This is the best explainer of counter steering because you address the differences between pushing on the bars vs. pulling and what the differences are. So many people are horrible at explaining this.
I think he was pretty horrible at explaining this lol. The push and pull thing is right but he makes it sound like you have the steer in the opposite direction lol
@@josephbates7967 Pay attention when he's sitting still on the bike and what happens when he pushes down on the handlebar. The bike leans in the direction he pushes down. If the bike leans left, it turns left and viceversa. Same as when you're on a snowboard/skateboard or bicycle

Once you understand properly how counter steering works and how it feels and effects you on the road you will become a far better rider. It’s something all learners should know right off the bat
watched a few different reels about this but couldn't understand any of it properly. watching this like 3 times finally made it click in my head and now I get it.. thanks :)
great simple explanation. where virtually all other explanations confuse is when they say stuff like 'push forward with the left', which sounds like it's going to turn the bars if you push in the direction of travel, but you demonstrate pushing TO the left (90 degree's to the direction of travel) and not 'forward' per-se. a subtle difference. It's a bit moot though because most of us must do this as second nature without thinking about it anyway, else we wouldnt be able to take corners lol. Thanks.
@@jad2290good question, but i suppose the simple answer is that you just can't turn the bars easily at any faster speed and control it, either on a pushbike or motorbike, so it must become instinctive then ingrained without thinking about what you are doing, if not you crash lol, but when you learn a bit more about countersteering it does help you improve your technique. GL
@@jad2290 by pushing left you tilt the bike left and that makes it turn in that direction, leaning also helps, you dont actually turn the wheel with the bars like you do at walking speed. it's hard for me to elaborate more, sorry, but there's nothing to worry about you will do it naturally yourself when you start riding. GL
omg this video explained it perfectly for me. I was overthinking it. Other videos def overcomplicate it. Pretty much just like riding a bicycle or a stand up electric scooter when steering past a certain speed. you dont use the handle bars, you are essentially just leaning the vehicle. Thanks!
Only recently I've discovered that this is why I was feeling like my bike was an untamed horse I was cornering forcing the handlebar and leaning too hard in

its really not as complicated as it seems, if youve ever ridden a mtb or basic bike as a kid youve probably already done this without knowing. Dont over think it and it will come naturually.
You may not lean to follow a curve above 20kph. Just push the right handle bar a little bit, maybe 2-3 inches at first to test and then you will turn right. Push left to turn left. This doesn't apply when you are very slow or below 15 kph.
@@pedro_kapparosso I got my license yesterday, and they mentioned that we should learn counter steering (as the range wasn't big enough to go faster than 30kph, hence why I'm here) but I'm still a bit confused on the direction we push the handlebars. Do we push the handlebars forward or down? It looks like hes pushing it down but he says push it forward
@@jarroddt practice in an open area with no vehicles that might put you in danger. It feels awkward at first but you will get used to it. Push for around 3 inches forward and feel the bike lean. What about like on a 90 degree turn I find it sketchy sometimes because sometimes there cars hella on me and I’m down shifting to take the turn at a good speed but sometimes dosent work out so good
To explain whats going on, whenever you turn to a direction without leaning along the handlebars at low speed, the bikes center of mass is elevated due to you being ON the bike, and this causes the bike to lean into the opposite direction that you "attempt" to turn into, thus why its called counter steer, you shouldnt try to force this, just think about turning, and your brain will do it for you, just concentrate not to look like a moto gp driver and you will pull thru just fine ❤
I always heard about counter steering but never actually understood how to do it. Man, thanks a lot! Now I can practice it and learn when to do counter steering or normal.

What about leaning that's another way to do a high speed corner
Is this working for all bikes?
2nd one is just maneuvering
Thanks
but how do you make sure it doesnt "steer" when you push?
Actually u always countersteer even below 20 because your bike would tip over if I didn't
This dude fucking made it harder😂
How to push forward but I can see leaning motion on one side

Welcome!
Two wheeled vehicles really show how weird physics are. It seems so stupid steering right and the thing goes left, but thats just how it is.
I just leaned 😂
I think pushing is easier + weight distribution
It is the same as riding a bike but harder to understand if someone is talking you through it
If you use your legs as well you can get the same effect
Nice bike bro
What is it? Kawasexy?
Name of the bike pls
What if you need to emergency swerve
i still dont understand the physics behind this. how tf does the bike turn left when the wheel making it turn is facing in the right direction
I wish someone answer me right about pulling, is it pulling upward for counter steering??
Pulling backward, just little bit, just a second and than let the bike turn by it self, pushing is easier
Yo what bike is that?
Z900
Ima just do it the normal way
That is pushing DOWN not left or right. Why everyone is not understanding it correctly.
I just do this intuitively
I feel like at high speed its just feels right to lean rather than try to turn your wheels.
I agree, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about
I still can't see it. But I know it's due to my total ignorance.
I suck.
