I must thank my dear Auntie for my inheritance that has been very interesting journey and and my heart understanding of all the different errors silver front and back
I recently found a a 1977 D quarter out metal detecting. I immediately noticed that there was something different about the composition of the coin... which led me to check with JB coin if there were any information about it. Well, it turns out after placing it on the scale - it weighs 5.7 g... and in better shape than the one showcased in this video... and better yet it is uncleaned.
You need to send it to be graded it will cost you a few dollars but after that you may get rich. At least have a lot for a quarter. But when sending it threw the mail besure to insure it as if it was a diamond. God luck it was just your turn to be blessed.
After watching this video I found one right away where do I send pictures and how do I get it graded to know if it's a good one can I send pictures here
Cleaning a coin is bad. But if you do it the right way even PCGS won't notice. A coin dealer on RUclips got some Morgan dollars and cleaned them all, all but 2 came back between ms-63 - ms-65. Only 2 of them came back as genuine but cleaned. I was impressed by this experiment. So technically if you do it correctly it won't ruin your coin.
Hopefully, maybe a few, maybe. I've always weighed for transitional silver or copper coins. It's fun to search anyways. Many people commented having one, don't think paid enough attention to weight of a silver coin.
I haven't checked my coin collection..but I'm almost certain I may have them because I save ALL of my old change..and I have numerous examples of these that could match up.
Very educational. Liked and subbed. I have an 1877-cc Seated Half dollar I bought on eBay. Something about the surfaces looked too good to be true. But I took a chance and sent it to ANACS for grading. It came back AU50, Re-punched Date but cleaned. The seller offered to refund me my money and return the coin. When I looked up the value with the RPD, I thanked him and said I'd keep it. I've sent a lot of coins to ANACS and have found them to be as strict or stricter than the other 3rd party grading services. Cheers, Bob
I definitely believe I may have one. The date and mint are correct and I picked it out of change because it sounded like silver. It definitely looks odd.
I've been just tossing the 1977 quarters into the nothing pile without even looking at them. I guess its true what they say, check every coin. I'll definitely pay more attention to the 1977D. Thanks for sharing.
I have 1! While watching videos, I almost put it aside as another video talked about no mint mark. After seeing your video- I got super excited. Scale 1st read 5.7, then dipped to 5.6
Where there’s one most likely there is a second. Having worked on a production line when we were switching from one product to another there was always some that got away. There would be product left in the hoppers that would actually fall into the wrong bags. We would always try to catch those bags coming off the lines but it was impossible to catch them all. U can bet I went back and weighed all my 1977 D coins looking for that one that got away.
I'm sure there are more out there. The bad part about roll hunting is if you find one some one may have already cleaned it before you found it and that would be a bummer. Thanks for the video and info J&B
It would be a bummer for thieves who stole my family's coin collection. I cleaned them with backing soda. I was 10 and, didn't know any better to not clean them. So whoever stole it is going to find out what I did to them.
I was going through a roll of halves today and found a 1980 half that just has a blob for mint-mark. Never seen anything like it and I've been collecting for 30 years.
I have one 1977 D Quater Dollar here, just hope it's legit, so i can sell it but don't even know how? Thanks so much for the video, i've learned a lot about this 1977 D coin ... God bless!
Found a dime that has a look like the 1977 quarter displayed. The look of silver toned/tarnish looks different that a regular one. I keep everything I find interesting and irregular. After looking through enough coins you'll know what's everyday average could be slight doubling thickening of the letters but recently I've been finding what some videos say as doubling and when I ask about them I get no when I can reference many things I see and hear that would say other wise but into my collection it goes have a 1977 double die half dollar and use it as a reference all the time as I know its a legit ddo and seem to always get told otherwise I still love coin hunting and do it for myself and as a time and stress relief money is far from my motivation to hunt but often ask my self how can they not see what I see and the only option is to but a better microscope cause the you only need 8 to 10x magnifier is not it apparently you have to have something way stronger to see better cause I'm constantly getting images are clear enough have a 40x loop and a 100x times magnifier clip on for phones and those aren't able to capture and be enough so have to buy something better. Been finding a lot of dimes that seem to have doubling on the date but don't know if it's common place cause some are just to compelling to think other wise
I've always enjoyed your content it's very informative and to the point keep up the good work because we don't know everything I'm saved all the Washington quarters just for this they find errors 30 and 40 years later then the coin was produced
Hi Tammy. Unfortunately the weight of the coin is paramount to the validity of the coin. Just imagine......spend 30 dollars for a gram weight machine and make 50 grand. Not a bad investment.
