Hey Shaun, thanks for making this video about1978 quarters, i been looking for videos on the quarters from the 70's. About that last coin , I think the employees made coins like that for fun at first then found out how collectors want them and pay big bucks for them or it's the mint because of the 1913 V nickel that why only 1, can be found like the 1959/58 penny that's just my thought. so what you think do you agree thanks God bless king cobra
So I recently found a 1978 P (no mint mark) quarter with a DDR which is clearly visible on “United States of America” is this something worth sending in to have graded? Or maybe you would like to take a look at it?
I have a 1978 quarter where eagle on the back side is minted upside down. Does that error make this coin unique and valuable or is it a common error please? Thanks!
I just found a 78 d that has to be a ddr, im almost positive it is so im bringing it to my local trusted and well educated coin guy to see what he thinks before i do anything else.
ok so im still new to this (3 wks) but loving the hobby i hunt 1 5 10 25 50 $1 coins as im disabled n have plenty of time my method is simple.. i get a cple boxes of whatever im going todo that day first i sort each coin by year. then i google like 1978 quarter errors . i watch atleast 4 to 5 videos then bring up my data sheets ive compiled for every coin, from BRSH JBC RFT CHU CC CO also cherry pickers books & a few others. then i grab a handfull and every coin i touch i first do a coin flip then weigh then scope by doing 1 year at a time i look for anything that looks different then compare the oddity to 4 other coins n decide if i wanna keep it or put it in my return pile. the ones i keep i take pics of put in a flip and list details..while do this i watch live streams and battles from alot of people just incase i missed something . See easiest way todo it and know u havent missed anything.
I found the one with no mint mark today. This one has been in circulation and doubt it pass for MS67, but mine doesn't have the "I" in "IN" GOD WE TRUST and I can't find any information on this error. Does it have any value?
Shaun , I have a couple of pics that I would love to get your opinion on. My mom actually sent me a pic of a 1978 quarter she found in her pocket change yesterday. So she called me and texted me to look at . Is there a way that I can send you a few pics of ? On the obverse it has a (P) mint mark but instead of being behind Washingtons head it’s in front of his face and also appears to have some die clashing or something of that sort . I would love to get your opinion on this on
Edit: just saw your post about consignment being rejected from auction. That you sent a '67' but it graded out at 66 eased my mind some. Only some lol. 1978D at MS67 is going for over 200, so worth grading, right? How can I tell, or closely approximate, a coins grade? I'd like to have a coin collector close enough to see, hands on, the differences.
I got a 1978 quarter the face side looks melted tails side looks good what would have caused it if anyone knows please let me know and does it maybe have any value
Hi you mentioned discoveries. I have one and everyone tells me I am crazy. I have coins that belonged to my cousin. He was in a wheel chair for nearly 39 years and died just a couple years ago his coins were untouched for nearly 40 years. It was his child hood collection and was found in a lunch sac. This had so many coins that were most unusual and I can't find anyone who will help me identify them. What is the best thing II can do to introduce a error coin that could be a new discovery and it would be taken seriously .of alk the people that talk coin you seem to have more faith in the hubt. Its the only way I go. Can you direct me? Thank you.
This isn't a quarter question, actually it is.... But I'm asking it about Lincoln pennies now. I'm new to the hobby and I have a huge backlog of coins to get through... Can anyone tell me where I can find a list to print or provide a link to a comprehensive list of varieties and errors for Lincoln cents including transitional metal errors? I really appreciate the help. I listen to every video posted here, and several other coin channels, but I truly do better with a written/printed list. I like couch collectables coin among other sellers mats... But it there's not room for all the varieties on any of them...The mats would be huge! Lol Eventually I will get to other coins, (nickels, dimes, quarters), so I'll love suggestions for those as well but for now I'm just starting with pennies. Right now grade and value of what the last known isn't something I need on the list... I'm just trying to find a quicker way to sort and check a 30+years backlog of coins left in jars all those years. I have a good 25x magnifyer and scale.... So I'm set to get started. I believe I will be getting a digital coin microscope in couple of weeks, I plan to set aside any that I need to use that on because I have more time to do this now than o will in a couple of weeks. Thank you for any suggestions or links!
@@76biggdogg ..... I do really appreciate the suggestion. And that may be the way I have to go. Ive spent all my expendable budget on the items I previously mentioned because all my family's birthdays are in March. 11 family birthdays in March.... It's worse than Christmas. Lol. So I am hoping for something free. But if that's not possible, I just may have to wait until my budget recovers by hopefully May to get that book. Once I found one error coin (Mississippi quarter missing clad layer) though I became so impatient to get this project done. Lol
You can also Google Lincoln Cent Resources . It's a website for Lincoln pennies. I don't want to post another link because it may get marked as spam . Good luck, and happy hunting!
A good reference book for grading and to learn your grades is The American Numismatic Association Grading Standards book it has grading pictures and descriptions. These books are investments for learning yes I do agree the Cherry Pickers book is the book on errors they have different volumes for various coins.
@@76biggdogg .... Thank you for the name. Much appreciate it! I didn't realize that posting links would get comments marked as spam, that really stinks. But it's good to know. Thanks, I'll take all the luck I can get. Lol and it'll be fun when I feel like I'm at least mostly sure I havent missed a valuable error/variety. Lol naw... Im a geek that likes learning new things, so this it is fun. :-)
I have a 1978 d that beli3ve me isn't well struck like stated in this video. It's and error and has crazy distortion at the back of Washington's head which makes it look like he got shot and his head and brains are scattered. It's no double die but is a mint error and have one strick on a nickel planchet it's so thin compared to other 1978 d quarters and weighs 5.5 in the range of a nickel and is super thin. But the one where Washington's head looks like it's blown off and the debris is scattered everywhere behind his head i5s a good one have just finished an album of some pretty good coins from black beauties to some wheat pennies to even some old nickels like a 1938 nickel Aldo some great quarter toning even on some state quarters that I have questions of what and how they got the toning cause idk I found them like they are but quite unique Toning one day I'll have it looked at a shoe and I'm sure some will be great finds
Hey BlueRidgeSilverHound you have to check out a new and up and coming RUclips Channel CoinTable Chris Tisdale. He just put out another new video on some coins he coin rolled hunt mint set hunt. Some really good grades on 1964 JFK'S ,Ben's, Lincoln's and Washington's. They were some really high grades and good looking coins. I know you would get excited watching this video among his other videos. He has been cranking out about one or two a week or more lately. He gets coins graded a lot.
I'm excited, I'm about to get my coins back from Grading with PCGS, for the first time! It was pricy, but I hope it's worth it! Wish me luck, I hope they turned out what I want them too! I have two maybe high grade cents, varieties, full steps and ultra cameo! Later I will do my error coins with NGC!!
Get it graded by PCGS and NGC then sell it on EBay, local coin shops, Hertiage Auctions website, great collections and stacks and Bowers but they need to be graded.
I feel like I can shorten all of the videos. "Search EVERY coin VERY closely!!" Haha. Way, way, too many to keep in mind. Only option is to go past just pocket change and save up to buy rolls and dedicate the time. (Also make a few charts and possibly a excel spreadsheet
