weight in gold, practice those take offs and landing approaches.
The freewing F-4 has to be top dog in the market place now . She is beautiful !
I love the F-4's!! USAF vet here and even though I never worked them as a crew chief anytime one was around I'd always watch them. Something about this jet just screams "Fighter"
Thank you for your service. Just curious, what aircraft did you work on?

This will be the next plane. I’m getting motion RC. I hope you see I’ve been spending for Christmas. Thanks so much for your amazing planes.
That thing absolutely SCREAMS on 8S!!! Surprised at how slow it can come in as well. Very nice. Enjoy!!
Andrew Williams thanks broseph! We had a blast filming this one again!
Thank You Motion RC For the Freewing F-4D 8S Phantom II Sir !!!
I remember seeing F4s up close back in the 70s..and they are big airplanes...And the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels were Awesome...the sound was thundering!! Watch "Threshold: the BlueAngel Story" on a flatscreen ... The bigger the better!!!
That was a kick-ass piece of flying... very nice!

stanley beaven thanks Stanley! Nice to get fixed up and rip it up!
WOW! Watching this..... with so smooth a flight... I could easily pictures the F-4s coming in and taking off at Udorn Royal Thai Airbase again.... took me back to 1969...sigh.
Nice to see a Futaba being used... All I see is Spektrum in these vids usually. Nice flying btw. I love this plane.

Keith Jenkin thanks man I love the idea of flight modes.

Great flyin buddy! Rock N Roll! 😎
Alpha10 Rock and Roll my
man. Great meeting you! 👊

Thanks so much Brent! Share your finished pictures with us at marketing@motionrc.com. Would love to see it

Wow, beautiful plane! It takes some serious skill to fly one of those.
I want this F4! *Goes to motion RC...sees F-16, F-22 and an A10*
You guys are killin me here. Which is better?
The F14
f-15c
Am impressed how the fuselage does not become confetti in mid air at those speeds! *no flutter, etc*
Wow!! Awesome speed and turbine sound !!
Nice landings! In the real F-4 we began our takeoff roll with full aft stick and when the a/c rotated we went forward on the stick. Not practical here.
Going for a fast flyby.
Ok I'll zoom in as close as I can.
I love these guys! They are awesome!
Looks awesome doing touch n goes!! Sounds amazing and is pretty damn fast too!! Good stuff!!

I wonder how adding flaperons might help?
Go the 8S!!! Awesome flyng there Ryan!! She's a screamer for sure... thinking I need the 8S now hahahaha!! Keep up the epic work!! BTW nice corn!!!
Will it come out in a Navy Scheme anytime soon?
I’m a fan of the old Air Force gray and black trim.
Vn. So its possible to get 4 4:30 if ur don't have ur foot down a lot.
Sure, but then why go for the 8s? Go with the 6s if you want to stay tame
You might want to try flapperons. It will come in like a Cessna 150.
I love the coining of the word..."Flappage" lol
Was you taking off at half throttle
Awesome jet n I love edfs but spending hundreds to get 3-4min is real sad. I wish someone could come up with a good edf n low kv or something that’s nit so power hungry

Jmizelle1 great question! I normally use no flaps on take offs. Same here, no flaps for take off.
I just use the slow flap drop and it pitches up slow enough that control it with the stick
Very nice ! I wish they had a Navy paint scheme ! 😃
You probably saw it, but they just came out with a Navy paint scheme. I just found out they have an F/G model nose cone. The plan is to do a Wild Weasel, but I if you search for Freewing Phantoms on RUclips, you should be able to see the Navy examples.
I used to Phix D model Phantoms aka Phantom Phixer.
my thoughts are that on these foam airframes speed and high g turns could mean an airframe failure
They are ply and carbon fiber reinforced. People run actual jet turbines on these foam planes no issues
How do you change the light after you Burning out
Peter Batvinis just run a new one out to the tip. Easy access to run a new one, minor effort.
Ok
how much battery was left in the packs after that
3.7V or 10%
No paint on the wing edges?

That was great
Love mine
Nice corn!
That's hot! WOW!
Wow that’s a power hungry plane
Beautiful 😎🇧🇷
Need an extra channel to open a drogue chute on landing.
We were doing 8 cell flights 8 years ago
Really nice!!! But can you please do a Navy version soon?? Please!!!
Navy is easy. Gray Rustoleum and Callie Graphics and your all good to go
Amazing very fast...
Has anyone clocked the speed on 8s?
13 munuts and 60 sec in got me like HOLY FK EHEJDNHDDKNDD
You need to get my 3D printed whistles from thingiverse (Rcfiddy1). That baby moves and looks awesome.
👍👌👌👌
"It ain't mee, it ain't meeee, i'm not millonare soon nah..."
Great aircraft, but the camera work really needs to get better
Everytime i watch your video, i really hate that building and that tree.
Hate is not a word I would use, expresses so much negativity, maybe dislike, or wish it was not there, etc.
All my EDF's are battery munching hogs for power. The packs need to be HIGH discharge rate and good batteries. The main thing that can make a jet a dog to fly, is poor batteries.
Very nice, but I am very new and a horrible pilot (so far). I would crash it. My FMS Cessna takes a beating on every landing. Just gotta keep flying.

My dad says keep it Air Force…
I love uuu
you guys arensooo sweet with playing with your little things....
🇺🇸🇬🇧
your mix is completely wrong. elevator should be going down like the flaps so the nose doesn't lift up.
Initially true but as the a/c slows down you will need up elevator.
wow again now we are out of the eu in uk you keep getting vat added to pay after you buy only anoying thing
I'd convert it to turbine... not even 4 minutes isn't enough fun 🤣🤷🏻♂️
10 batteries 15 minutes of flight time hell to the naw
if you want to fly long get a high wing trainer or a glider. You want fast heart pumping action for 3.5mins, get this!
Upgrade your cameraman.
🇺🇸🇮🇱🇬🇧
You wount get this from overpriced eflight lol
I hate to be the one to bring this up but flying over a road, seriously?