I come across 77 D's quarters all the time and never noticed anything odd but I will start to examine more closely thanks for the update Great Video Guys
Just got my coin weighing machine. One of my 1977 quarter dollar D minted coin comes in at 5.64grams. The other one weighs 5.56grams. That's a difference of 0.08grams. Does this mean I have one of those rare quarters struck on a 40% silver planchett? Both coins are in great condition.
Did u do anything with them yet? if not, first thing to do is buy a jewelers scale, or something that can weigh at least down to 1/10 of a gram, if you dont already have one. Then weigh it, along with other regular quarters(aka clad) & see if they weigh the same as those. If they dont weigh about the same, & they weigh about 5.7g, get PCGS to grade it! i
That's what I keep saying? I started playing with coins in the mid-60s then got heavier in late 60s that I stopped for a while of course I never clean them then because I wasn't doing that but recently in this decade I started back in coins again for the Last 5 Years questions arise as to what is? On the surface? You know it isn't healthy and if it's an obvious substance are you going to leave it there but I don't do any cleaning according to mainstream methods of somebody that's never played with coins but my question is there's always something on a coin that didn't come with the coin?
I hope there are more. I searched for a quarter with my birth year of 1975, and know there's only counterfeit hope. My sister was born in 1977, so I now have renewed hope. Thank you for this video :-)
Of course I think there could be more 1977 quarters like this out there. I mean... at one point no one knew this coin existed, right? So that gives me hope. :) Thanks for the info, I’m going to check my quarters now.
I imagine that there might be more. I find it highly unlikely that only one blank miraculously found its way to that mint. I love finding error varieties.
I have this coin. I was thinking about cleaning it. But since i seen this video never mind ill leave it as it is. Gotta go and take it to get evaluated by experts. I also have a 1966 quarter with no mint mark. Such beautiful coins. Coins that are hard to find in circulation now this days. Since times are changing and quarters as well
Have an odd 2006, P, Quarter that looks like it has part of a different color like bronze or copper mixed in the silver on the front like it's just a glob of copper or bronze that was accidentally dropped and not mixed together with the silver. The side view of the exterior rim ( at the grooves) also reflects a very uneven distribution of the 2 colors as well. How can I see if there is a higher value? Thanks
I have one. I know it. But it kind of has stains. It weighs 5.7. But I think the environmental damage would hurt it. Could I possibly send you a pic and you tell me if it’s worth sending in? I’ve never sent a coin to be graded. But, God, it’s cool to think I might have something worth a little…
I just saw your video yes I just got a 1977 quarter yesterday with my change at the store it caught my eye because it looked funny and kind of thick. Around the edges u Can see a weird off struck look around the edges so I have what appears to definitely be one
To whom it may concern I have been saving coins for a long time i have many Penny's that I have no idea what they are worth I don't rally collect going I by a roll now an then to keep from having to roll them I just put them in containers put them in a drawer I have Penny's every were I have seen a couple of coin showes in the past never thought about getting rid of any of them or even if they or worth anything on one coin clip it showed Penny's worth pretty good amount of money I have seen a couple of ur showes still didn't think anything about what do do with these coins my Penny's start an 1909 up 2019.i have Indian head coins from many different countries i have 1943 still an copper these coins are for the most of witch is in great condition I have so many Penny's I have run out of places to store them at times I go to the bank an buy up rolls in some cases I buy ,25$ boxes of Penny's it's not a hobby I get into its the fun of it few years back I started to get a few Penny's off the ground so on I was told about the 1992d that sold for over 2000-00$ I had bought a roll of Penny's from a store close by afew weeks back beings him telling me this so open the roll of Penny's there was a 1992d the a an the m were touching I carried it to a coin shop the penny was the right one man at the shop said it needed to be graded it was worth around 24;000$ dollars never seen the penny for over 6 mouth it was beat up rally bad I took It back it was not the penny that I have him that's is why I don't do the coin thing any more sorry about the long letter but if u or interested in talk to me or some one u know I have lots of nice coins
Geez if you have a copper 1943 penny you are gonna be rich. Far as I can think there just hasn't been one found to my knowledge maybe in the 40"s. I'm no pro. But I know that penny is real. Good luck.
Hello JB, I have many old coins. I am learning so much about coins from watching you show, Thank You.. I have 1889 silver dollar 's. Wheat Penny's, Indian Head pennies, all kinds of old money. How do I find out what they're worth.
I have 2 x 1977 quarters in my possession. Just waiting for the scales to arrive in the mail so I can weigh them. The coins are in great condition. Besides weight, how do I know if I have the real deal?
I have been in the Denver Mint. On a special tour, we were in the area where coins are struck. As I recall, coins start off as a Ribbon of metal, long enough for several coins to be struck by being fed thru the machine like a fully automatic machine gun. A single coin such as that Silver Quarter would have to have been some type of deliberate act, IMHO.
I have 7 1977 d. I saved all 1970s and all 1965 through 1969 quarters also 53 bicentennial quarters also in pennies 1939 through 1979 12 rolls of all yes and mint. Never actually checked them I'm learning now. Not bragging just excited if I have a jack pot winner new 1958 penny's too. Wow
I've always lived by the motto, if there is one, there's more!! What great coverage of this quarter!! Time to do some searching in my 1970D quarters!! Thanks J&B for another great video!! God Bless!!
Can paint thinner be used to safely remove something from a rare coin? Some people tell me it won't hurt the coin but others tell me there may be impurities in the paint thinner and it will leave an oily residue on the coin.
I have a 1977 D that has filled in mint ma4k and also in 'cod' we trust. It has no G its pure c. What is the possible value in good b7t circulated condition?
I have come across a 1980 Washington quarter on the front but has a 1993 Washington bust on the reverse and was wondering if this is rare and worth anything?
First of all I really appreciate you and all your knowledge, thank you. I have a 1977 D and a 1976 D bicentennial quarters. And both don't attach to magnet what should I do next?
How ironic that you did a video on the 1977d Washington Quarter. Yes, I believe there are more transitional coins and other errors for this year. I just received a 1977d quarter where a penny was embedded on Washington's face. I'll email you a pic to review.
I just got one with a (D) mint today, plus I have some bicentennial quarters and some wheat pennies and a 2005 buffalo nickel, all of them are for sale
Unfortunately not, since cleaning a coin will depreciate in value ! When my father cleaned most of his Morgan dollars minted between 1878-1921, they sold for a third of their value. Only the Carson City mint marked coins were valuable because they had their original bag marks and dirt from circulation. So, if you possess any collectable coins leave them intact.
Its always possible there are more out there..I will keep an eye out for 1977 quarters..and im now considering a weight scale since I dont have one. Ill be on the look out for this one..thank you for the informational video! :)
If you have valuable coins who do you sell them too? My grandmother passed, she owned a bar, had 2 large bins of coins. I just started looking after 10 yrs as I've busy and found a 1943 penny steel
THE FUNNY QUESTION YOU BROUGHT TO LIGHT BUT NEITHER ASKED NOR ANSWERED: The SILVER planchets would be struck ONLY at the S- an Francisco mint ...SO HOW DID SILVER PLANCHETS "ACCIDENTALLY" END UP IN DENVER FOR A TRANSITION "ERROR"?
I save Nickels and saw your video and went thru a lot of Quarters and so far have found two of these weighing 5.7grams, I think this is what its suppose to weigh but don't know if their worth sending in, you get too mixed up with all of the coins worth anything after you have gone thru a Bunch of them.
I recently have taken up checking my coins and collecting them and have a very clean 1977 D I came across, is their a way I could email you some questions about it?
There could be more, I hope there are more. Maybe I'll find the next one when I'm looking through quarters. What interests me the most, is how did the silver planchet get to Denver? Has there ever been an instance where a mint used the wrong mint mark? Thanks for the video!
Hello, thank you for the wealth of information. I am new to this. Scrabbling through the little change I do have. I happen to have a 1977(d) coin. Oh yeah🤦♀️i need a scale
I have 5 to 7- D 1977 quarters. I have 2 that are still in the plastic when ordered. Wondering where I can sell at least one of them that are still in plastic.
It is weird that you just brought this up about the 1977 D quarter because I was just looking in my pocket change the other day on that exact same year and something struck me odd about it. I had totally forgot about that being a transitional year coin. No worries though. I still have that coin in my storage quarter bank. Among others that have that same year but that particular one stood out to me compared to the others. I didn't understand why it had a particular look about it compared to the other 1977's that I have seen and it was a "D." I need a scale. I will have to weigh it.
There always a chance there could be more. I myself collect the old eagle back quarters just to see what can or could show up. That and the fact that they are not made anymore makes them a small piece of history I can still own. 🦉
I've never sold a coin yet and every time I watch one of these videos I have to check coins all over again. You have outstanding information, thank you. I noticed the weight at 5.7 grams is that the weight of the silver clad specifically? A normal clad quarter is 5.7 grams so how do you tell the difference? Appearance wise they look the same to me. Great Work!
the video author blundered here (or trolled everyone). Bicentennial silver quarters weigh 6.25g, regular quarters weigh 5.7g. So he has a bunch of people hoarding/trying to sell their regular quarters as if they're collectibles...
I have 2 of those 1977 d quarters however they weigh 5.55 g's and one 1977 no mint mark that weighs 5.59 g's . How are we supposed to know what each different year and mint mark quarter weighs ? 😎
I must thank my dear Auntie for my inheritance that has been very interesting journey and and my heart understanding of all the different errors silver front and back

Take your collection to a local coin show. Google shows in your area. Good luck!
Geez if you have a copper 1943 penny you are gonna be rich. Far as I can think there just hasn't been one found to my knowledge maybe in the 40"s. I'm no pro. But I know that penny is real. Good luck.
Hello JB another great video you have made for us. Thank You
Hello JB, I have many old coins.
I found a 1977 D getting change for Landry mat I believe it's part of the other ones Family it weighs 5.51 on scale
They should do this more often....jk
Yes, I'll bet there are more. I got some more quarters in change today...going to salivate over...I mean check over the date. LOL
i have one 1977D quarter dollar
I have 7 1977 d. I saved all 1970s and all 1965 through 1969 quarters also 53 bicentennial quarters also in pennies 1939 through 1979 12 rolls of all yes and mint. Never actually checked them I'm learning now. Not bragging just excited if I have a jack pot winner new 1958 penny's too. Wow
I've always lived by the motto, if there is one, there's more!! What great coverage of this quarter!! Time to do some searching in my 1970D quarters!! Thanks J&B for another great video!! God Bless!!
Thank you for watching! J&B
I have one if these 1977 coins, who can I contact that is liget?
I have one in my hand right now
I believe i have one of these 1977 quarters.
I have a 1977 Denver Mint quarter
Good job brother... I have a 2006 D??? With major damage!! AND 1967 NO M. Stamped,, 3,4 times!! 1990 P. Words are not right. Stay healthy bro. ✌❤🏇🏇🏇
Can paint thinner be used to safely remove something from a rare coin? Some people tell me it won't hurt the coin but others tell me there may be impurities in the paint thinner and it will leave an oily residue on the coin.
Yes there is more 1977 coins out there! You just got to find them around and at the right place and time!
I have a 1977 D that has filled in mint ma4k and also in 'cod' we trust. It has no G its pure c. What is the possible value in good b7t circulated condition?
Wow I have at least 15 of these quarters plus multiple (20+) 1776-1976 bicentennials from each of the mints.. alot in excellent condition

I have a 1977 d quarter should it have copper around it?
I have come across a 1980 Washington quarter on the front but has a 1993 Washington bust on the reverse and was wondering if this is
rare and worth anything?
Sounds like it might be a double-headed magician's coin. 🙂
Good evening sir I watch ur video every day I am going to send you a picture of my 1977 D quater its in great condition
Can you post a pic here that must look crazy
I have a few of them.
I have this coin and I've had it for years😛😛
Hi F
mine is copper so i’m confused but i don’t know if it change because of the oxygen or what any help anyone
@Kenneth Shepherd me also I got a 77d and 77 no mint
@Kenneth Shepherd how much did they weigh?
Me too
Awesome information!! Great video!
I just got one with a (D) mint today, plus I have some bicentennial quarters and some wheat pennies and a 2005 buffalo nickel, all of them are for sale
Sad that had to happen, exspensive lesson to learn but almost 5k for a 25c not bad. Nice info and good luck on giveaways everyone. 🤘
I have a 77 but not D.
Nope it’s been altered
If it was really dirty, wouldn't that have brought the value down in itself ♥
Unfortunately not, since cleaning a coin will depreciate in value ! When my father cleaned most of his Morgan dollars minted between 1878-1921, they sold for a third of their value. Only the Carson City mint marked coins were valuable because they had their original bag marks and dirt from circulation. So, if you possess any collectable coins leave them intact.
Wow ! I have a few of these . And some rolls of bicentennial quarters I never thought they would be worth anything .
Its always possible there are more out there..I will keep an eye out for 1977 quarters..and im now considering a weight scale since I dont have one. Ill be on the look out for this one..thank you for the informational video! :)
hi I have a 1997 quarter dollar liberty p
If you have valuable coins who do you sell them too? My grandmother passed, she owned a bar, had 2 large bins of coins. I just started looking after 10 yrs as I've busy and found a 1943 penny steel
I have a 1903S barber25c
Authenticate send to ngc or psgc then sell on ebay or through a auction house like heritage or throw back in bin.
Still have it.
Wow that’s fantastically beautiful
@@hectornevarez6871 informing people that you got it may not be the brightest idea sell it and shut your mouth!
I think more. I also think it doesn’t matter what the mint Mark says. Thanks J&B
Hello J&B, I'll keep it in mind while searching quarters but I'm not really expecting to find one. It would be awesome. Thanks.
It's not as hard as one might think. When you have a pile of change you have a Lot of chances to find valuable coins.
Thanks to your video I was happy to see that I have the 1977d in my collection. It's in good condition. I believe it's MS66. Thanks again. Elizabeth.
There could be more, I hope there are more. Maybe I'll find the next one when I'm looking through quarters. What interests me the most, is how did the silver planchet get to Denver? Has there ever been an instance where a mint used the wrong mint mark? Thanks for the video!
What about a1977double headed quarter.
Ok thanks .
I just found one

I am so excited about this quarter dallour because by watching this video remind me I have one just like that one you guys showing
I have 1 that I've been waiting to send off. I guess now it's time. I'm watching this on the road when I get home ill include a pic
🦉
I hav one with a upside down head
What about 1977 with no mint mark?
@@muzzy823 I have the 1977D
@@jestinegregory3473 i have one
Hello. My. 77 Quarter has a mint on right ridge of coin. One of a kind
Great Work!
Yeah me too and every time I'm done with the coin looking my eyes are so freaking crossed eyed
the video author blundered here (or trolled everyone). Bicentennial silver quarters weigh 6.25g, regular quarters weigh 5.7g. So he has a bunch of people hoarding/trying to sell their regular quarters as if they're collectibles...
I do have this coin exactly the same with other collection !! How I should sale it without get scams
If you find out. Would you please pass it on. I have 77d. With two errors
Nice! I’m a newbie , and I’m enjoying your videos,,,, very Informativo! Thanks for sharing the KNOWLEDGE.
If I have a valuable coin where can call and who can I talk to, to have my coin being sent over?
Let me know please. Thank you
Corneliu Catana, There are grading services like Stacks Bowers, PCGS, NGC ect, that can grade your coin if that's what you mean.
Hi coins collector, pls i have founded so much different American's coins. Pls help me showing me how to sale it.
I means i have the coins from 1818,1850,1788,1889: D&P
